Execs at Xbox have admitted their mistakes for a long time now. There's nothing to hide or try to cover up. They're fixing every mistake with their upcoming console which is what matters at the end of the day.

Although I would personally argue console wars aren't really existent anymore, since Microsoft can technically sell you an Xbox through your Windows PC with the likes of Game Pass for PC, Xbox is more of a brand now rather than a specific game console, whereas Sony pretty much has to rely on the PlayStation consoles.

From what I've read Playstation also had more mindshare in continental Europe (aka Europe minus the British isles) and Asia. Xbox brand seems to have its primary strength inside English speaking countries like UK, Canada and US.

Agreed - I just went back to PC after the 360. I did pick up Gamepass for my PC last month on the ridiculously cheap offer, and saw that Crackdown 3 was on it - and so far, yes, it's a mess. (but way better than Crackdown2 which was a reskin of the first game, which has to be in my top 10 of all time). I've no idea what anybody should take away from any of this.. My personal take is that we can't all play all games (not enough hours in the day) - so game-pass (and the like) offer a small price to let you try a whole load of games 'you might have liked/bought'. You pay a few bucks to try out a game for an hour or so, and if you don't like it you don't feel cheated and move onto the next one, and if you do like it, it feels like a bargain.
So was Mr.Uncle phil "tFlop" spencer last July 23rd. Even more so now that xbox has been moot showing no running games nor talking about any new progress, only thing they seem to be hyping up is gamepass.

Tired of ppl saying "omg series s only have 4 tflops and Xbox one x has 6tf, y would Microsoft release a weaker console". Its not weaker tho because architecture of rdna 2 is almost double the efficiency per tflop of GCN. Meaning it almost takes 2 GCN tflops to do the same thing as a 1Tflop rdna 2 gpu. Also series x is more powerful than ps5 but that doesn't matter to me because Sony has actual exclusives and 3rd party exclusivity deals i care about

Besides Mutalix was right they never show gameplay of games being played on series X. It claims to be powerful but never shows anything to represent the claims. Showing gears 5 and minecraft doesnt show anything plus that Halo demo was played on a PC thats representative to the series X but it wasnt played on the actual hardware which was strange. MS doing bad marketing so far. They had their luster in December and then may happened.
@@ec5018 difference between ps5 and series X will be in resolution and honestly who cares. I'm going to be putting games at 60fps mode every chance I get. If a game runs at 4k 60 on series x then ps5 may have to do 1800p but honestly I can't tell the difference in resolution anyways. For me anything beyond 1440p looks crisp af. I'm getting a ps5 not a series x as I plan on building a gaming pc. Yes Microsoft started being the one who looked confident and competent but now that script has been reversed since we have seen real gameplay on the series x

Xbox 360 the one I had prior to my PS4 sold more than OG Xbox and Xbox One combined. Phil Spencer didn’t do much but bring in Backwards compatibility but that still wasn’t enough. On the other hand whoever is leading the PlayStation team is ruining the brand by porting their games to PC and killing off the parties and community’s. It’s sad. I hope they reverse that decision like they did with PS3 launch failure and hope they don’t turn out like Xbox One
And that's a good thing. How should Microsoft improve if all their partners just told them what they want to hear? Criticism is important and helps them improve. I personally think Microsoft is going to nail it with the Xbox Series X. People are very hyped about it (as far as I can tell), it's more powerful than the PS5, it comes in 2 variants for those who don't want to pay the full price and don't need 4k gaming, it will have a massive UI overhaul, it will be able to instantly switch between games and many other aspects. Also Gamepass is actually a good deal. And the Play anywhere program is also great. You can play your games on your Xbox, your PC or even on the go on your phone. All with ONE very affordable subscription. Over the years Microsoft has started to listen to its customers (in general, not only on Xbox) and made huge improvements, got more open minded and user friendly.
Xbox One ≠ Xbox Series X though. Xbox Series X has much better cooling opportunities than PS5 so it will either be stronger than PS5 or PS5 will be overheating like hell. Xbox will win this generation.

I thought PlayStation said that almost all PlayStation 4 games can be played on the PS5 it's just that the top 100 games had a special feature were you could enhance graphics, frame rates, or more.
I think I read an article saying that that just means that 100 had been tested and worked on the hardware and that any game will run, but they can't guarantee that they work perfectly. Sorry don't have a link to it as it was a bit back.

I remember how bored I was from watching the Xbox One showcase in 2013. All about TV and movie experiences instead of showing us the good games they can provide to the console. The Last of Us Part 1 and Bloodborne ultimately convinced me to buy a PS4 instead. And I was fully satisfied with my purchase.

I’m not gonna lie, I thought the HDMI In port was really cool on Xbox One, it allows me to play on my Switch or PS3 without changing inputs and also utilize Xbox parties to talk to my friends which has helped a lot with the Switch

Plus with the series X those generations of past Xbox games will be the only things you will play because all their games will come after 2021.
He said "STREAM games from last generation". There's no backward compatibility on the PS4, so if you have PS3 game discs and you have a PS4, you're out of luck and the only way to run old games on your PS4 is by... streaming them, with a PS Now subscription.
Also the fact that the Xbox one only had last gen first party games that were worthwhile, hence BC ,where as Sony had it better, so didn't make sense in investing in BC, which I doubt the PS4 is capable of because the Cell Processor was more powerful than the PS4 CPU.
I'm an xbox fan but I will admit I refused to buy xbox one it was so crappy. It was more expensive, not as good, it literally spied on you with the kinect, originally you wouldent be able to use it unless it was connected to the internet. I think microsoft is doing good things with series x and I will be picking that one up

