Given what we know about VRAM and game optimizations, it makes sense that the One X is still a viable platform. Go take a look at the laptop and PC side of RUclips and you'll see budget builds and budget laptops capable of giving a decent experience people are okay with and all things considered, the One X blows all those budget systems away. The Xbox One X is a great deal still, especially for budget gamers and people who aren't too deep into the technical. It's also a great web surfer too, plays physical BD disc.
I have a Project Scorpio One X I bought used and it's an amazing console. I bought it after a 10 year hiatus of not playing when MWII DMZ dropped. Gave it to my daughter recently who now plays fortnite on it and got myself a Series X. Good video.
I own both. Xbox One X can do things the Series X can't. It can play Kinect games with an adapter, and it can also play 3D movies! So, I kept it when I got my Series X. It also fits on shelves and runs VERY cool and quiet.
I loved my One X got it November 2017 if I'm not wrong and adored every second of it, I ended up trading it in in 2020 when I got my Series X and I love my new/old baby, and Now that I got my LegionGo last December I finally got my PC fix too So I'm in Heaven.. 💯
I got my 2k20 limited edition one x with 2 controllers for $130. External ssd for the win on load times, lol. I’m playing Jedi Survivor right now, and it’s doing amazing. It’s hard to justify the expense of the Series X when the One X is so good!
One X with an SSD is absolutely God tier. All the backwards compatibility, great outputs, and none of the long term reliability issues around the Series X (e.g. look on youtube for the NVME pairing issues that are bricking them.)
@@Alnero80 You aren't able to change the internal storage so you'll have to get an external drive. The Samsung T7 SSD is about $100 right now during the holidays. It's only got 1 terabyte but that's not bad for an 8th gen Xbox.
That's the same One X (Gears of War) I have. I had the Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 slim that I got when it was released. I also got a Gears of War vault for it. It was really cool because the crimson omen skull would pulsate red whenever I chainsawed an enemy in Gears. I wish that I never had of sold them. I still need to upgrade to a Series X, but I still enjoy my One X.
I don’t know why RUclipsrs keep calling the Series X/S “next-gen”. We’re more than halfway through the system’s lifespan. This is the current generation? 🤷♂️
I got an Xbox One X when it came out in 2017 and was very pleased, but it started having heating issues last year. I didn't feel the need to upgrade since it played almost all of the same games in 4k, but I ended up buying a Series X. I've had it for over a year now and its great. It is a much bigger upgrade than I had anticipated, and I have really enjoyed gaming on it.
The only problem with the last gen Xbox Ones is some of the indie games that should work on an standard Xbox one aren't playable. Many of them are on game pass. Most of them are but its annoying when playing on my old vcr Xbox one. The Series S is better for this but no disk drive and older games look like the vcr Xbox. picked up an series X new for 350 last year but was satisfied with the series S except for the disk drive and that is the only reason I pick up the series X where I could retire the old Xbox One vcr edition. I was using it for the disk drive for physical games I had and some I find cheap in my local used market.
Also, a secret way to speed up the home menu and store menus is to go to display settings and put the resolution down to 1080 P but don’t worry when you load up any games it will still play the games at the maximum resolution give it a try. It’s sped up the menu by a lot in my testing
The One X was a beast of a machine when it released, and actually to this day it's still a powerful unit. The only problem with it was that garbage Jaguar CPU which held damn near every game to 30FPS. Besides that, it was a damn good system.
Currently watching this on me One X❤ Couple of deets I thought should be mentioned is that under real load the One X is a biiiit noisy, also it freakin weighs a little too (since it is a tank ofc), but it’s impossible not to love it given the amount of fun you get for the price 😊
I got a hand-me-down Xbox One S as a Christmas present back in 2022 (I think?) and it was the first "current gen" game system we had since the HDMI port on our PS4 got busted. We got to play games like Cyberpunk 2077 & Halo MCC. It served us well for a good while, but it wouldn't read some of our disc games. So I decided to make the jump to Series X for Xmas 2024. And what a jump it was!! The loading times alone were more than worth it! Playing Halo MCC & Black Ops 6 multiplayer via Game Pass Ultimate is pretty fun. Playing Xbox 360 games like Assassin's Creed Black Flag & GTA 4 at 4k/60 fps via back-compat is a gamechanger! And don't even get me started on quick resume!!
