Now I want to see a home with the worst rated…but would James actually install my first pets?
EDIT: got to very end.. looks like it!
He may have to use my first pet stuff but he also gets Batuu. Batuu yeah!
I'm excited to see what James does with it. I honestly think it could end up looking really nice! Get to Work and Journey to Batuu both have a lot of industrial-looking items, and those weird pipe decorations from My First Pet Stuff could work well with that theme. You could also make a nice family home, since My First Pet Stuff has a lot of items that work well for children, and Journey to Batuu could work for a nice bedroom for a Star Wars obsessed child or teen.
I was just gonna say this lol
Ultimate challenge.
Loved this!
Here's an idea: do a similar video, but with the most-owned packs from the survey. Given that not all people have bought all packs, a build like that means it could be used by most people in this community
I second this!
I love this idea!
Great idea! 💯
Ohhh this is brilliant! I watched that video after I read this comment, so I was keeping an eye out - I think that would be Desert Luxe, Tiny Living, Parenthood, & Seasons. It would lend itself to trying to make a family microhome, which are my favorites. (I don't usually do 32 tiles with kids, at least not beyond one parent and one kid. But I've squeezed many a family of 4 into 64.)
What a cool idea !
James’ tiny houses look like they could be from a Slyvanian Families set whilst mine bear a closer resemblance to the cardboard box the set comes in 😭

James: Builds the tiniest little micro cottage
Also James: What if it had SIX ROOMS!
Never change, James. Never change. 😂
When he discovered that he can make use of the attic as free space to make a bedroom I actually went sweet, big living area for a tiny home that's new for him! Should have known he'd find a way to keep it tiny and squeezed in spaces. 😄😄
How does he play in these builds? I think I'm brainwashed by a childhood playing Sims 1 & 2 where two Sims could get stuck trying to walk across a 3x3 room, but I swear my Sims still have routing issues in small entryways. Mostly when a big dog is involved, my Sim's dog laid down in the entrance of her bathroom, and she couldn't get out.
@@ILuvAyeAye he's testing it with 1 sim I'm sure it gets more complicated with 2 which is how much space this build can accommodate I think realistically with a 2 sim household you'd have to carefully plan your sims movement luckily with the hallway and every room being sectioned off that should be possible they might have to be in a line in hallways or if two go in opposite directions in them one sim might have to move into another room or go back where they came from to let the other pass lol
Could not stop thinking about how stressful it’d be to climb a ladder with a hot cup of coffee 😂
🤣 I think in real life, you'd keep a little electric kettle on your bedside table, tote water to bed in a Nalgene every night, and make your tea from bed every morning. The real question is how they got the bed up there....
I am playing a runaway teen who "found" a 3x3 treehouse on top of two ladders. I think it looks cozy and almost realistic... Except for the counter, that she must have rented a crane to install. 😅 The Sims 4 insists she couldn't possibly use the top of her mini fridge to prepare food, and she insists on having negative moodlets when I make her live off applesauce, I ran out of patience. (I used a corner counter piece, it kind of looks like a bedside stand if you squint.)
@@ILuvAyeAye omg id love to see this build! Would you mind sharing it to the gallery?
@@ILuvAyeAye The way you get large furniture into places like that irl is as convoluted and expensive as you'd think. Basically, remove wall, crane to lift things up or down, replace wall.
Quite expensive lol
@@ILuvAyeAye you could place a counter pretending a friend built it in place for her, that way logically only the boards and raw material would have to have gotten carried up the ladder. Sounds like a fun story line you’re playing tho!
Boxed bed frame. Boxed mattress. Unbox and assemble everything once you get it up the ladder. Lol. Same with the rug. Toss it up the ladder while it's rolled.
The last time I was this early, James was known as the Sim Supply
lol us
😂😂
Wait... That is the same person?? I was wondering but was not sure lol

Holy claustrophobia! I love this as a build challenge but would hate living here 😂
I've got nothing against living in a small space (I say from my studio apartment) but both in the Sims and real life, when you've got a bunch of even tinier rooms inside a tiny house, I start feeling trapped. I've got a galley kitchen, and I hate it so much. That said, I think the tiny rooms he built are pretty realistic for British cottages, and old builds in general - tiny rooms were much easier to heat, open concept is very modern.
