Beautiful video! I live in Oslo and I have to say you chose the best time for a wintertime visit. It's not always like this. I really enjoyed the video, because as someone who lives here, I don't visit all those sites all the time and it was beautiful to see it all in this winter setting. But you have to come back in the summertime! Ten wild horses can't drag me out of this city in July. Go island hopping using the ferry system or walk the river trail. But my absolute favorite is early September, when it's dark at night, but still warm. I pretty much live for mid August to mid September. That's pure happiness for me, living in Oslo.

Sounds wonderful. We’d love to return in the summertime. Thanks for your lovely comments. We’re really pleased you enjoyed the video. Be sure to check out our other video from Oslo when we went sledging. 😊

Fun fact: The slope where u did the sleigh ride was actually constructed as the bob sleigh track for the Winter Olympics in 1952 :)

Cool video! Looks like i missed out on a lot of things when I visited Oslo last April. I'd definitely love to check out the maritime museum, the sledding, and exploring other parts of the city via metro or ferry! Maybe next time 🤞

That temperature (-31,1) was set in the forest north of Oslo. The coldest temperature you could have experienced where you were is about -23. But, then we have real temp, and if we calculate that into the mix, you might have experienced around -30. 😊

    Education time!
1: Norwegians trust meterologists and statisticians even less than British people do. -30 is cold in the south, but I've definitely seen -35, whatever they try to tell you. General rule for minimum temps, barring rare exceptions, is -25 in the east if you're near the coast, -30 to -35 if the fjords freeze over, -5 on the west coast, -10 if you're on the coast in the north, -35 inland in the south, -40 to -50 inland in the north. And despite this situation, being on the coast always feels a lot colder for some reason.
2: If there are still trees you're not in the mountains, although the tree line moves down the further north you go. In the south we call the mountains with trees on them 'hills'. The place you went to is usually just called 'skauen', meaning 'the woods'. Norwegians are prosaic by nature.

Yeah, it was pretty chilly, but we were wrapped up so it didn’t really affect our sightseeing.

There you were very lucky: This weather and these temperatures are very rare.😃For these temperatures you must travel to Folldal eller Røros

Hey! Thanks for your comments. We did indeed feel very welcome. During our five night stay, we spent £880 (not including flights), 38% of which was on accommodation.

What month did you visit? I’m looking at either the summer months, October around Halloween or February. We went to Tromso in February which was stunning in the snow.

Hiya. We visited at the beginning of January, so the height of winter. Tromso’s very much in our long, long list.