@@Forest9528 Not ALL playstation exclusives will be on pc. Horizon zero dawn was a marketing strat to give pc gamers a reason to buy the ps5. They put their best selling game on the pc to show thrm how good their exclusives are and then they announced horizon 2 so that ppl who are invested in the story or simply liked the gameplay and want to play more of this would buy a ps5 for horizon 2. If they ported all their exclusives on the pc they would lose their main selling factor. And the main reason why xbox is so hated is because of its toxic community. I think the Red Ring of Death issue with the 360 also played a big part. So many people felt that they got burnt by Xbox when they got the RRoD out of warranty and I still see people who don't trust Xbox hardware because of it
Yes and no. Halo was a huge part of the 360s success no doubt, but MW, GTA 4 also the PS3 being delivered a year later with terrible looking games didn't help and Microsoft having a year's headstart ahead of Nintendo and Sony gave it a huge advantage in the first 3-4 years

Great overview. But I think the turnaround forgets the One S impact. With it, Microsoft had a slimmer, sleeker box that had 4K Blu ray, low power, silent running and at a very affordable price. I owned one for some months and it encouraged me to buy into the Xbox after being a lifetime Sony fan. I am going to buy a Series X, if they ever tell us the price and allow pre-orders....The PS5 looks meh right now and will wait for the slim version of that.
I just fear the time when Xbox Game Pass starts being the only place developers release their games and game ownership fades even faster into obsolescence. Already started with digital game ownership meaning you can't resell or let people borrow your games.

Sony spends a ton on the content with first-party studios and they want to keep it on this platform, if not you're getting fucked, that's the honest truth. I don't mind paying the 400-500 USD for the 6-7 years lifecycle of the device, in my mind it pays for itself through the content. They are keeping single-player games alive and well and currently it seems to be the only way to do so. Being a creator myself I know the pains of not being paid for the work you put in

Tired of ppl saying "omg series s only have 4 tflops and Xbox one x has 6tf, y would Microsoft release a weaker console". Its not weaker tho because architecture of rdna 2 is almost double the efficiency per tflop of GCN. Meaning it almost takes 2 GCN tflops to do the same thing as a 1Tflop rdna 2 gpu. Also series x is more powerful than ps5 but that doesn't matter to me because Sony has actual exclusives and 3rd party exclusivity deals i care about

MS doing bad marketing so far. They had their luster in December and then may happened.
@@ec5018 difference between ps5 and series X will be in resolution and honestly who cares. I'm going to be putting games at 60fps mode every chance I get. If a game runs at 4k 60 on series x then ps5 may have to do 1800p but honestly I can't tell the difference in resolution anyways. For me anything beyond 1440p looks crisp af. I'm getting a ps5 not a series x as I plan on building a gaming pc. Yes Microsoft started being the one who looked confident and competent but now that script has been reversed since we have seen real gameplay on the series x

On the other hand whoever is leading the PlayStation team is ruining the brand by porting their games to PC and killing off the parties and community’s. It’s sad. And that's a good thing. How should Microsoft improve if all their partners just told them what they want to hear? Criticism is important and helps them improve. I personally think Microsoft is going to nail it with the Xbox Series X. People are very hyped about it (as far as I can tell), it's more powerful than the PS5, it comes in 2 variants for those who don't want to pay the full price and don't need 4k gaming, it will have a massive UI overhaul, it will be able to instantly switch between games and many other aspects. Also Gamepass is actually a good deal. And the Play anywhere program is also great. You can play your games on your Xbox, your PC or even on the go on your phone. All with ONE very affordable subscription.
Over the years Microsoft has started to listen to its customers (in general, not only on Xbox) and made huge improvements, got more open minded and user friendly.

He said "STREAM games from last generation". There's no backward compatibility on the PS4, so if you have PS3 game discs and you have a PS4, you're out of luck and the only way to run old games on your PS4 is by... streaming them, with a PS Now subscription.
Also the fact that the Xbox one only had last gen first party games that were worthwhile, hence BC ,where as Sony had it better, so didn't make sense in investing in BC, which I doubt the PS4 is capable of because the Cell Processor was more powerful than the PS4 CPU.

They put their best selling game on the pc to show thrm how good their exclusives are and then they announced horizon 2 so that ppl who are invested in the story or simply liked the gameplay and want to play more of this would buy a ps5 for horizon 2. If they ported all their exclusives on the pc they would lose their main selling factor. And the main reason why xbox is so hated is because of its toxic community. Great overview. But I think the turnaround forgets the One S impact. With it, Microsoft had a slimmer, sleeker box that had 4K Blu ray, low power, silent running and at a very affordable price. I owned one for some months and it encouraged me to buy into the Xbox after being a lifetime Sony fan. I am going to buy a Series X, if they ever tell us the price and allow pre-orders....The PS5 looks meh right now and will wait for the slim version of that.

Sony spends a ton on the content with first-party studios and they want to keep it on this platform, if not you're getting fucked, that's the honest truth. I don't mind paying the 400-500 USD for the 6-7 years lifecycle of the device, in my mind it pays for itself through the content. They are keeping single-player games alive and well and currently it seems to be the only way to do so. Being a creator myself I know the pains of not being paid for the work you put in

looks like ms have already lost next gen i think its gonna be their last console. they might keep xbox as a service for pc possibly on other consoles.
Nah the consoles are very similar just depends on what games you like. Do you like Microsoft flight sim or Spider-Man. Just depends on preference
the console is what will be powering their servers, considering that xcloud and gamepass are clearly their tentpoles there is zero reason for them to not continue to invest in hardware since it helps their #1 business in Azure.

That is worth the investment as the business is profitable and they aim it to be even more so with their services. Why have 1 less hook into gamepass?
