Sorry if you mention it in the video but the cover art is wrong. The 2tb series x is not larger than the rest. It’s floating up higher in the video but it’s actually the same shell as the original with the optical drive. Plus I’m pretty sure the those new ones are replacements and there’s only really going to be 3 to choose from this holiday.
I still have a Xbox One S, works fine and plays all the games that interest me just fine. The games still look decent too. Not planning on upgrading at all, waiting to see what will be announced next year. I don't need the newest games or the newest system. As long as it has a disc drive, I can get plenty of older games I never played dirt cheap.
The 1TB series s is pretty much pointless at this point. Unless you buy the 512GB version to go the cheapest possible route you might as well spend the extra $50 to get the all digital series X
In my opinion 300usd for the series s is already expensive. The usual "promo" price of 250 is more sensible tho. As things are now the series x makes more sense, while on the other hand high storage series s makes the less sense
@zacharyobuch6352 Unless you use it to travel a lot like ii do. Work on a crusie ship nd wouldn’t want to take a Series X when ii literally take the Series S in my backpack with my laptop. They just need a Series S with a disc drive
If I didn't have my series X already, I would try to get that new limited edition 2TB series X. Double the storage (you'll eventually run out of space), and that black/green controller does look pretty cool
Xbox Series S has been my tertiary console this gen and it definitely lives up to its value. It is my Xbox first party machine and punches above it’s weight in a lot of experiences I’ve had with it.
I just bought a Series X just to play Red Dead on native 4K to really enjoy the visuals. I already have a PS5 and a Switch, I just love physical media and just wouldn’t let go of it just yet. Maybe never.
I just love the WHITE color of the xbox since360. I bought the series S just because the X was black and added a 2TB seagate card . And its awesome. now with the X in white , I preordered it. I dont care about discs, The all digital is just perfect , I sold all my discs game and bought it on digital. they use too many space , I its just the future .. xbox x in white robot its beautiful
I think this video covers most things, but it skips one element I think is still important. Physical media such as movies. If you watch movies then obviously pick up the Series X. Having that is huge for me since I still pick up 4K disks and watch on my home theater system. Between that, backwards compatibility, the better performance and larger storage, makes the series x worth it
Series X all the way. It has a disc drive, which means cheaper games, and a larger library of BC titles being playable. I can't see myself ever buying a Digital only console.
I bought a used Xbox Series X (original edition) for 300$ and I am more than happy with it! I need a disc drive since I already own a large collection of Xbox 360 and Xbox One game discs that I would like to continue playing.
For new gamers the one without the drive would be perfect. I have a bunch of old games on disc I like to use but if I was new to gaming I’d get that one. Pc gaming hasn’t used dvd or blue ray for ever and no one complains.
I have a 512GB Series S and got a 1TB expansion card (it became so convenient). I'll be looking to upgrade to a 1TB Digital Series X while keeping my 1TB Expansion card. That will be the perfect spot for me.

Sad that I paid retail price for the Xbox Series X a couple days ago, BUT, I'm definitely satisfied with the console. Only bought it for backwards compatibility games like the older Call of Duty games, and for Grand Theft Auto VI when it releases in 2025. I already have a PC for everything else.
Im exclusively a PC player, but im in the market for an Xbox because GTA6 is only gonna be for consoles at launch, and this video helped explain the lineup to me. I may end up going for the base Series X because I plan on preordering the physical disk copy, but I will consider the Series S if Im really tight on cash when the time comes for me to look at prices
I’m going for the digital Series X. Like Kevin I just want a digital console but I don’t want the graphics restrictions of the Series S. As a new XBox owner the Digital X is perfect for someone like me interested in GamePass like Kevin said but not necessarily interested in physical titles.
Firstly, only ever buy a Series S on sale. You’re talking more than 50% off. Secondly, if there is ever the option for a physical drive - buy that one. Digital downloads are extortionate. You could get GTA4 for example, today, for £18 on Microsoft store, or £3 on a physical disk! GTA 5 is still £30 and it’s 10 year old, but only £5 on a disk. This is important if you are the person who likes to keep their systems and revisit them at later dates. This protects you from licence issues, stores closing (like Nintendo loves to do) and years later those discs will cost peanuts.
Fuck that storage size though; what a fuckin waste of money. 512GB is a JOKE; cause the extra 12 gb is taken by the OS and it might as well be 500gb which is laughable in 2024.
