Jerry Goldsmith's rendition of the Star Trek theme is the most heroic and courageous music ever composed. No other Star Trek theme comes close to what Jerry composed.
I don't know about you, but i just wish that Michael Giacchino would just bring in the theme at 1:00 into the reboot films. Oh well, maybe he will if J.J. Abrams decides to reboot the Next Generation.
@@ThePoreproductions 5 years on I'm late but funny thing is Michael Giacchino did plan on using this theme in the 2009 reboot but he just could never get it to work in his own style so he opted to write his own theme and ditch the Jerry
This score represents childhood, memories and dreams for me. I can't hear it without it bringing a smile to my face. (same goes for just about every ST score ^_^)
This film often gets a serious slating from many people, and it doesn’t deserve it. Ok, so the effects weren’t great and some of the storyline is questionable. But as a character driven piece it’s pure TOS. There are some classic moments between Kirk, McCoy and Spock. Some great Klingon action. And the score simply cannot EVER be faulted. This film ain’t actually that bad.
Go listen to the TNG theme from the end credits of Picard Episode 10. Does that beat this? They come close. I’m trying to decide because I consider this Goldsmith’s best version of the theme.
I love this powerfull piece of music. You can hear how many voices are telling the phantastic stories of the starship "Enterprise" and it's crew. (I counted 430 ;) ) Best of the film-version is also the "scream of the Klingon Bird or Prey" (I call it so)
It's funny, because my earliest recollection of this recording has the bells playing the main melody MUCH louder in the mix. When I finally got the VHS in 1995, I was surprised how quiet they were. They're sort of a bit louder in the First Contact version of the theme, but in my head I can hear them much louder!
I've noticed that Cliff Eidelman grabbed some variations of this score and used them in his score for Star Trek VI. If you listen closely to the music other than Jerry's main them you can hear it.
The film was a disappointment overall, but the ending score shows that they were just as close friends as ever. Sometimes a great story shows that they are human (and Vulcan) and mistakes were made, but I guess that just adds to the appeal.
Those campfire scenes are the best parts of this movie, and even some of the best in the franchise I'd argue. It not only shows the true brotherhood of Kirk, Spock and McCoy but of man.
This was by far the best version of the credits theme. RIP Kelly and Nimoy. You are both missed!
zodden01 the best version of the end credits theme ever
Agreed! I especially enjoy the full version of the Klingon theme here, with the Bird of Prey calls included.
Amen brother

Of all the Star Trek Soundtracks. This one is best in my opinion. This theme makes you feel you're journeying where no man has gone before.

'Tis devoutly to be wished...
No recording of this theme is as rousing as this one

This will always be the theme of ST to me. Glad TNG carried this on.

This piece gives hope.

It's better than Insurrection.
In the next few weeks I am going on a Star Trek Binge and I love this movie, it feels like an episode of the Original Series.
What does god need with a starship?
@@_Boobear_ What do we need with a Picard TV show? You don't have to be a god to make no sense.
It's neat when the camera pulls back and you finally see the trees that weren't finished in time to see our comrades the first time.
(At 2:39 to 3:57) I really like the pure awesomeness of the Klingon theme.
Best End Credits of all
Composed and Conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (1929-2004)
Fanfare from "Star Trek: TOS" Composed by Alexander Courage (1919-2008)
This is the best "End Credits" of all. Can't beat this with a stick.
I remember recording in casette this version long years ago! I love!
Sweet rendition of the Klingon theme @ 2:39.
I love how well this was weaved into TNG… and even Picard! 🖖🏽
The friendship moments is what saves this film
A theme where you can hear the warp drive.. Perfect
Nothing beats The Motion Picture/The Next Generation theme
It’s the same composer
The best version of the theme. It has so much more... punch. You feel it
@S. T. yea. I love it

Put on your ear plugs and let it fill you up! It's exhilarating! The BEST ending ever !

The only saving grace for this movie is the soundtrack.
3:58 onwards = heaven
the final frontier is one of my all time favorite films (and i was born in a year after it came out)
I was born just before it came out myself

Yes I’ve noticed that too 👏🏽
life is not a dream captain o.O
Man, go to sleep. :) :) :)
The best of star trek movies it was like a star trek from a star trek fan

Used in this First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis
3:57 Time to march!!!
Wasn’t there a law passed to stop Shatner from singing?
2:10-2:45 Sounds like Spock's second and permanent death.
Sanya Hikari oh you mean from Beyond when the cast photo is revealed...hmmm maybe those elements are pressent
Urgo has got them too lol Stargate jk
