Sometimes, when you feel alone in the world, and you feel like nobody can understand or relate to what's going on with you, it's easy to feel invisible. I've felt invisible at many times in my life, and that's what Invisible Man is about. Invisible Man is about the story of feeling as if you're walking through life alone. Even though nobody is truly alone in life, it can sometimes feel that way, and that feeling of being alone can be crushing and painful. That feeling has to come out somehow... and that's why I wrote Invisible Man.
Depressing story aside - this was a really difficult song for me to produce, both in terms of technically notating everything down on paper, and also mixing / recording in the end. Funny enough, this song came to me when I was having a hard time falling asleep one night after a bad day, and I got out of bed and just started noodling at my MIDI keyboard in front of my computer. I recorded my noodlings, and the idea for Invisible Man was what came out! I guess that part of the process was pretty easy, haha.
I'm very happy to be able to feature the Budapest Strings on this track! I've had only a couple of opportunities to work with a live string orchestra on one of my compositions / arrangements before, and these players did a great job of bringing my vision for this tune to life! I really wanted this song to deliver on the sorrow that I tried to imbue into it when writing, and I think these players did a fantastic job at bringing that out (despite the fact that much of this song is in Bb minor - sorry string players!)
Picking apart every detail of this arrangement would take forever and more characters than I have in this description... so I'll just point out Rob and Josh's solo spots throughout the tune. Rob's playing of the "anime moment" piano solo was spectacular, and Josh's guitar solo at the end sounds just as wailing as I wanted it to. So glad to have been able to work with these players to put together a production like this!

This makes me think of a man walking alone on the New York streets in winter with a light snow fall and looking at everyone else around him with someone while he is by himself. Incredible, really captures the feeling your going for!
damn I was feeling that exact same vibe
bro this is just me at college right now 💀
Absolutely loved playing those long sustains on the fretless here, it was surreal hearing it all come together with the Budapest strings too. This song really gives me the feels!
That bass was amazing, it gave so much "body" or depth, if you'd like, to the recording. Really great when encompassed with the electric guitar and strings. Congrats on another top notch performance!
omg is that the Nico Mendoza, huge fan
@@StevenHigbee omg is that Steven Higbee???
So glad we decided to go with the fretless on this one! :D
I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭😢
Beautiful! Amazing how much talent you brought together!
Never expected to see AttackingTucans here
Thanks Tyler :)
Ha! I’m glad you liked the “anime moment.” I definitely enjoyed learning and playing this track. And I love how the strings turned out! They add so much.
You played so beautifully!
the gigachad pianist has spoken! nice

InsaneInTheRainMusic has come to bless us with another composition
Every single time, without fail. I don't know you personally, but I can't help feeling an immense sense of pride whenever you manage to put something out that's wholly and truly your own. Thank you for sharing that with us, and thank you for still being around.
Great video, great song, I hope you keep having fun with this!!!
Thanks so much!
The chord progressions hit really hard on this one. Both melancholic and trying to reach out. It’s a fascinating tone
Man this turned out so well! Had such a fun time filming and color grading this!
Since you came back with this album, you're really releasing masterpiece after masterpiece. I was already a huge fan of your work before and this was already high level, but now all the new stuff you're releasing is absolutely outstanding
Aw, thanks so much :)
Man Josh's guitar tone is so TASTY here! The strings added such a cool color here as well - amazing job!
ooh I like that special dissonance this has, especially in that last piano part. It really captures that sour loneliness you intended! Awesome
The Flugelhorn in this piece is perfect. Makes me not only want to pick the trumpet back up, but also follow through with getting a Flugelhorn of my own.
Great composition and great choice for the performers.
Flugelhorn is such a beautiful instrument - a great fit for this song!
Man I relate to this tune so much, and just the overall build of this tune gets me every time 😭, sooo gooood!!!
Favorite Moment is the build up at 4:28 onward, just feels like driving in a car shifting up gears in a highway!
That moment was so good, it shows that you were really in the moment, both in your performance and in your expression!
That guitar solo towards the end slaps
I have never in my life see someone play triangle with such enthusiasm.