@@asdfxcvbn746 You think it's smart to rely on 1 company to set prices for all games? You think pushing the market towards all digital is for convenience? It's to control the entire marketplace. I love my series s , and getting it for less that $230 was a sweet deal. Its my secondary console to my switch and I love it and been been playing it more than Nintendo
You know what would be a great addition to the Xbox Series family of consoles? A Series S Disc Edition. The same power and speed of Series S but with a disc drive. Although I guess you can just get a Xbox one X for that.
From this vid and me still being on the Xbox one, I’ve decided to upgrade myself to the series X with disc insertion cause I have many games I want to still play. Should I buy it now (July) or wait till November for discount.
USB NVMe SSD is a good option IMO and totally overlooked in the video - as long as you have enough space on the internal for the current games you want to play, shuffling between it and the main drive takes very little time and doesn’t need to be done often.
the 1TB series S is perfect for me. i already have a PS5 but i do miss having an xbox. if i want a disc version of a game, i buy the ps5 disc. not to mention ps5’s better exclusives, its a great package
I just got a Xbox Series X like 3 weeks ago from Walmart online it was on sale for $449.00 plus tax couldn't believe how nice the console looks in person
This is for me .. I’ve sold my xsx.. got xss till xsx all digital will release because most of my Xbox games are digital.. I’m tired of swapping discs.. but I love physical games- still collecting for ps3, ps4, ps5, ps vita & switch.. 1/3 on those platforms I have digital games So just Xbox & Steam deck all digital for me
I might upgrade to the digital series X. At least for major Xbox games like the future Gears of War game coming out. I’ll stay with the PlayStation for call of duty since I feel a bit comfortable playing in that system and controller feeling
I think the last point you made is the strongest case for the Series S. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford every console so i play what i can on PC, then I have a PS5 for exclusives, a switch because... Nintendo, and I bought the Series S to play stuff on game pass when people want to hop on something I don't have.
Series X is the only logical option of the group since it allows you to access so many physical games from the BC list and even series/one games, go to a used game store and you can get older or newer games for cheap. Keep in mind backward compatible games require an internet connection since they download modified versions of those old games, not off the disc (which they should). IMO the One X with an SSD upgrade is still very viable since you get many new games there anyways and you avoid the forced online check for smart delivery games which is forced on the Series.
The quick resume feature on Series S and X has made playing on an old One X completely undesireable, regardless of the reason. I still have my Project Scorpio Edition tho
@@kriswittakay Ya as much as I like the faster load time & quick resume. I despise having to put the disc in when I have it already downloaded to the console. It pisses me off.
My personal preference is keeping my Xbox One for my disc games and using my Series S for new titles and to play on GamePass. One downside not mentioned is if you use an external third party drive (and I’m not sure if this applies to even the Xbox brand SSD’s as well) but you will see that a lot of game titles will not play directly from your external SSD. You have to transfer the game to the console’s internal drive meaning you’ll be playing a transfer game to make room on the internal and also moving some games back to the external SSD 🤦♂️
Series S 512gb paired to a VRR 1080p 24 inch monitor, which you'll view from 80cm. This will give you the retina effect and 60/120fps with a low power consumption. Expanding the storage? Use a Samsung T7.
Even with a pretty good PC, i still love my Series S alot. i'm still impressed with how small it is compared to the performance of it. Sure if you have a PC its redundant to buy, but a lot of people out there only have a MacBook or no home computer at all.
I have an older gaming PC but I still bought Series S/X cause of the convenience factor. And you can take your Series S anywhere with you it's so small...
Why wasn't the Series S originally (1TB) and the Series X (2 TB) ? Is it because they just wanted us to buy the extra Seagate storage? If so then I might need to reconsider my options... I wanted to get the Series X/S since they came out but with the pandemic it was too expensive... then after the pandemic I couldn't find a shop that had it in stock... I want to buy a Series S (1 TB) within the next week or so and now I don't know...
For me honestly as a p.c. player who just want to play old games and want to chill on tv Either get a mini one or Honeslty 360 or One S or one x. If you have a pretty good deal Series s.
paying 100$ more (retail) for an extra tb ssd is honestly not bad for ppl like me looking to upgrade from outdated hardware (still on the original xbox one). my brother has the normal 1 tb series X and hes already running out of space so having that extra tb really helps out
Digital series x is being listed at the same price of the current regular series x. So pay the same, but get less? Who will buy that? At least sony has a 100 dollar difference and option to add the disc later. Does xbox even have a marketing team?
Just get a series x 1tb. YOU DON NOT HAVE TO USE THEIR EXTERNAL HDD TO STORE NEWER GAMES. I got a 2tb external on Amazon for $60 and have no problem playing newer games off of it.