It may be possible to change your HDR footage by telling your editing software to interpret it differently. Otherwise cool video. I use my 1X as a secondary console with an SSD. My only issue is no matter how much I replace the thermal paste it still runs super loud.
I have an xbox one x with ssd, i view it as a series s its basically the same console except they you don't have "next gen", crazier is that u have an unpopulated m.2 type of storage slot on the bottom of the pcb. And i forgot to mention 1080p 120hz/fps is possible so its likely a beast that should get the new firmware it could genuinely be a next gen console 🤔
Its honestly amazing how the Xbox One X and even the PS4 Pro are still capable gaming machines even now. I still like the current gen consoles like the PS5 as a physical media device and the Series S for being a tiny little powerhouse, but there's still tons of games coming out that don't even need that much power either. Sort of makes this console gen feel like more of an afterthought or a stop gap.
Another way to look at it is having cross generation games means the current gen systems can run at higher resolution, frame rates, and activate more advanced graphical features. It just means the games are scalable.
The One-X can also run enhanced versions of games that the Series-S cannot. The Tomb Raider games spring to mind, the Series S can only run the normal version using backwards compatibility and not the enhanced One-X versions (which look a lot better).
@kyorin6526 that's not really a hardware limitation though. That's just a lack of proper porting. Which is unfortunate. This is one benefit of pc. You can play 30 year old games on modern desktops.
@@aboveaveragebayleaf9216I read that the enhanced OneX versions of the Tomb Raider games were not possible on the Series S as it doesn't have enough ram.
I just recently bought a One X for $125 with 2 elite controllers and a couple of games, I was upgrading from an original Xbox One and feel it was a great deal. Im primarily a PS5 gamer and just needed a system for the Xbox exclusives and the One X fits that bill perfectly for me.
I'm a graphic connoisseur, and I can tell the difference in the details. I don't don't get me wrong. I'm not pooping on the one ax, the 1X is beautiful. But it's more washed out, it's in the series x I never had one the xbox one x so I couldn't really tell the difference. Because I didn't know what you were playing so to me. But once I figured out which one was more washed out, I knew yes. The series actually more beautiful
@aboveaveragebayleaf9216 all the serious x games is optimized to run at 4K. A 120 Hz, yeah, it's the buttload against it. Don't run at that, but um, they still have it and Call of Duty. Actually, mostly the aborting games have like gta Call of Duty Fortnite. I think you don't know what you're talking about i have never ran a game at 30 Hz. If I did, I would know and I would never touch it again. I am a graphics kind of guy.I want the best graphics if it's not as beautiful as possible.I don't want to play the stupid game
@GamerPro-he1dq lol serious x games? Lol what? I come from the land of pc where we actually have a graphics menu. We can see what settings are actually making a change. You are at the mercy of the developers to choose most of the time. One of the first things to go is often resolution. Sure there are lighter games that run 4k 60, but anything actually graphically demanding will run more like 1080p-1440p at 60fps. Some games even get to the 720p-900p range at times. I actually have no problem with sub 4k resolutions btw, it's just funny to me how they put 4k on the box and people believe them. It's all marketing bs.
@aboveaveragebayleaf9216 ohh, you're talking about the one x no, i'm talking about the xbox series x my bad you're right. It's not native. No one's talking about this. The whole video is about the newer Xbox. I thought you were talking about how the xbox series x isn't powerful at all.The x plus one is more powerful. That's why I got confused
@GamerPro-he1dq even the series x doesn't always run native 4k. Not as much as you'd think. It's a good systems. Especially for the price, but it's not a super computer. There are 4k games, but they are usually on the less demanding side. Call of duty is an example of a game that prioritizes performance over advanced visuals. That probably does 4k 60, but a lot of these more demanding games are not at native resolution. At least not at 60fps. There are absolutely times where the series x gets down in the 900p region in demanding games doing 60fps.
@@Ch-ew9tm Actually it does. Because all next gen games need to be optimized for both series x and s, devs don't want to be making games for Xbox. Less exclusives on Xbox is already a problem, if game devs start to abandon the Xbox then the series S takes all the blame for Xbox losing to Playstation.