When a song makes you laugh and say "It's so good" to yourself while you're sitting alone in your apartment you know it's good. Brb gonna preorder the album immediately.
This is one of those songs that you love immediately. Like, in the first few seconds of it playing. Well done, Carlos! I was so proud seeing the orchestra and this milestone for you. Maybe one day you'll do a movie score. Keep doing what you love, and we love it too 💖🙏🏽👍🏽🙌🏽
Great song, the strings really make this song so full! I love it!
And for everyone reading this comment: I recommend listening to the song, then read the description and listen to it again. That way you can experience the song again, this time maybe with a bit of a different feel. Or maybe your own experience really matches what Carlos tried to deliver 😃
this sounds like something you might hear on the weather channel in the absolute best way possible. I'm vibing so hard over here.
The tone on that trumpet/flugal is *chefs kiss*
Playing flugel on this was so much fun bro
Killed it man!
It’s been a joy hearing more of your original compositions. Thank you for a beautiful way to start off my day.
100% felt the sorrow and deep feelings you were trying to encapsulate in this song! Amazing work!!
Was he going for sorrow? Sounds joyful to me.
@@matthewLkidder You can read the description to gain insight into what feeling Carlos meant to deliver with this song!
@@boaz7634 You get that much from the title, I don't hear sorrow in this piece though.
@@matthewLkidder Everyone hears something different in music. He said it himself too, he wants to tell stories with his music. You can interpret it differently which is what makes it exciting too!
@@boaz7634 Yeah I can see sorrow, but I was hearing hope, maybe because of the resurrection of his channel's new direction and I'm hoping it kicks off big time.
I hope you're not feeling invisible anymore, man =D As always, I love the instrumentation on your music!! Also how cool that the Budapest Strings are involved!! =D
might be my favorite yet!
Edit: This is my favorite song in the playlist. This one hits different. 💜
The melody is soaring high!!! The modulations are very creative too!! I love every single second of this, sounds very 80s fusion-y!! :)
I really love how this was mixed! Not to mention that guitar tone, fits this so well!
Thank you! Really happy with how these album mixes turned out :)
There’s so much character in this piece. It’s like a stoic trudge through a storm. It’s a an acknowledgment of weather and wear but also refusal to succumb to it.
guitarist killed it. I've been waiting for him to get some solos
Some of the realest stuff I've ever heard.
Wow Invisible Man has become my favorite song so quickly
Every song released so far have been so unique in their own ways! What a moving piece. Budapest Strings were wonderful, and really added to this song!
This has real Risk of Rain 2 ost vibes, I love it!
Perfect vibes for the rain, reflecting on your life type music.
with slight xenoblade and anime flavoring. a perfect blend
Matt Damon killin’ it on the sax!
I am very glad I pre-ordered this album, every song has been amazing so far. I love the more laid back vibes and feelings of this one.
The guitar performance nearing the end has a Xenoblade feel NGL. 😳
this came earlier than I expected and I'm very happy. Thanks for another amazing composition, Carlos!
this is exquisite. I know it probably might feel paradoxical to get a lot of comments sharing how a musical piece about feeling isolated, alone, and invisible is actually very resonant to many people, but here we are...
That was sick man. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
You're not alone, Carlos, especially not when surrounded by such a great band and with the invaluable presence of the Budapest strings! 💙💙
I've learned that lesson, and I am a happier man because of it :D
This is beautiful. Can’t wait to hear the other tracks!
This might be my new favorite on the album! I'm loving your work dude!
The melody and arrangement are touching to the core! I'm listening for the second day in a row - a complete coincidence of attitude! Thanks friends!!! Keep going for sure!!!
You're work has always been inspiring, this song is fantastic
Wonderfully made! Great job Carlos!
I have a playlist on youtube of just Favorite songs of all time. This is now one of them. I salute
I was listening to Snarky Puppy's album "Sylva" the other day, this feels like it would be right at home on it. Incredible work!
That was nice and chill, love the new stuff man!
Loving this!! Haven’t heard it all yet but this album keeps getting better!
So wonderful. Incredible work, Carlos! It's so amazing that you've been able to put this album together and I've been loving following the journey!