I game primarily on PC, my PC is fairly close to a Series X. I have a One X still for all my physical discs and have been picking up every cheap game I can, while I can. I will likely get a Series X sometime in the future again, I had one for two months and it just sat next to my PC, aside from quick resume, it wasn't that very much of a change. Now I am stocking up on physical games and more are getting released as Series X only, I will cave sooner or later. I also picked up a Series S that need an HDMI repair, so I guess after I get it going, I will go from there.
I’m thinking about the series S mainly because I can’t really see well enough to tell all the things that people with normal vision can about the graphics, but I’m gonna go for the one terabyte digital edition, because me and games don’t get along. lol
In my case I bought the series S 1tb carbon black edition last year and it was really good for a while but I started noticing the lack of resolution on my 65 inch tv, specially next to my ps5 so Im now waiting for the series X digital and I will move the series S to my bedroom. But overall Im really satisfied with gamepass and thats from someone coming from Playstation.
Why wouldn’t you stick with it? The only new options are a white digital which is worse than your Xbox. And a 2TB option which you could just get an expansion. These aren’t performance upgrades
Due to some performance issues, (glitching) on my Xbox One, I'm looking to upgrade to an S or X. I'm also in the market to purchase a shiny new OLED TV. What does the resolution look like from the S on a 4K TV? Would the X look noticeably better? I only play COD if that matters. TIA
After using both consoles on a 4k OLED for some time, the Series X is definitely much better looking, but the S also looks really damn good. If you are only planning on playing Call of Duty, the Series S is probably the better option for you, if you don't mind the lack of a disc drive.
@@MikeC556 thanks for the input. I went ahead and bought the X partly for the larger memory and superior graphics but mostly due to wanting the drive. I have quite a few older games on disc as well as close to a hundred movies on dvd.
I’m not giving up my disc. I’ve been a Xbox user for 15 years. Sold my Xbox 360 with Kinect and most of my game (big mistake). I currently have the Xbox one s with Kinect (I love my Kinect, wish they still made games for it) but I am strongly considering the new Xbox limited edition as a luxury console 😮💨
The only disadvantage of digital at this point is not being able to sell your games and having to pay online store prices. Physical games are driven by fear of the digital store pulling games or loosing your account, which is no different than loosing your physical collection to a house fire. People also forget that hackers always find a way to fix these issues. They did it with the 3ds, they did it with the Vita, the Wii U and they’re gonna do it to the xbox 360. The digital future isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Besides being able to use remote play and have access to your ENTIRE LIBRARY is really sweet.
But so you have any idea when the Digital series X will launch?? Cuz I haven't bought a physical game in like 10 years, and I really want a white series X
I think the simple answer is Series X for a "permanent" living room situation, and having a Series S (along with Game Pass) if you plan on taking your Xbox with you on trips or the likes.... and of course, the answer of storage and disk space is soley dependant on if you care for physical copies (which, i don't) and if you have an extensive library of games.... I'd say, the only sad thing is that, as of yet, there's no easy portable option that gives you Series X performance.... maybe when that cylindrical XBOX (heh, the irony lol) releases, that may be the option that checks that box
Hi , I have a question and that is : Many videos told me that they would discontinue the xbox series s carbon black version and u would be only able to use the white 1tb version so i wanna know if u can still play games and get system and game updates on the black carbon version eventhough its discontinued because im planning to buy the carbon black version so if the games and system gets no more updates then its pointless to but one , plzzz answer
7:29 not that I'm a PlayStation player but they have been backwards compatibility for the longest time with physical discs, so it's nothing new in the gaming industry.
I am new to xbox so is the xbox series x the one that plays discs? I collect physical media and haven't yet gotten into xbox gaming. I have been collecting ps3 and ps4/Nintendo systems for a while but the xbox way of releasing systems is confusing. I want to own physical copies of my games soooo is the xbox series x the one that does that? Too many to keep track of 😅 I specifically want to play the Fable series and wondered if the x will play that? Thanks for any advice to this newbie! 🥳
Glad i waited to buy the Black Series S 1TB i love the colour and it has extra storage. As soon as it released i thought they'd do a White Series X and leave it at that. I don't see the reason to Keep on the older X and S now and a new revision with 2TB should have just been the White Series X.
you want them to create a new design and change their whole manufacturing designs..etc? maybe if they were selling hundreds of millions of iphones but consoles? hardly worth it
And if the redesigned it, it would be 600 to pay for development since it’s already halfway through its life cycle. I can tell you know nothing about simple economics
Just got a Series X OG for 430 euro. Pretty happy with it, it's really a lot faster than the One X. Had to get one of those proprietary cards to expand the storage by 1tb though, as even with just my smart delivery games, the internal storage filled up. I will get a ROG Ally tommorow becouse of native Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere Games like Lies of P and Gears 5 in my old Xbox Libary.