@@ILuvAyeAye Totally! Im going to download this house to play in as is, but I'll work on renovating it to be more modern for suree hahaha
truly! Watching this video was a real challenge for me! Had to look away a couple of times!
This is a Mansion compared to some tiny NYC apartments. Or even some living pods in Tokyo.
Tbh this tiny house looks real. Looks lived in because we all know in real life our house can be a little mixed-matchy and kind of controlled chaos 🤣
Hehe, agreed xD. Some have just one style and those houses look so sterile and boring..!
This cottage is so cute I love it! Did not anticipate such a fabulous bedroom in the attic but it looked so cozy and sweet!
Yeah it’s my favorite part about the whole build because it’s technically free space! I’ll be adding that into every micro home I build from now on haha
Oh no, now you HAVE to do one with the worst packs too
YESSSS
Awwh batuuu yeahh hahaha
I feel like this is a tiny cottage that was only partly renovated by a single (and kinda broke) parent excited to move to the countryside with their kid and start fresh! The newer-looking furniture came with them, the older-looking one was either left behind by the cottage's previous owners or donated by their kindly rural neighbours. 🌻✌ (Also, can't help thinking that the kid could be a werewolf and the parent decided to move to the countryside so their kid would have more freedom! Like that anime film, Wolf Children.)
Next you need to build the house using the worst packs
Honestly, James gives me inspiration to play and build even when I don't have the energy to get out of bed :')
You should try building a tiny home that qualifies to finish the mansion baron aspiration.
Maybe the living room could have been used as cold storage before the renovation? Those shelves could be real vintage!
I love your tiny builds!! Thanks James, best content on RUclips.
More builds yes I actually love these. . Can we get a renovation series where you go back and redo some of your early builds. . 😊
That attic space is brilliant! I really wish you could hire a farmhand with cottage living, like similar to the butler service. It would be really cute to put a small cottage like this on a larger property and have your farmhand stay in it and tend the animals and crops.
Or you could make a playable sim that is the farmhand living there with a rich family, and then forbidden romance.... Hahah
My number one pet peeve with building in the sims 4 which is that even the shortest wall height is still reasonably tall side. I know the scale of the game in general is a bit out of whack but the wall heights are genuinely kind of annoying because I want to build old fashioned cottages and small huts and things but they always look really goofy 😭James has done a pretty good job here imo
Platforms! You can make the inside of the house much shorter and try to bury the outside with bushes and shrubs to make it look really short!
@@TyeDyeLollipop16 I do do this sometimes!! It works well as a work-around for single floor buildings with no basement but anything with multiple floors is still a problem 😔
Looks great! Love the attic space idea, definitely using that. Instead of archways, it might be an idea to use spandrels? Would open up the space more but still seperate the rooms :) Watched the rest of the video, you actually do do that, sorry :D
So cute. I always feel reticent to make builds that don't include a double bed, but if none of your Sims live with a partner, it's silly. In the real world, if you are looking to woohoo with a guest, I've never heard of a lack of a double bed stopping a couple. In the Sims, that's what showers are for. Or bushes.
(To be fair: I am 5'6". Growing up as a teen in a cramped city, a double bed seemed like a unnecessary luxury that none of my friends had... Except for my very tall friend, whose feet started hanging off the side of his single bed in middle school.)
That said, it can be a pain in the Sims, because I tend to use the University shower for micro-homes, and you can't woohoo in that one.
That attic space is amazing! Also when James said he wanted to fit a second bedroom I was liked whaaaaaat but it turned out so nice!!
I will never get over Australian people calling flip flops, thongs. I mean they are kind things for your feet lmao
this is so cute
You should also try to build with the worst packs. I think that would be good challenge too :) Especially the Batuu stuff :D
I hope james does a Worst pack build 😁 bigger house place in Batu lol
Love this build, so cozy and idyllic. I really love the sunroom.
15:27 when tile count matters, I find a much more usable 4 tile bathroom is to place it in a 'T' shape.
The door on the centre of the long side. Then you have 3 little nooks, for a sink, shower, toilet and a clear tile in the middle.
oooh smart, I'm stealing that
oh, thanks for sharing, i could use that!
This is so cute! I might have to buy that clutter pack, but I also think I might need to gut the downstairs. About the too tall walls, I built a tiny thatched cottage that was a little sunken into the ground for lower walls.