Fantastic, can't wait for the full album!
In a way the structure felt very much like Counterattack from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The constant recapitulation and intensification was so awesome.
Still not regretting my pre-order one bit, best decision I've made.
Man all your songs are awesome!
melody starts just like castle in the sky and im all in for it!!!!
Insane, man, thank you for writing this. I have loved every song off this album. This piece is beautiful. Thank you for continuing to share your work with all of us.
So good, man. Always a hit from you!
This album is so good already I am so excited!!
I love this, especially the tonality modulations, they're insane (and it's raining).
Fantastic music as always! I look forward to the next one!
Fantastic as always!
Wonderful as always! Probably my favorite of your original works so far. The Budapest Strings really add to the slightly sorrowful flavor of it.
I loved it! It's definitely got a very different feel from the other tracks in this album so far. I love the variety in your music.
I haven't checked back in the channel in close to a year and WOW this is amazing
I'm really glad you've moved on to doing your own compositions! I loved all of your cover work but it's just as important as an artist to create yourself. Keep it smooth, man.
This tune has been stuck in my head for days now. It's definitely my favorite on your album. Truly an amazing composition. :)
Really loved this one. Amazing job!
A man walks down a rainy New York sidewalk. Cars splash water onto the pavement as they wiz by; their yellow blurred between the drops of water and late night fog. The man wears a trenchcoat; his hands hidden in his pockets, and his neck obscured by the cuff of his collar. No one sees the man as he makes his way through the stormy night. He has left his home, he has left his job, he has left his previous life; forced to by the inevitable truth. He makes his way forward through the rain; one step of his brown shoes at a time.
This is the Invisible Man.
This is so lovely! so many moving parts too, amazing!
The perfect amount of enigma, fanciness and a smooth feeling. Excellent piece!
So calm and perfect
another masterpiece. gives off some form of film noir or spy film move
Absolutely insane dude, you killed it
This one is absolutely beautiful! It fits with the rest of the album with it having almost an encouraging tone, but the slower tempo of it really makes it stand out on its own. I can't wait for Ubuntu and all the songs that follow as well! It's been amazing hearing this album coming together piece by piece, and it's been really cool seeing what compositions you come up with on your own rather than just the VGM covers. (Even though those are incredible as well)
Thank you! Can't wait for you to hear the whole thing!
Incredible! I heard the first 10 seconds of this and then I started reading the description. It was literally what I was thinking while listening to this. It really conveys that feeling. Incredible work right here 🔥🔥⭐💯✨
Is incredible how fit so diferent instuments in one piece
Ok, I have a new favourite insane in the rain song
Sounds amazing man!
I absolutely love all the little details spread throughout the arrangement - the emotions really come through! Also, the solo at 4:40 mixes beautifully with the backgrounds :)
This piece was lovely, very much looking forward to the album!
Absolutely gorgeous piece. Loved every second and can't wait to hear more!
What an incredible piece! Loved that guitar solo at the end! Wow!
I'm reminded a little bit of sand dream with this song.
straight fire dude you got nothing but hits so far, love it!
Absolutely fantastic. A beautiful melancholy.
I think this might be my favourite composition you've done, this is incredible! You capture the feeling you've described perfectly in my opinion, this bittersweet isolated determination that we all need to find within ourselves when we feel like the world is caving in around us.
This is Amazing ! Glad to see your evolution during those years Carlos ^^ keep going 👑🔥
I think your whole album is brilliant but this is definitely one of my favourites, just awesome well done.
What a serene piece. Thank you so much.
My favorite song yet! Love the soft dissonance on the piano to start the song, really sets somber yet intense tone!
I love that you just sit on that dissonance from the piano at the beginning and end; it really sets a unique mood
Always good to hear from ya. This is epic 😎👊
Fantastic job!! This is amazing!
This oozes with your handwriting and I'm here for every second of it.
smooth as butter
Beautiful.
Love the super dramatic shot with the shaker. Also the rest of everything in this video
Wow dude, this song is so good, in a rainny day like this is perfect
This is so beautiful Carlos!! Congratulations, such an amazing song deserves to be heard!! 👌👌👌 Keep it up🤩