Series X with disc drive plays 4K movies as well as bluray and dvd. Also backwards compatable. A best buy.

Thank you for the breakdown.
Was trying to explain this over the phone to a friend but this simplifies things haha.
You can get a used Series X for the same price.

Bought Series S New for $262, Elite S used for $50
Extra Paddle for $15
WD 512gb ssd slot for $70
Gamepass annual for $82
Just for couch relaxation
One thing I noticed, if you’re playing competitive games with your console at 98% or above storage it can have a massive impact on performance !!
No it doesn't that's why they take 20% of your disc space just for that purpose
I bought a used Xbox Series X (original edition) for 300$ and I am more than happy with it! I need a disc drive since I already own a large collection of Xbox 360 and Xbox One game discs that I would like to continue playing.
Just have a 360
Good video. I only need an Xbox Series S for NCAA Football 25 and the latest NBA2K.
No cap me too
For new gamers the one without the drive would be perfect. I have a bunch of old games on disc I like to use but if I was new to gaming I’d get that one. Pc gaming hasn’t used dvd or blue ray for ever and no one complains.
I have a Series X and its great but honestly looking back on it I probably would have been fine with the Series S.
I had Series S and upgraded to X for better picture on Doom Eternal. Only thing I miss is Series S smaller footprint :(
I have a 512GB Series S and got a 1TB expansion card (it became so convenient). I'll be looking to upgrade to a 1TB Digital Series X while keeping my 1TB Expansion card. That will be the perfect spot for me.
Have the Series X but unfortunately quit working after 2 years, so just bought the digital series x so far so good
I'm on a series s and patiently waiting for the digital sx

I’m in the same situation tho I think imma get the X just because I wanna have the best graphics possible
For me I’m thinking about the series X digital for the holiday because almost all games are on game pass
Brilliant job. Thanks, I hadn’t heard of the new digital Series X. Apparently it comes to Australia in October, just in time for Xmas!
I'm aiming for my series X for Christmas 🎄 hopefully the new one still around wouldn't mind having that!
I’m going for the digital Series X. Like Kevin I just want a digital console but I don’t want the graphics restrictions of the Series S. As a new XBox owner the Digital X is perfect for someone like me interested in GamePass like Kevin said but not necessarily interested in physical titles.
Facts. It was only a little bit more than the 1tb series s so I just bought the digital series X instead.
It’s nice to have options, the 512gb Series S has been good enough for my needs.
Fuck that storage size though; what a fuckin waste of money. 512GB is a JOKE; cause the extra 12 gb is taken by the OS and it might as well be 500gb which is laughable in 2024.
Yeah it is, I have a PS5 as my main console but I have the Xbox series S in my bedroom for when I am sick/want to play games all day
The Series S has such a disadvantage because of used physical Xbox 360 and One games.
I love having that eBay option. Gonna be a sad day when we lose that
who the hell still buys physical? thats like buying a music album physical in 2024. unless you're a DJ & want the vinyl, no one does that.
@@asdfxcvbn746 You think it's smart to rely on 1 company to set prices for all games? You think pushing the market towards all digital is for convenience? It's to control the entire marketplace. You do get a lot of the main ones like Gears and Fable on Game Pass but yes if you care that deeply about physical media and back compat the series S is not the console for you.

Many questions answerd for me good video.
You know what would be a great addition to the Xbox Series family of consoles? A Series S Disc Edition. The same power and speed of Series S but with a disc drive. Although I guess you can just get a Xbox one X for that.
Last year they were meant to release a series S usb disk drive
thank you for inspiring and educating with such passion!
From this vid and me still being on the Xbox one, I’ve decided to upgrade myself to the series X with disc insertion cause I have many games I want to still play. Should I buy it now (July) or wait till November for discount.
Great question. I’m in the same boat. Not familiar with what kind of sales to expect say in November
The normal x is the one i choose cause the option of physical games is always nice and i already have a vew external drives so the normal x for me
USB NVMe SSD is a good option IMO and totally overlooked in the video - as long as you have enough space on the internal for the current games you want to play, shuffling between it and the main drive takes very little time and doesn’t need to be done often.
the 1TB series S is perfect for me. i already have a PS5 but i do miss having an xbox. if i want a disc version of a game, i buy the ps5 disc. not to mention ps5’s better exclusives, its a great package
1/3 on those platforms I have digital games
So just Xbox & Steam deck all digital for me
I might upgrade to the digital series X. At least for major Xbox games like the future Gears of War game coming out.
