Hi. This is definitely in my Top 10 list of MOST AMAZING things I've seen in craft videos!! Those big envelopes are stunning and I immediately thought that I have to find out how you made them so I could make my own. I am planning to make a JJ as a gift to an old friend and even though I have hardly started and have only 5 weeks to complete it, I am putting everything on hold until I've made some of these papers to use in her journal. I don't use any scrapbooking paper and very few digital designs in my journals. I make all the covers, ephemera, pockets, envelopes... everything possible, from paper I've hand made, painted, stained, dyed, collaged, block printed, sewn etc. I like my journals to portray every bit of my own creativity and not just be an assembly of other people's talents. Obviously I do use copier paper, cardstock, fabric etc, but never in its original state. You have greatly inspired me with all your fresh ideas and I am truly grateful. TFS ❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind comment and for sharing your jj journey with me. We have very similar mindset when it comes to what we put inside our jj. I sometimes feel the need to alter my own digitals because the paper they are printed on seems so new and uninteresting. The journal you’re making for your friend is going to be truly one of kind. 😊❤️
I bet your JJ’s are beautiful! I too am not a big fan of using anything I haven’t made myself or altered in some way. And I have to say, that really wasn’t by choice in the beginning for me. It was out of necessity as getting started in JJ was rather expensive for me being on a fixed income. But now that I make all the fixin’s and such, (so to speak), I find I like it better or as much as already made items. Enjoyed your comment. Happy crafting friend! ❤️💜💚
I am quite the opposite I suppose bc I think that other peoples talents are unique and different than what I could have ever made. I love digitals & I also love creators that put their ideas and creations online with a tutorial just like this lovely artist has done. Would you not consider using this idea as another’s talent?
Hi! Thank you so much for subscribing, watching and for your lovely comment. Natasha and I share similar backgrounds, like place of birth, language, culture, and we both moved to Australia in similar circumstances. We are friends. Since I moved back to Sarajevo 13 years ago we haven’t seen each other in person, but we stay in touch. She is such an inspiration to me, not just because I know her personally but because she is so very talented and innovative. 😊❤️
@Saacibo that's great! You and Natasia are great inspirations to my junk journaling. ❤🎉 you both have a great way of helping me get through tough spots in my life. Junk journaling helps keep me in focus on mental clarity. Thanks 😊 ❤🎉
This has to be one of THE coolest new ideas I've seen. I LOVE it. Can you actually write on it? just brilliant. And this is why I throw NOTHING away. I'm a new subscriber. You are an excellent teacher and I love your ideas.
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and leaving me a nice comment. I appreciate it very much. I tried writing on it with a lead pencil and using inks with stamps and stencils. There was no bleeding. Not sure about alcohol inks or markers. Have to test more. 😊❤️
You've surpassed yourself with this! I love that nothing is wasted, no expensive equipment, no shiny side and the envelopes look fantastic. Can't wait to see what can be made with these.
@@marymiller5315I used Google Lens after taking screenshot of the box. I found it and in the sellers listing other views of the box showing ingredients. Screenshot again and translate. And yes, it's cornstarch 🙂Happy crafting!
@@marymiller5315 I used corn starch. You can use any starch, such as wheat and potato, or you can use ironing spray starch mixed with a little bit of strong coffee. 😊
This is awesome! I might have to experiment with this with putting dried leaves or skeleton leaves in the layer underneath the very top one, and see how that turns out.
I love your channel, it was already perfect but you keep surprising with even better and better content -- unique, clever, useful, enjoyable. This is just amazing - truly accessible to all and no waste process. Cannot wait to see what else you are doing with the napkins and what can be done with these no-glue-napkin-papers. 5:30 About baking paper. Another name for it is parchment paper (brown - unbleached and white - bleached). The freezer and wax papers cannot be called baking paper because those are for lining for freezing (and other creative applications of course). Their shiny side melts with hit so absolutely not suitable for baking. Thanks for the tip to iron the paper from both sides of the ‘sandwich’ and to keep stained baking papers for crafts as well.
I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Oh, I couldn’t think of the name for baking paper and I had it written down somewhere on a piece of paper that I lost in my box of scraps 😄. Thanks so much for the information about these different papers, it very useful to know. I always appreciate your nice comments ❤️😊
@@lindatabor4841 I buy starch from the supermarket, can be corn, wheat, potato or rice. It’s used to thicken the sauces. There’s also laundry starch used for ironing. You can use any of those. Ironing starch is already premade so no cooking is required. If you like to change its color, just add some ink. It’s usually just white or clear.
You are so clever. These papers are gorgeous. I could see the paper with gauze making a great journal cover. Stay well. I guess the silver cloud of being unwell was an upsurge of creativity. I have been very ill this last week and have been in a fever fog but I encouraged myself to make one piece of scrap ephemera a day and noticed I felt so much better when creating. That's amazing. It looks and sounds so good!!! As a child the only glue we had was mum's homemade flour paste. I never thought about making a thinner more runny version like you made....and colouring it! I learn new things on here everyday!! Thank you!!!❤❤❤
You’re so welcome! I remember my grandmother used to cook thin version of this with white wheat flour. She would then place her crochet doilies in, squeeze to drain well, and then stretch on with pins to dry. It made them so crisp and firm. 😊❤️
They are beautiful. So many possibilities are running thru my head. I am thinking about making up a bunch of these papers. Some with patterns and some plain. I want to try using rust water on the papers along with some of the techniques/ideas you showed in your 3 part series about rust water. I think combining these homemade napkin papers with the rust water and techniques from those videos the papers will turn out amazing. Thanks for sharing your creative spirit with us. You are so inspiring.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and got inspired to experiment and try combining some of the techniques together. Have fun! ❤️😊
I love that you are willing to try new things. I am definitely watching all your videos as soon as I can. Wonderful explaination on how to do it. Thank you so much inspiration.
Wow, this is the best thing I've seen in a long time! It's so wonderful! Absolutely stunning and I can make such beautiful things with it. The baking paper itself looks so amazing too! Thank you for this great tip ❤❤❤
Inspirational is an understatement!! I have all these ingredients; I will be doing this very soon. Thank you, thank, thank you!! (I believe the paper you were using is called parchment paper; the same on both sides, very glassine-like, and used in baking to keep food from sticking to the pan.) Awesome tutorial, can't wait to see more! 🤩🤩🤩
I enjoyed this tutorial so much and can't wait to try! I love your diy craft iron board too, will definitely be making my own instead of buying one. Thank you!
This is fantastic!!! I saw someone use crayon shavings and tiny leaf stamps to make a faux homemade paper look that would be amazing on these white papers!!!
Good point about using the baking sheet to keep the starch off the iron! I was thinking about doing this on my stove because I didn't want the smaller pages I would get using my Big Shot and my thought was to use muslin - which you rightly pointed out would just soak through and goo up my iron plate. I know I can just iron over a damp rag and salt to clean it up, but you saved me from that. :D (ETA: I have a ceramic-top stove. Nice flat surface to work on and easy clean-up!)
Oh my, they turned out great!! 💜💜💜 I pulled everything out but was rethinking how to do it, without the Sizzix, as I wanted larger papers. Was planning to put my napkins between 2 pieces of heavy plastic and use a heavy rolling pin over it to get some of the liquid out. I was ready to go, but with this virus that I was lucky enough to catch 2 months ago, I have spurts of energy and then spurts of napping, lol. Was busy today getting some running done, so maybe tomorrow I can give it a try. Also ,absolutely love the envelopes, they're gorgeous!! 💜💜💜
I just found your page last night and am absolutely amazed with your creativity! I also appreciate your speaking voice…not to fast and pleasant. You explain everything very well. Thank you for sharing your talents!

