    Having similar symptoms with my 95 Subaru Impreza 2.2L. I know the coolant temp sensor is a "common" issue, so I think I'll go this route before I start throwing other parts at it.
    Thanks mate!!

    You just might have saved my bacon there friend; I'm experiencing exactly the same problems - car stutters once warmed up and doesn't idle properly. Already cleaned out the throttle body, replaced throttle body gasket, cleaned injector, replaced exhaust oxygen sensor, spark plugs, spark plug cables and ignition coil; not to mention the entire exhaust as the old one got burned up due to too rich fuel mixture..
    I really REALLY hope this solves it or ima hafta give up on this car..
    Thanks again!

    Mate, seriously if this works you are an absolute legend..! Ive had the same problem with my 54 reg Corsa SXi 16v and so far forked out on a new coil pack, new plugs, had engine flush through it and all sorts. Was about to give up hope!!

      It didnt work :(
      Next thing Im trying is a new MAF and then maybe check for a clogged or dirty EGR. If that doesnt work then I am going to use more agressive tactics like using seafoam in my fuel tank and crank case.

    pretty sure it's the coil pack but now you're gonna make me double check the coolant sensor.

    My codr reader actually read "eratic signal ECT". I got a new and plan to put it in tomorrow.....big pain have to pull the intake manifold....it deep in the valley between cylinder banks.....Ford strikes again.

    I had the same problem wasn't very smooth when idling from a standing start seem to struggle an when traveling it would seem to splutter hesitate with excelaration it turned out to be the seals on the fuel pump an filter inside the fuel tank had perished an split so instead of the pump delivering fuel to the engine it was just putting it back into the fuel tank replaces all seal an it worked no problem soon as I fired it back up

      +itsLeeLockwood not at all , sometimes it will hesitate and the spanner light comes on for a bit then it goes away the next time I start it , I just cleaned the mass airflow sensor no difference , and I checked the throttle body it was clean no carbon at all , i serviced it about 3 weeks ago, maybe the wrong spark plugs were installed, any suggestions?

    • @itsleelockwood
      @itsleelockwood  7 лет назад

      TheTEKKENTV this is the problem I had; I kept shovelling money into it. Before you do anything; take it to a garage and get the codes checked, even though the light isn't on all the time the codes will still be stored. That's my advice!

    • @driverselect
      @driverselect 7 лет назад

      +itsLeeLockwood I checked the codes there are 2 that came up 0011 & 0068

    • @itsleelockwood
      @itsleelockwood  7 лет назад

      TheTEKKENTV 0011 is related to intake camshaft and 0068 is related to the MAF sensor (that sounds like it could be the problem).. check the connectors, remove the MAF sensor; give it a clean with some electrical contact cleaner; if that doesn't work.. try getting a new MAF sensor

    I have a misfire problem on my 1.4 tsi polo gti. All the cylinders seem to have misfires I have changed the spark plugs the coils , also cleaned the car's induction which had lot of dirt. The car's mileage is 64000 km so I don't think it's a matter o fuel injectors. You think I should try this sensor? Or any other ideas please? thank you

  • @onejay09

    if its the 1,6 twinport z16xep, things to watch out for:
    pcv valve failure, its built into the plastic rocker cover, lean error codes and hesitation/poor idle
    exhaust manifold cracks and sounds like a missfire when revved
    inlet manifold baffle plate, sounds like tappets or bent valves, just rebuild inlet manifold fixes it.
    if you unplug the egr valve, youll get missfires and hesitation like a camshaft sensor error. and fails to start after randomly shutting off on occasion.
    poor rocker cover design lets oil into the throttle body through the pcv valve and fills the lower inlet manifold
    good luck with your astra lee

      Mine Z16XEP misfires only on 4th cylinder and this starts just after 1-2 minutes from cold start and drive. I see approx. 50deg. celsia when this happens, I feel the gas pedal is with bad response to rev-up. Also can not hold idle at stops until engine warm. Misfire occurs mainly when climbing hilly road, driving cold at narrow road is mostly OK. Everything is OK after warming up the engine, no problems at all. Changed two coil pack and few sets of spark plugs, throttle, cracked exhaust with catalyst, both O2 sensors, cleaned injectors and swapped them between.

    Hi bro I heard ur problem and I don't think u have the Astra now.
    My dad had that problem bear in mind am 17 years old and I soon to be driving a corsa bro .
    Anyway my dad had that problem at traffic lights keeping his foot on accelerator revving otherwise it would cut out and he had new coil packs and crank shaft censor and new wiring loom and new fuel injectors
    He then had a machine hooked up from his mate.
    He had the engine running and he took out fuel injector 1 and the engine did nothing so cylinder 1 had gone.
    When we did the same to injector 2 and pulled it out, it made it splutter even worse. That showed that injector 1 was not working at all and also there was blue smoke coming out exhaust and that also showed burning oil through chamber through the bores .
    Anyway we had to have a new engine and then when we opened the engine block and we saw that the piston rings cylinder 1, 2 and 3 had fucked up
    No pistons rings in them and chunks put of piston so that was the problem of misfiring for us don't know about yours night of been the same. Can u let me know what was wrong with yours bro .

    • @Bansidhe
      @Bansidhe Год назад +1

      It sends a signal to the ECU which in turn adjusts the amount of fuel to the injectors.
      If the CTS is faulty then it can send the wrong temperature and in turn cause fuelling issues.

    Man, I really do not understand why do you change it. I expect to see the values coming from temperature sensor firstly by some cheap diag OBD2 ELM tool. That is easier than go directly to try changing sensors. I understand that bad temp sensor can make a problems. But many other engine sensors too, are you going to change all of them?

    • @madyottoyotto3055
      @madyottoyotto3055 3 года назад +1

      It's a common problem With the engine setup
      Well known fix for a reasonably unique situation
      And mostly Because the MK3 astra in the UK wasn't odb2

    • @madyottoyotto3055
      @madyottoyotto3055 3 года назад

      There is also only two sensors that can cause this
      It has no mass air flow meter
      Instead it used air temp and map sensors
      Map sensor if it was the issue would be lots worse
      But the air temp and coolant temp can't be out or it will misbehave

    • @madyottoyotto3055
      @madyottoyotto3055 3 года назад +1

      The guy could have also unplugged it and let the computer guess coolant temp to confirm this most likely what he did
      Also to diagnose these we used a paper clip
      In the correct two odb1.5 pins it will flash engine code using the EML light