What's really funny, is that, in the U.K. there WERE actually cottages that were this small, ( although they have all been extended over the years ) and large farm labouring families used to live in them lol. However, the downstairs space would have been all one space, and the whole of the attic could be used, the toilet was an outhouse outside, and the 'bath' would have been a metal tub that would have been stored outside, and brought in and placed in front of the fireplace (it's amazing how people used to live ... and still do, in places around the world.)
Wow this turned out amazing! I love the attic/loft with free space! So cool!
you can actually use the 9 and 0 keys on mirrors to move them up and down on the wall on case you didn't know:) only discovered it myself recently and it's been a life saver
Love the attic bedroom! I think it’s a better call to not put a mirror in the attic. Rooms built into roofs are a little bit finicky to play in with the walls all the way up, so it’s better to have everything just be floor standing furniture. Would love to see more builds inspired by the survey!
I'm surprised there isn't a small tabletop mirror in the game yet (unless there's one in a pack he wasn't using?)
I think you can raise/lower mirrors using the F keys...
I was feeling really anxious but watching this made it better :)
i love the fact that this man genuienly put 2 bedrooms and a full bath into 32 tiles, and then full on insisted on "i need my sunroom!" istg
I’m surprised you fit so much stuff in a micro home! I hope worst rated doesn’t involve my first pets stuff 😂
James has such good energy! LET’S GO!!!! thanks for brightening my days, James!!
Can you make a built with the worst ones? I really really really want to see you use a LOT of batuu stuff
I feel so smart that the first three dlc i bought were Seasons, Dream Home Decorator and Tiny Living omg Looks like I’ll have to get Cottage Living next
I can't believe how much you managed to pack into such a small space while still making it usable! I wonder if you'd still be making a "worst packs" house if Batuu wasn't going to feature to lessen the pain of "my first pets"...
Cute build for sure. James is always an inspiration for building
I like this house. I hope it's on the gallery.
I LOVE when James takes on challenges like this, cuz:
1. It's interesting to see him figuring things out like the layout or which furniture to use, since he has limited options.
2. It makes it more possible for me to download it, cuz I'm broke and I don't have every single Sims 4 pack 😂
Nancy and Geoffrey like, "Hey, we can buy this tiny home under one of our shell companies. It can be our little hideout."
James: we're gonna build a house using the best packs!
Me: ahhh... yeah... Batuu??
I just love this one. It feels so realistic with the funky little spaces to work around. It turned out so charming, and very cozy! :)
OMG I only learnt today that you can use the space where the roof is? That's just changed a few things
You have to be particular about how much space is there, but yeah! It's a great way to get a closed in space when starting Rags to Riches.
I’ve been wondering what a tiny house using attic space would be like! This is fantastic!!
Besides the base game building if I download this lot nothing will be missing 😂 I actually own all these packs.
loved this video ((: such a cool idea, might try it for myself using your results
will that attic room-not-room be affected negatively by seasons? 👀
I've learned so much from this channel. Thank you for giving constant inspiration!
I'm so excited to see James forced to build with my first pet stuff lmao
The first video I ever watched on your channel was a super tiny home build years ago. Your tiny builds never ever get old so keep em coming!!!
Came from watching the summit to here to try to remember that I don’t actually hate The Sims… Also, have you ever tried to build a house with premade rooms?
Blessed is the person who gets a mug of tea up a ladder
Oh James I can't wait to see you build with my first pet stuff pack!!! Hahaha!!!
the walls in the attic are actual walls so you could've painted them or put wall paper up there
This was a hard no for me. You did way too much and over complicated the layout massively.
Sun room should have been the living room, plenty of space. Then you had much more space for a bathroom and open kitchen and dining room.
2 bedrooms was completely unnecessary. It felt claustrophobic af.
Expect for that I'd probably have a basement library (with books, games, etc.) is that something I'd love to live in :D
I recently moved to the UK, and I always see those terraced houses that look so small from the outside. I can never understand the layout, but now I’m going to imagine them like this 😂
The really small ones are called "two up, two down": two rooms upstairs (bedroom, bathroom), two rooms downstairs (kitchen/dining, sitting).
The front door opens into the hallway (which isn't counted as a room). On one side of the hallway there is the staircase to the upstairs, on the other side there are the doors to the two downstiars rooms.
This is the cutest little cramped house!!
I like James
Your builds give me too many ideas for new saves. And I appreciate it thoroughly.