You’re so welcome! I remember my grandmother used to cook thin version of this with white wheat flour. She would then place her crochet doilies in, squeeze to drain well, and then stretch on with pins to dry. It made them so crisp and firm. 😊❤️
@@Saacibo Yes, mum used ordinary white flour! Happy memories!!! Thank you for taking me back 60+ yrs!!!🥰🥰🥰
so fantastic idea
Thank you!
Have fun! ❤️😊

Nema na cemu! Drago mi je da ti se svidja ❤️
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching and for your nice comment. 😊❤️

I would love to see how watercolor reacts on this “sized” paper!❤
I haven’t tried, but I have a feeling it would soak up a lot of moisture.

This is fantastic!!! I saw someone use crayon shavings and tiny leaf stamps to make a faux homemade paper look that would be amazing on these white papers!!!
That sounds very interesting! Thanks for sharing with me 😊❤️
This is amazing! Thank you!
You're so welcome! 😊❤️
I love the papers, but I think I love the faux glassine envelopes you made with the used baking paper even more!!! TFS 😺
Thank you so much! After I made the papers I couldn’t stop playing with the baking paper 😆. I just love its quality and the sound it makes.
Great idea! I have ceramic-top stove and it never occurred to me to use it that way! Thanks for sharing this with me 😊❤️
Oh my, they turned out great!! 💜💜💜
I pulled everything out but was rethinking how to do it, without the Sizzix, as I wanted larger papers.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the video. Get well soon 😊❤️