I do own an Xbox 360 and a digital Xbox Series S but... the Xbox One X is pretty impressive in 2024 and with the right price worth picking up to add to the collection.
Got an internal SSD in my One X and it makes a world of difference in terms of stability. Load times still are no where near as good as my Series S, but still a huge improvement.
They always have good deals on the series X I brought mine off ebay last year for 414 came in excellent condition two controller and all the cords. That series X output games makes them look so rich and smooth even the backward compatible games as well. I fell in love with xbox because of gamepass. I always been a Playstation fan but it is something about how powerful the series x is and gamepass makes it worth every penny
The thing that showed me that the OneX days were numbered was Zen's StarTrek Pinball table. It ran like a dog on the OneX making it basically unplayable, but it runs buttery smooth on the SeriesX. I loved my OneX, especially the OneX-enhanced Tomb Raider games (that the Series-S can't even run), but in the end, I had to jump to the Series X.
There’s no reason to sell old consoles you don’t get hardly any money for them. Not near enough. Something I’ve spent thousands of hours playing is not going for sale on eBay or Facebook for $100 or less 😂 idk why people sell them
@@Reefer-Rampage69 I agree with you, I still have my PS3 as well. Most people I know throw their old stuff away or sell it for scraps, because to them something becomes obsolete fairly quick. For me it represents a great era and I respect the technology of the time and how much I was looking forward to it. Games are unique on every generation due to the limits of that generation and I hope to keep all my old gaming stuff.
What should happen is the upgraded consoles should still be supported for at least 3 years after the base version has been discontinued or not supported. For eg, Xbox One X should have a few Xbox Series X titles which won't be on the base Xbox One just to extend it's lifespan. There are current gen games that could clearly run on Xbox One X but are being held back because of Xbox One/S.
After Xbox 360 I never bothered with PS4 or Xbox one until just this month. I picked up a Xbox one S for 60euro and I'm loving it. Games are super cheap and the controller is really nice. I'm usually playing on PC but I couldn't resist trying out the one S since it's so cheap now, I'm glad I did.
I picked up a xb1x for $100 early this year. I instantly installed a new 1tb ssd on it. The Ui is snappy enough and the loading times are not bad. I love that it has a disc drive ❤
I use my series X for my living room, the One X has been retired to my bedroom as it’s for those late night game sessions farther away from the smaller TV. It’s a great alternative to the series S as the performance is still very much there and it does have a disk drive, etc. considering to get an SSD just to beef up the load times a little bit as sometimes that can be a pain, but otherwise no complaints from me!
Well, for me, I had been a console only gamer for years until roughly 2 weeks ago. After discovering that with the next-gen fo4 patch required mods to only boot up when connected online. I decided to get an entry pc. I have now repurchased fo4 form GOG with mods from Nexus, along with some other games. I now have controll of that game and can put everything including the mods on an external ssd. Plus I am hooked to my 4k tv and everything looks stunning.
an thing that i like so much on my One X is that the Fat and One S games looks so much better on One X, like Battlefield 4, the fps and resolution looks better and the game didn't even have an update to One X like Dynamic Resolution
Cool video. Makes me want to dig my One X out of storage. One piece of feedback though, it looks like you're capturing all your game footage in HDR. It might look better on RUclips if you capture SDR footage.
Cheers appreciate it! Yes HDR is enabled, it gives the cinematic style. I wrote it in the video at a couple of points, for instance here: 04:33 in the top corners. I do not own a capture card and record directly via the inbuilt software, so I would say colors are around 90% accurate.
I really enjoy your content! I bought the Series X about two months ago. I chose it to ensure long-term durability and to enjoy games like Diablo 4 at 60 FPS.
As someone who has owned both systems, i don't really feel like I gave up much by downgrading. I will say, I mostly play older titles on my Xbox anyway, so having the newest, baddest system didn't make much sense. I didn't go with a Series S because there is no disc drive, and I watch a lot of movies on Blu-ray and I didn't wat to lose that feature. Overall the One X is still a really good value for someone who doesn't have to have the newest and best. There are plenty of good deals on both consoles though.
