Good Tutorial. Just want to add my .02 cents, Try not to use a ToothBrush because of the bristles but use Cotton Swaps + Cotton Rags only. Also Don't use Brake Cleaner but actual Throttle Body/Carb Cleaner that's designed for cleaning it as Brake Clean is harsh on it and will remove a protective layer in the TB and could harm sensors if you have any in your TB. Otherwise good vid and easy way to tune up a car to run a little better. Combine this with fresh Spark plugs and if your car has a Rotor in a Distributor even better to do that too, though that is an old car thing. Then run some Liquid Intake Cleaner via the Vacuum system connected to the TB and Change the Oil After running it through the system. Misfires can result from numerous things from Vacuum leaks, Air to Fuel Ratio metering devices, Spark Plugs, Distributors or Coil Packs, Injectors, fuel filters, etc! If your car is 95+ you should have OBD II and should scan if you have a Check Engine Light or even a "Pending Code" if you do not. Otherwise get a Simple Spark Checker to watch the Light for Misfires to see which cylinder is having an issue and start from there. Did you ever resolve your misfire?
Surprising you did not break the throttle plate where it connects to motor,you should never move the plate.There is no need to once you spray body from both sides.If moving the plate while cleaning it this can damage the throttle mechanism which means a new complete throttle body!And clean the MAF sensor first.!! It is a lot easier.
Did you find the issue. Maybe you have a vacuum leak (some of the air intake hoses looked very loose(Poor intake or incorrect air will eat fuel). Clean the MAF sensor or look at the PCV fuel valve.. these can easily be cleaned…and will improve car efficiency.. good video showing throttle body clean

IMO if you take it off there is not much point of trying to push it open, just spray both sides with throttle body cleaner and use a brush, I used a painting brush which is soft and has thin bristles which can clean the surroundings of the throttle plate
@covert person, it's quit important to open it while cleaning, the most important parts are the sides of the round metal plate. This can only be cleaned proper when you open the throttle body
Hi my engine light is on and car is really jittering . Happened from one day to other . I’ve been suggested it could be the throttle, does it need to be replaced entirely or just cleaned ? What do you recommend ?
I take it you did the normal plugs, coil pack, fuel cleaning routine? Burning oil? ( i guess hotbed had a new can cover since its not blue?) Egr valve common... Cheap oil and vauxhall don't mix... The engines run hot so oil burns very fast.
My 2008 Sri 1.9cdti z19dth at acceleration would keep jerking and no boost so today i opened the egr and throttle body. But what had done different was opened the full throttle body including the electric sensor at the bottom came to see it was all covered with oil sprayed it with brake cleaner and job done for now hopefully

Your car is misfiring because you need a new coil pack in the car and maybe new spark plugs. I recommend all original parts for this one as aftermarkets are crap :) At least thats what fixed my Opel vectra b 2002. Let me know if you had a different issue please

Unorthodox Car Guy yes i resolved it, it was the coolant temperature sensor! The one I bought previously was a cheap one..

Had that problem, solved it by replacing the high tension coils ramp. Worked like a charm.

As the throttle bodys on these are electric, is there any risk when you move the flap? Will it always go back to it's exact position?
187Maiku yeah it's under a lot of tension to stay closed , it's hard to open with fingers.

He is not a mechanic and has no idea. You need to first get your codes read and go from there

Injectors have been a major part of alot of misfire codes got the injectors cleaned and serviced and it's a whole new animal
Vauxhall petrol engines are crap! Your better with the 1.7 dti Isuzu engine that’s what I have in both my Astra and corsa
No they're good if you look after it, most Vauxhall owners neglect proper servicing even basic ones such as oil changes
