This is really his ultimate version, since it's the first time Jerry Goldsmith melded Alexander Courage's classic fanfare with Jerry's TMP theme. It had been done by others for TNG, but this was the first time the master arranged it.
This soundtrack helped me get through electrical engineering. I used to play it all the time in the background when I was studying and working on assignments. It was the perfect blend of positive energy and somber melodies. Thank you Jerry Goldsmith!
Spectacular music! Goldsmith is easily the finest composer of cinematic Trek. He brought the majesty to the franchise, and never failed to deliver a wonderful score. This track alone is superb.
As John Williams has pointed out, Goldsmith had a knack for the timbre and texture of music. He was a chameleon, you can never really tell it's a Goldsmith score unless you've heard it before, or of you listened to him as much as I have.
Space the final frontier these are the continuing voyages of Starship Enterprise their ongoing mission is to explore strange new world 🌍 to seek out new life forms and new civilisations to boldly go where no one ☝️ has gone before.
@TheArguseyes I didnt but I do know and I really like it. It has so much deep roots in it, plus I find it kind of hard to sing it with another person. The simple work of waiting for the other person and keep your own rythm teaches you a lot of things. It is amazing!! I have found so many things with this movie and song together... withouth reading the complete books of Schopenhauer or Gurdjieff. This song is amazing!!! :D pure phylosophy If I made myself clear, you know...
The main overture from this movie, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek: First Contact is the most iconic music ever, even more so than from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Jurassic Park.
You're dreaming. The number of people who will recognise the Star Wars theme dwarfs those who would ever know that this one exists. That's what iconic means.
I did like the movie but I have a Q. ¿Whats the song they sing about life being a dream? I guess that is a classic american song but i'm not american! Can anyone tell me the name of that song please? The one they sing in the woods before the adventure and after, at the end. Thanks!!!
could I use this in my You Tube videos as a background.

No, probably not. Star Trek is still an active franchise, so the copyright was probably extended until now, even though it's from 1989. Usually when you find 28 years old music, it's likely that you can use it, but probably not in this case.

…and also it depends on the country. In the UK you usually have to wait 100 years or so.
Yeah, anyone can easily skip over The Motion Picture if they've already seen the original series episode "the changeling" same plot if you think about it :)
I personally favour this rendition of the Jerry Goldsmith Star Trek theme over all of the other versions.
This and TMP's theme are great.
quatz1981 fascinating 🖖🌌
Same here
quatz1981 this is the cleanest

I'd put this, Star Wars, LOTR, and Pirates of the Caribbean on equal footing.
You're dreaming. The number of people who will recognise the Star Wars theme dwarfs those who would ever know that this one exists. That's what iconic means.
Man, Star Wars opening theme is the most brilian theme song of all time
I love this theme, but you're high.
Have there ever been any lyrics?

What is The Music at The end?
@thx291 Why u don't like this movie? D:
I wish they did a Voyager movie to find out of what the crew got up to after the ship returned to Earth after being lost for 7 years
Good idea!
The only 2 movies I didn't like were the first and Nemesis.

+The Rabbid yeah
Not a proper trekkie then
That Is Star Trek The Final Frontier Life Is A Dream Theme. That Is Sound Of The My Star Trek The Next Generation Theme.
Shawn Capps Why Do You Write Like This? It makes it hard to read.
i think there is something wrong with your combadge, whenever i click it it is taking me to a link. Go and give it to Mr Laforge and he will fix it.
Horrible movie, awesome soundtrack.
Your opinion keep it to yourself
Keith Robertson been largely silent about it for five years, friend.