The cool thing about the Series X is that it does consume a bit more power but comes with a lot more power inside and it's a good way of showing off the efficiency gains in the hardware itself. The Series X is also technically more power efficient than even the PS5 despite both consoles being extremely similar in terms of specs. Also it's funny you showed Halo 5 when you mentioned PC because its the only Halo game to be locked to the Xbox as it never came to PC with the Master Chief Collection
The original VCR Xbox One is also still surprisingly good. If I can see the pores on people’s faces and tons of intricate details on a used VCR Xbox One for maybe $40, then I think that’s fine. It’s got backwards compatibility and runs games great. In real usage, you’ll barely notice the minor differences in resolution. What the Xbox One X mostly does well is performance improvements. Any games that had iffy performance were generally fixed across the board on one x. What’ll help more than spending $100 is messing with your tv’s color and sharpening settings on a vcr Xbox One. Still, the best part of Xbox isn’t game pass, it’s the used disc games that cost basically nothing.
I just ordered the new 2Tb Galaxy Edition. I really been wanting one.. My One X has been the love of my life for years now,l. I hope I don’t Regret Spending $650
Is 2024, and I still have my one x. Still playing all the cross gen games with no problems at all. As my ps4 pro does. Btw, put an ssd on a one x, and you’ll have a more fast console. I feel I don’t have the necessities to jump on the nex gen for at least another half year. But we will see, as I think games house will start finishing making cross gen games. From the next year.
I've been playing BO6 on my One X, it runs and looks as good as my PC. It's a great console to pick up right now, especially with Xbox One disk games selling for so so cheap and yet the games still look good, even just as a game pass box it's worth it
I'm buying one for gamepass. My PS5 keeps crashing when I try to load up MWIII and I refuse to pay such a price for BO6. Gamepass feels like it should fix all my problems in life. I also want to play Starfield and Halo
Nice and fun video ❤ I am struggling to choose between One X and SS, but I would like to take it only for the Forza Horizon 4. I have 4k 55" philips tv, so guys, please help to chose which one will be better😅 for less money ofc 😊
I have a One X in my bedroom, that I originally got for watching 4K movies on. But I decided to put a SSD in it and damn if I don’t game on it more than I do my Series X now.
Have an Xbox one x and series X. I wish they kept the look of the OX. Its easily the best looking console out of everything i have (which is all of them). A great media device. (Also own multiple gaming PCs too)
I swapped an Xbox One X for a Series S. Mine kept overheating, even after cleaning it and repasting it. I sold it for £80 and bought a Series S for £120. I upgraded to the Series S for the load times and to enjoy Dev mode.
I have both. But the Series X is faster in loading and performance. Quick Resume is a great feature which is Series X only. Both run 4K for games and streaming apps. In my opinion the Series X is the best console I've ever owned in terms of the overall experience. Been using it since day 1 and no issues for 4 years. I liked it so much that I'm getting a brand new Series X.
At this point the best machine to invest in is a PS5 Slim, If you're on an Xbox just make the dive for a Series S or X with a disc drive if you have the physical media.

@@davegc1 replace the thermo pads and paste to take full advantage of the vapor chamber....new games will push the console to run hard and loud if you have old or poor quality thermo paste.
@@Lavoss05 I did that already (vid on my channel) and the Xbox was dirty af. I want to replace the pads as well but I had to order new ones.
I picked up my one x 3 years ago for $40 on FB because it was overheating. I redid the thermal paste, upgraded it to a 1tb SSD and man rams great it made me sell my series s... Most games I run on PC but I'll play with this system when I want to sit on my couch.
Good video.
Appreciate it, and thanks for sharing :)
Did you upgrade the Xbox one x with the ssd drive?
Still playing on my scorpio edition its definitely still in the game
I own both. Xbox One X can do things the Series X can't. It can play Kinect games with an adapter, and it can also play 3D movies! So, I kept it when I got my Series X. It also fits on shelves and runs VERY cool and quiet.
