Finally a house built by james that looks like how I build houses. In that, whenever I get a new pack, I just start chucking stuff from them into rooms.
I'm at a point in this quarentiening where I watch these within minutes of them coming out now, James Turner notifications on always! One of my favorite youtubers to watch < 3
I had so much fun watching this, way more than others for this challenge I’ve watched (though I liked theirs too). I think it’s because James embraced the ridiculousness of trying to make some of the packs work instead of taking it too seriously. What a great way to start my day!!
i came up with the story for this house: this house is a nice elegant house generally made for parties but because they always throw parties they keep their favorite things in their rooms (that's why that one room was so crowded) and no one is supposed to go in the kitchen during parties so they use it for their pets, too
James does generally post at 12am or really late AU time though (almost always after I've gone to bed), but I assume you're not Australian (or maybe not AEST at least) so can't tell? At least his times are convenient for all non-Aussies.
For James: THE ULTIMATE SIMS BUILD CHALLENGE Rules: You must build a house for 8 sims, it can not end up looking like a box (or rectangle) and must include at least one toddler room, one child room, and one teen oriented room (use your imagination as to what that entails as far as decorations and uses are concerned). Each of those must be separate rooms. Your build has a total budget of $100,000-$300,000 simoleons (it must cost a minimum of $100,00 but cannot exceed $300,000) This does not include the cost of the lot which can be over budget if desired (as in the build ends up being $300,000 but the lot puts it closer to say $320,000 or something). Before starting the build, you must decide which packs you will use. You are allowed to use the base game and ONE expansion pack, ONE game pack, and TWO stuff packs. All of which must be chosen through a random generator. For each room you must spin a wheel to determine what colour to use. You may only use that colour for the entirety of the room (with the exception of bathroom or kitchen material that do not exist in said colour at which point you may use the colour you feel is closest. And doors/windows may be of normal colour and are excluded from the rules of the colour portion of this challenge). You may not use the colours White, Black, or Brown on the inside of the house (except as mentioned above; doors and windows). When the colour is chosen every item in that room must be made either entirely by or the majority of it is that specific colour. **If you end up using the laundry day pack you must include a laundry room and out door wash bucket and clothes line **If using seasons you must include a garden, fireplace, and thermostat **If using vampires, at least one coffin must be included and the build must have a basement or attic it can be placed in **If using island living you must place the build by a body of water **If using cats and dogs the build must be pet friendly and include items for both cats and dogs (if drawn you can build a house for six sims instead of eight) **If using movie hangout a space must be allotted for an indoor or outdoor movie theatre with a screen and enough chairs for the sims living in the house (so 8) You have to have a bin in the kitchen as well (don’t forget the bin). Hope you see this, I think this could be really fun while simultaneously challenging!!
Sarah Werth Sarah Werth I thought this build challenge sounded great.. until I read the part of a room only having one color. It would be more fun to build if each room had a feature color instead. I personally don’t think it’s fun or pretty to have everything in a room be the same color. The rest of the challenge sounds awesome though. Might try it my way one of these days 😉
I absolutely love the movie hangout pack because the items are just so colorful. I am a sucker for drab colors but I love to color pop with curtains or furniture so it’s just perfect for me!

I imagine a guy, freshly graduated from college, who wants his house to look way more expensive than it really is, lives here. He probably went to a bunch of consignment shops and thrift stores to collect all those wacky/weird furniture pieces. Then discovered he had managed to pick every type of design possible: modern, contemporary, ranch, fun house, fancy.
the challenge: try to design different rooms using different packs for each one of them and still make it seem normal james, designing the very first room of his home: THIS IS THE FUN ROOM
Your Cats and Dogs kitchen reminds me of my grandma’s home. She lived in Rhode Island, not too far from the water, with a dog most of her life. I think that means you nailed Cats and Dogs - I always got a New England vibe from the pack.
What I like about James' take on the challenge is that he checks out the stuff available in the pack to check where best to utilize it BEFORE deciding on a room.
I love all your building videos (especially the challenge ones) and I have a few tutorial videos saved. I'm always very strict with building on the grids, but the more I watch, the more I see the necessity to use 'move objects' to get more realistic and diverse creations.
I think the entrance room being spooky stuff works perfectly. Sets a Halloween seen and then each room is it's own immersion experience. So with each room being so different it's a perfect Halloween experience!
Honestly the smaller bedroom actually looks very personalized. Like someone actually lives there and just really likes that kind of aesthetic. It's really charming
I love how James progressively tried less to make the house look normal throughout the video

I think the living room is actually kind of fun. Gives me '70s vibes!
"golden toilet, golden sink, golden swan bathtub..... shower"
i was expecting golden shower ;-)
0:03 That pause and face before saying: .... No were not going to do that😂😂😂
The solid gold bathroom hurts my eyes, apart from that I kind of like it.
Your Cats and Dogs kitchen reminds me of my grandma’s home. She lived in Rhode Island, not too far from the water, with a dog most of her life. I think that means you nailed Cats and Dogs - I always got a New England vibe from the pack.
James is the last to use his own generator😁😁😁
What I like about James' take on the challenge is that he checks out the stuff available in the pack to check where best to utilize it BEFORE deciding on a room.
I've never been this early in my lifetime
Lucky.
I love all your building videos (especially the challenge ones) and I have a few tutorial videos saved. I'm always very strict with building on the grids, but the more I watch, the more I see the necessity to use 'move objects' to get more realistic and diverse creations.
Alternate title:
*James slowly loses hope in his build.*
This family's pretty kooky. I'd love to imagine what family lives here
sims team: here's get famous for sims' fame and reputation!
every sims youtuber: OH MAN THIS IS A BATHROOM PACK
19:58 to 20:07 sounds like a dad picking out xmas gifts for his kids at a gas station. It came to me like a vision.
James: does a challenge where every room is a different pack
Also James: uses all the packs I don't have
The get to work wall paper in the white shade gives me a bit of a clinical vibe.
When James said ‘that’s a bathroom’ it reminded me of Tandy from the last man on earth saying “that’s not a knife, this is a knife” 😂
When James proposed another challenge at 0:30 I got so excited cuz I'm already half way through that challenge. 😂❤

I kinda like these challenges, because it sort of gives you a good idea of which packs are worth spending money on (depending on your gameplay/style).
Last time I was this early you still were the sim supply
I think the entrance room being spooky stuff works perfectly. Sets a Halloween seen and then each room is it's own immersion experience. So with each room being so different it's a perfect Halloween experience!
This is why I keep failing my parties in the sims 4 I didn’t have my boom cubes in my party room 🤦♀️😂
Honestly James leaned into the absurdity of the challenge more than anyone else I've seen and I'm down for it
I have never been this early in my life. Honestly kinda proud. Love you semaj
That house is actually awesome I might try and do something like that for my sims
If the guy from "SPLIT" were an architect.
Honestly the smaller bedroom actually looks very personalized. Like someone actually lives there and just really likes that kind of aesthetic. It's really charming
I don't know why, but this house is giving me British vibes