Dude! I genuinely love this! I also appreciate that it's in real time as well. I don't have cottage living, but I have Tiny living so I think I could make my own version of this. Thanks for the inspo
My guy WHAT is that layout?
absolutely cannot wait for the Get to Work/Batuu/My First Pets Stuff/Bust the Dust build
can you do a build with the worst rated packs. it’ll be fun
Yes, it could be fun! 😆
But I can just imagine James taking on this challenge - and then realizing what packs he has to build with:
Okay, what expansion do we have to use?
Get To Work. Oh.
I guess we have to build in... Magnolia Promenade.
And with what game pack?
Aw yeah, Batuu! 😁
And Stuff Pack?
My First Pet Stuff!!! 😑
Okay, what about the kit?
Aaaand the entire build will either sparkle or be covered in layers of dust.
Great...
Well, let's goooo 😒
.....
So what I mean by "it could be fun" is really just fun for us! 😂
PLEASEEEE desperately renovate "The old salt house" in San Myshuno.
Nothing is lined up and they have a painting over a window..... that's all I need to explain!
-Tanika🙂
Could also also do a challenge of a) only using second best packs (seasons, werewolves, paranormal, blooming rooms) and b) worst packs just for kicks (get to work, batuu, my first pet stuff oh no, bust the dust eek). But look, the second best group actually go really well together. And you can prove the Batuu haters wrong with a Get to Work AND Batuu combo and make an awesome sci fi build-though too bad you aren’t getting much help from the stuff pack and kit for this group.
ugh so according to your statistics, i should have bought city living instead of get together.. wished i watched your video earlier before i purchased it yesterday, i missed it
Hopefully you still enjoy it though!
Perfect size and price for a young couple to have spent a little time in an apartment in the city, then pursue their dream of moving to the countryside for a slower-paced life (and some increased skill building!)
I like tiny homes but I prefer to build a bigger house even though it takes me a long time.
Now I look forward to the Batu, Get To Work, My First Pet Stuff, and Bust The Dust build.... I really do
Amazing! You could really take your builds to the next level with the tool mod. You can use it to adjust mirror heights and it gives you much more control over sizing than using the bracket keys.
Love this build! These are some of my favorite packs ❤
for building i understand, but DHD beating out werewolves was a shock to me because the gameplay wasn't well-received when it came out
Guys, does anybody have troubles with the sims gallery now? I've got red crosses all over it even though I have already tried to fix it in every way... Please tell me it's not only me ._.
That’s adorable and I am shocked you were able to creat a full functional TWO BEDROOM micro cottage for less than $40,000 simoleons 🎉
I love you but I think you could benefit from playing animal crossing happy home 😅 that forced me to learn how to make better use of my space and still flow
Ooh the thumbnail house looks lovely!
That attic space is dope!
This was cool but definitely could have done more with the space if you didn’t add the second bedroom like bigger living room lol
I think tiny living's 70's style furniture works in a cottage bc a lot of cottages where i'm from haven't been remodeled since the 60's or 70's so you totally see more "modern"/retro style furniture in them
Has anyone else had a problem with the sims 4 since the recent update such as while in live mode the game goes back to the main menu after only 2 minutes of gameplay on the X BoX?
I am amazed that tiny kitchen works, that’s so tight a space. The fridge clipping into the counter had me laughing. Incredible how much can be squished into a tiny home.
When you said cabinetry all I could think of was to sing "Cabinets" :P
After watching James's videos, I have more fun building!! This tiny cottage looks soooo cute, i wanna live there!!
Loved the outside structure but I was literally cringing with the inside layout and decor 🫣
This looks amazing James. Would be cool if you tried to make the most 'playable' house, as in most user-friendly & good for playing (no tall objects in the middle etc)
Sucks so bad that you can't do one and a half story houses in the sims without it being super jank.
why do simmers have an obsession with building everything so small??
when i saw the title i definitely thought batuu was going to be a pack, but then i realized it was not your opinion lol
I just realized that he calls flip flops thongs
Can someone please tell me the name of the intro song he use? Its so catchy and I can't get it out of my head, hahah
can u do a part two with the second best packs, I wanna see a tiny werewolf home!
i would actually love to have a small but cute little house or apartment, just me and my cats
Are you doing a house for the worst packs next?!
I'm really trying to find the warehouse and the cemetery on the gallery but I just can't seem to find it, or on your website. I really loved those 2 builds and have great plans for them.