I’ll stay with the PlayStation for call of duty since I feel a bit comfortable playing in that system and controller feeling
Fantastic review.
The answer is yes, you most definitely want the bigger hard drive. Blows my mind the hard drive is the same 1tb that my Xbox one was.
I was leaning more towards the Series S because of affordability but man does it sound sweet to have the option to play physical disks
I got a 1Tb Xbox S for $300, its a great buy and I play discs on my Xbox1, so I got what I need in terms if reverse physical compatability.
Please list the games that you play are the little clips of the games that you're playing throughout the video. Thank you
My personal preference is keeping my Xbox One for my disc games and using my Series S for new titles and to play on GamePass.
It didn't have more storage because then it would cost more to buy
After all the series s is supposed to be the cheapest next Gen console but I don't know why the series x wasn't originally 2 tb
Feel free to criticize my answers but that's why I think they didn't have that much storage
For me honestly as a p.c. player who just want to play old games and want to chill on tv Either get a mini one or Honeslty 360 or One S or one x. If you have a pretty good deal Series s.
I have the series S on a 1440p monitor and for multiplayer I use 1080p at 120hz. Super fun still
3:11...hilarious how hard you struggled to make that $600 mistake sound like a good deal 🤣🤣
paying 100$ more (retail) for an extra tb ssd is honestly not bad for ppl like me looking to upgrade from outdated hardware (still on the original xbox one). my brother has the normal 1 tb series X and hes already running out of space so having that extra tb really helps out
Digital series x is being listed at the same price of the current regular series x.
The 2 TB Xbox would be the best option to get if I didn't already have a Series X console.
Same haha
I’m thinking about the series S mainly because I can’t really see well enough to tell all the things that people with normal vision can about the graphics, but I’m gonna go for the one terabyte digital edition, because me and games don’t get along. lol
In my case I bought the series S 1tb carbon black edition last year and it was really good for a while but I started noticing the lack of resolution on my 65 inch tv, specially next to my ps5 so Im now waiting for the series X digital and I will move the series S to my bedroom. But overall Im really satisfied with gamepass and thats from someone coming from Playstation.
I got my Series X , Diablo 4 bundle for $380 after tax , brand new on a sale last year. So I'll stick with that for awhile.
Yes i also have the same bundle and i am not seeing the difference in performance in the new releases so i am doing the same
Why wouldn’t you stick with it? The only new options are a white digital which is worse than your Xbox. And a 2TB option which you could just get an expansion. These aren’t performance upgrades
@@toptiertech7291 I have a PC , so this is my last Xbox anyways

Fortunately since I already own a Carbon Black Series S with 1 TB expansion card, I don't need another console any time soon!
I would just think it's the case not the console it's still a s but do some more research. It's kinda like having a limited edition console.

Right now the Xbox series x digital is on sale is it better to buy it over the series s ?
I’m not a Microsoft guy. I’ve been looking into emulation and stumbled across the Xbox Dev mode. Are these “new” systems still capable?
Digital xbox series x is such a lazy design, they literally just ripped the disc drive out and painted it white
But still list it at the same price of a regular series x. Who will buy that?
you want them to create a new design and change their whole manufacturing designs..etc? maybe if they were selling hundreds of millions of iphones but consoles? hardly worth it
And if the redesigned it, it would be 600 to pay for development since it’s already halfway through its life cycle. I can tell you know nothing about simple economics
@@wyo_garage20 ya no one would buy a $600 digital 1tb console, when the disc version is cheaper. You would have to be a fool.
@@b4rs629 That’s the point. It didn’t make sense so MS didn’t build one.
Just got a Series X OG for 430 euro. Pretty happy with it, it's really a lot faster than the One X. Had to get one of those proprietary cards to expand the storage by 1tb though, as even with just my smart delivery games, the internal storage filled up. Disc drive is essential for me as I have a ton of 360 and some OG Xbox games, as well as a bunch of X1 games.
Looking forward to the next few years of gaming on it, as there is a bunch of stuff coming down the line, as well as a very healthy online fighting game scene to help justify the price of game pass. Although, MvC Arcade Collection NEEDS to come to Xbox.
👍 What camera did you use to record this video? Thanks
I traded in my XSX and kinda regret it, but did so because my PS5 messed up (that's my primary console).
