It didn't have all the terrible lens flares that the new ones have.... It wasn't totally earth shattering for a Star Trek installment, but at least it had a plot that you could follow, and didn't take itself too seriously!

Unfortunately the bulk humanity simply missed the point in reality. The theme was making a direct reference to their ancient superstition mentally and emotionally implanted long ago.. "religion."

Good thing that Captain Kirk asked questions that this entity didn't want to answer. I'd hate to think what would've happened if he'd merged with the Enterprise. I doubt a Photon Torpedo and a couple of Disruptor bolts would've solved the resulting disaster.
Surely though he would have only been as strong as the Enterprise is capable of being? Which, let us remind ourselves, had already been antiquated by the Excelsior-class by this point.
But if all he needed to do was get close enough to a starship to merge with it, what would happen if an Excelsior class, or *shudders* refitted Federation, Mars, or one of the many Klingon Battleships or Dreadnaughts, such as the B10 came close enough to be possessed? See where I'm going with this? And we don't even know, but he might have been powerful enough to possess more than one starship at a time!

After watching this, it's not actually not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, ok, yes the story is weird, it's stupid, and the uhura dance was just wrong, but, I would rather watch this than Insurrection, that one was just lame and forgettable
