An awful lot of what you show (in general, not only today), Dragana, is mind blowing. Laminating with packaging, without any need for buying laminating pouches… Stamping on leaves before sealing them…. Cutting large windows in already bound journal and inserting a specimen there… How wonderful. I wish I had more free time to experiment. Watching this video I started to wonder if nice dry plant material could be made somewhat translucent with some wax or baby oil and then laminated traditional way or the way you just show… Oh that would be mind-blowing squared. ♥♥♥
I am beyond elated to have found your channel! The amount of short cuts etc are a delight and I totally resonate with your cadence and ease of every move you make and your smooth techniques. I appreciate you and thank you!
OMG, I was finally getting ready to use my saved cellophane packaging in the specimen tag windows I just cut out! Well, gotta' stop now and watch your video for some tips. Thank you for preventing more plastic from being made into laminating sheets and instead recycling the cellophane packaging. I'm going to try white glue to see if it works just as well as the clear glue. Oh, I tried the glue/napkins for specimens a few days ago and it works great. Also discovered that used tea bags work for stamped images (with permanent ink) - and there's no need to use two sheets of the tea bag because the stamped image readily shows on the back. Grungy, yes, but that was exactly what I wanted for Halloween 'specimens'.
Hi to you! I enjoy upcycling as much as any fellow crafter. Thing is, the next time you use cellophane in the laminator, move it to a well-ventilated area. The fumes could be toxic and harmful, even if they're odorless. Just double-check the operator's manual for any substitutes for the laminating sheets. Then go forth, with your upcycled crafting!
I’m excited to try this. I save the cellophane packaging too!! Was getting ready to try to meld it together with my iron but the laminator!! Yes! Thank you!
I have saved my packaging, also. But I only used them for storage. It is great to have a new purpose for them. I also save the cardboard that ephemera comes with. Now I can use the whole thing. 😁 Thank you for the inspiration.
I'm glad I found you. Enjoyed your video and also your idea to use the cellophane bags to make pockets. Every time I ordered art stuff I automatically kept the bags but I never knew what to do with them. but now I cannot wait to fetch them out and use them up. Thanks very much.
Dragena, thank you for sharing the process using the recycled cellophane bags. Your examples are so neat, tidy, and adorable. Creating one with a see through window is perfect for all kinds of things to put inside. Bravo to another thoughtful video. You always do such a fine job.
Dragana, I cannot wait to try this!!!! I am going to do this and the specimen project you posted. You are so creative & your projects are unique. You experiment with so many things. It reminds me of science class but FUN because it’s art. Thank you!!!! I learn something every time! 😄
I absolutely love this, thank you for sharing! I save all MI my cellophane bags too and have been using them to make little shaker ATC's but like you I found that was not using them very quickly. This is going to really put them to use! ❤
This is absolutely BEST idea I have learned this year! I am going to be using your ideas all the time. I can't believe I never thought about trying laminating with the cellophane bags that I never throw away! Thank you, thank you.
I, too, have struggled with the ongoing problem of too much cellophane packaging… storing it up without really knowing what I can do with it but feeling guilty about putting it into landfill… your video today has opened the door to a whole new solution and I can’t wait to start using up my hoard trying this out. THANK YOU
Very awesome Dragana, love them, and the projects you made with them. 💜💜💜 I have a bunch saved, now to find some time to use them. I guess the snow will be falling in a couple months, so will have plenty of projects lined up, lol. ❄🥴❄
You fascinate me 🤷🏼♀️ at anytime 👏🏻🧡 I love that you always try to avoid throwing away "things". And even try to create something with! The results are great 🧡 🧡 🧡 Experimenting Lady 😊
Aww, thank you so much dear Steffi! It must be my hoarding trait at play here 😂. I collect and then I feel guilty so I look for ways to use and make interesting 😆
I absolutely loved every minute of this video! You always have the best ideas and i love that you find several ways to achieve the same look. Thank you for helping us to save money and find ways to recycle. I never throw anything away as i know I'll be able to use it. You help me figure out what I'll be using it for. 😊🤩
I am so excited about this process. I will try it first with the recycled bags and glue as that is what I have on hand. You just come up with the best ideas. Thanks so much, Dragana.
Another fantastic idea! I love your crafting ethic, I can't wait to try this myself as I have a lot of those bags that I have saved as I knew they would be good for something!
Hi Dragana, this is an awesome tutorial! However, I am wondering about your dyed papers. Did you create them yourself? If so, do you have a video on how to achieve the various effects? If not, can you please tell us where you purchase them? The colours and patterns on the paper really hi-lighted your amazing ephemera. 😊
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. I dyed all the papers by myself. I’ve shared several paper dyeing techniques in the second part of this video: ruclips.net/video/CS_r9rfo4es/видео.html Enjoy!
This is a game changer!! I have been saving cellophane and wondering what to make with it. I also have a ton of dried leaves. Some my parents collected years and years ago. Now i can preserve the leaves and remember them. Thanks! I can't find your paperclip tutorial. What is it called?
Thank you for watching. So glad you enjoyed the video! What a nice idea to preserve the leaves your parents collected. Here’s the link to the tutorial with paper clips Making Charms for Junk Journals from Recycled Plastic Loyalty Cards + Freebie ruclips.net/video/d1ynnG0t16M/видео.html
That was actually a reusable makeup remover pad. I made a lot of them a while ago and I discovered that they are great for crafting purposes. I don’t wear much makeup anyway 😆
I have a laminator but wonder what products might be packaged in cellophane to help reuse vs recycle. I can't think of any reason an iron or craft iron wouldn't achieve the same results as a laminator & seems less messy than using a sticky medium. Am I missing something?
I forgot to mention this in a video, but I’ve tried with an iron, and after several attempts using different heat settings, I gave up. Cellophane kept shrinking and melting.

Great! I hope it works out well! I also love working with tea bags. They are so nice and grungy 😊❤️
@@Saacibo It worked great! I put regular school glue on the insert and it showed up through the tea bag so well.

I have done this with pressed flowers and laminating sheets It worked great but they were really thick!
This reminds me of when I was a child, we ironed leaves in between wav paper

If the flower is fragile, perhaps you could apply the varnish/glue to the other sheet, rather than the flower
What typeof tool were you using at 8:08? The square object that you use kind like a bone folder?
That was actually a reusable makeup remover pad. I made a lot of them a while ago and I discovered that they are great for crafting purposes. I don’t wear much makeup anyway 😆
Maybe using your jell plate might hold the paper better

Could you use baggies? Like a sandwich bag?
I haven’t tried but it’s worth experimenting! 😊

Sure! It has a logo on it “CB” model LM910. I bought it over 20 years ago in Office Works in Australia. I think it’s time to upgrade it soon 😊