Yeah i need Kinect for Xbox one X

I loved my One X got it November 2017 if I'm not wrong and adored every second of it, I ended up trading it in in 2020 when I got my Series X and I love my new/old baby, and Now that I got my LegionGo last December I finally got my PC fix too So I'm in Heaven.. 💯
Also have a series X and a steam deck. Still kept my one X tho. An extra Xbox for those halo LAN parties
I got my 2k20 limited edition one x with 2 controllers for $130. External ssd for the win on load times, lol. I’m playing Jedi Survivor right now, and it’s doing amazing. It’s hard to justify the expense of the Series X when the One X is so good!
Where did you got it from ??
Xbox One X is still good in 2025. Except the hard drive does make the console feel slow in comparison
One X with an SSD is absolutely God tier. All the backwards compatibility, great outputs, and none of the long term reliability issues around the Series X (e.g. look on youtube for the NVME pairing issues that are bricking them.)
A Samsung SSD flies on the One X.
*sigh* newer tech always has issues
@@MrJflomario which Samsung ssd specifically do you recommend? I got my son a one x for Xmas because I want to upgrade it
@@Alnero80 You aren't able to change the internal storage so you'll have to get an external drive.
The Samsung T7 SSD is about $100 right now during the holidays. It's only got 1 terabyte but that's not bad for an 8th gen Xbox.
Dev mode emulators...

I have one x with 2TB SSD drive. Its fast and smooth . Games are loading pretty much in same time like on my PC .

@@simplyrome Iick my baIIs before commenting
Fr it isn’t really next gen anymore but from the lack of anything going on with the consoles it still feels that way
@@simplyrome Own two of them.
I'm guessing they say next gen bc alot of ppl still play xbox one and haven't upgraded yet
The one X felt like a more complete console
I got an Xbox One X when it came out in 2017 and was very pleased, but it started having heating issues last year. I didn't feel the need to upgrade since it played almost all of the same games in 4k, but I ended up buying a Series X. I've had it for over a year now and its great. It is a much bigger upgrade than I had anticipated, and I have really enjoyed gaming on it.
Got a Series X from a second Hand Website refurbished Like New condition with 3 years Warranty for under 400 Euros. Pretty happy with that ☺️
The only problem with the last gen Xbox Ones is some of the indie games that should work on an standard Xbox one aren't playable.
I have my Series X and PS5 at 1080p as well because I care more about framerate. PS3 and 360 get 720p.
Been telling ppl not to waste their money on the xbox series S, if they're not gonna get the Series X, go with the One X.
Series S sucks and I saw how much sacrifice Marvel rivals did to it
Got mine for $100 and is an emulation beast 🤷🏻♂️
@@kenobi639what’s an emulation beast? One X?
The One X was a beast of a machine when it released, and actually to this day it's still a powerful unit. The only problem with it was that garbage Jaguar CPU which held damn near every game to 30FPS. Besides that, it was a damn good system.
Currently watching this on me One X❤
Couple of deets I thought should be mentioned is that under real load the One X is a biiiit noisy, also it freakin weighs a little too (since it is a tank ofc), but it’s impossible not to love it given the amount of fun you get for the price 😊
Agreed it can be a bit noisy, but it's not among the loudest.. *cough* PS4. Really happy that you love the console 😃
Hey, this channel is pretty good! Earned a sub! :D
Thank you so much! Super happy that you my fellow fella enjoy my work!! More to come 😊
I got a hand-me-down Xbox One S as a Christmas present back in 2022 (I think?) and it was the first "current gen" game system we had since the HDMI port on our PS4 got busted.
That's odd. Replacing the thermal paste on my sons one made a massive difference. Is the fan or any of the vents blocked?
@@kyorin6526 no it’s gotten so bad that I literally have it turned around where it’s set up so that way there is no chance of anything messing with it
@@JustJack4268 Very strange.
Next to my gaming pc i still rock the one x cyberpunk edition and love it!
I have the Xbox One X with the upgraded WD 2tb SSD. Loads everything smooth and fast comparison to the HDD. Love my unit.
Watching this from my Xbox 360
The one x impresses with dolby vision hdr 10 and 120 hz at 1440 and 60fps at 4k its still solid
Ive got both and the main difference is speed
My series x is 10× faster. But thats really it.
4:04 I'll admit, that was some boss sht right there lmao
Gambit af 😂
I'm a graphic connoisseur, and I can tell the difference in the details. I don't don't get me wrong. I'm not pooping on the one ax, the 1X is beautiful.
But it's more washed out, it's in the series x I never had one the xbox one x so I couldn't really tell the difference.
Because I didn't know what you were playing so to me.
But once I figured out which one was more washed out, I knew yes.
The series actually more beautiful
Not to mention that neither really do native 4k 60 fps very often. Even 30fps games probably rarely run native 4k on xbox one x.
Great video. You just got yourself a new subscriber 😊
Xbox shouldn't have made the Series S. Its really held this gen back.
It hasn't at all
It doesn’t though, few games actually run at 4k 60fps at the moment.
Damn yall understanding weak asl@@DinoGuy1969
Series s is a beast.
Did you seriously record this video in 1080p when reviewing 4k xboxs?

This video was funny, informational, and smooth!! Loved it my guy!!! Subscribed!!
Love my Xbox One X for Kodi watching & streaming at its finest! I'll pick up a used Series X eventually!
They always have good deals on the series X I brought mine off ebay last year for 414 came in excellent condition two controller and all the cords. That series X output games makes them look so rich and smooth even the backward compatible games as well. I fell in love with xbox because of gamepass.
0:48 original Playstation 3! This man is a collector💪
lol who doesn’t still have their PS3 😂
16:34 brooo that’s LITERALLY the same wallpaper I have on my desktop!!! 😅😂
Thx for this awesome video ;)
I'm definitely going to upgrade at some point but I do still play one x and I'll never get rid of it..
One important thing to remind is that Xbox Series X can show that 120fps only on televisions which supports 120hz plus you need at least HDMI 2.1.
Wrong, 1440p 120 hz works on monitor with hdmi 2.0
I have used my Series X since 2020 release, but still value my 2017 project Scorpio. Since day one, the One X has been nothing, but impressive.
@@Odeboo Ah cool I see it. I disagree about the cinematic styling but it’s your video, so it’s your rules. Rock on dude 😊
I really enjoy your content! I bought the Series X about two months ago. I chose it to ensure long-term durability and to enjoy games like Diablo 4 at 60 FPS.
Did anyone else see him sling that disc into the one X @4:05? That was impressive.
Me 2. I had a series s and traded it in for the Xbox Series x. I don't really notice the difference between the 2. But, I'm happy to have it.
I was perfectly content with my One X until it died last year.
I planned on getting another One X, but it made more sense to upgrade for the price.
As an owner of both, think of an Xbox one X as a slower Series X. Graphics look almost identical. It's just large loading times
Well made video brother😊 props
Having both I have to admit since Series X came along, can't look back. Loading and boot up lightning fast. Definitely next gen in my eyes...
Absolutely, glad you enjoy it!
I’ve had my Xbox one S for 7+ years and I still love it.

I bought a one X today. Cheaper than an S/X series and I play No Mans Sky and RdR2
Nice and fun video ❤
I am struggling to choose between One X and SS, but I would like to take it only for the Forza Horizon 4. I have 4k 55" philips tv, so guys, please help to chose which one will be better😅 for less money ofc 😊
Xbox One X is a great console but it cannot maintain a steady 60fps in COD MW3 and Black Ops 6.
I have ps5 and xbox one x. Perfect combo for me
I have a One X in my bedroom, that I originally got for watching 4K movies on. But I decided to put a SSD in it and damn if I don’t game on it more than I do my Series X now.
Have an Xbox one x and series X. I wish they kept the look of the OX. Its easily the best looking console out of everything i have (which is all of them). A great media device. (Also own multiple gaming PCs too)
The way u threw that disc into the tray made me like the video! Ay ya yay mama mia!

Would you still recommend the Xbox one x now? (2 months later)
I loved this vid, really reminded me of pre 2020 yt
4k 120 being upscaled ofc it cant run 4k native
If i remember correctly you still had to connect the games to the Internet and you still have to install the game to HDD ,
Yea.. That's why Xbox has been losing for 2 generations now. Forced always online.
Yep, the sad, but true reality.
At this point the best machine to invest in is a PS5 Slim, If you're on an Xbox just make the dive for a Series S or X with a disc drive if you have the physical media.
I still use my XBOXONEX, haven’t upgraded to SERIES X yet and don’t plan on for awhile longer….
