I saw the notification and was like THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR
I really needed this for the LONGEST time!! Thank you!
It looks like Mii maker on paper!! Reminds me of Miitopia.
YES! I love those character creators so much!
Ah! I see where your style comes from now! I have need to look into getting that ed emberly book. I think it would be great to help my animation students.
Hi from germany,
I found your channel yesterday and combine this potrait tutorial and your monster manual redraw "challenge". I draw a potrait a day and hope to get better.
I have zero experience in drawing but love your "simple style" drawings and hope this is a goal i can reach.
Thanks a lot for all of your videos!
Keep it up! You’ll be amazed at how much you improve if you’re doing a portrait a day!
You made my first time being a DM easier by making NPCs with these videos thank you
Wow! For about a year I have been drawing bodies but not faces. Thanks you so much!!!❤
I have created many headless characters. This video will help me
Nice drawing JP! Can’t wait to design my characters!
Same dude!
Ok I haven't thought about those books in years! They definitely got me interested in drawing back in the day! Thanks for the reminder.
This would be a great idea for players if they wanted sidekicks or hirelings. Write some stats on the back and hand them to your players, as you would do for new magic items.
Love that idea!
duuuuuude i had that BOOK!!!! i loved it and loved making stick figures!
Neat! But yeah, when I start a new series of paintings I set up a 'style bible' that contains all the things that should show up in each painting/sculpture including palettes for settings, characters and subjects.
Hey! Do you have one for magic items? Or maybe monsters? It'd be fun to see how to break down those into elements.
These were so great JP! Love your style, great inspiration 🥳
Okay that's awesome. All your videos are so inspiring and I can't wait to try this out this week.
That is so cool! My new D&D character journals have a spot for character portraits. This is just the video I was looking for. Wonderful job! 😊
ooooh, yeah! Thank you JP, you are such an inspiration
thx so much....... this really help me draw my half elf for my d&d game
So cool! Cant wait to try some
Love these drawings. Simple and easy is so much fun to draw and watch. Thank you!
Watching it over and over again... such a great video!
Oh my, thank you JP you are a saint!
Loving your content, dude! Thanks!
This is the best, JP! Thanks!
YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!! AND YOU DID THE IDEA!! YESSSSS✊✊✊
so happy to run into your channel I love to draw and my friend who is the DM of our group got me into DND, so this will be nice to draw characters for her
Oh god this is so cool, your drawns are awesome
Thank you for your time. I am learning a lot thanks to you.
You just post the best videos, i love your channel so much. I also love that you arent annoyingly loud in your videos like a lot of people are lol
I do complex stuff on paper but I enjoyed warching :DD I belive that style matters on how you can see things and that simplicity gave those characters some life
So it is basically playing Mii-Maker in real life?
Thanks for the great tutorial, very beginner friendly ^^
Again, ed emberley is the man. I totally have that book for the kids. I am going to print your sheet for them to make characters!! Thanks so much JP. Love this idea!
I love th his idea.I have the Emberly books .They are fantastic
i love your art style :D!!
JP just got your starter minis and its awesome!!! please do more sets like that, I'll buy all!!
Thank you!!!
This is great. If I get anything that looks like anything I'll post it!
Cool video! You helped me a lot!
This is excellent.
This was super inspiring, I started making a portrait for my new campaign character, and then I heard your comments about magic cards, so of course I had to work in stats and actions, and hours later now I'm making what is essentially a quick reference card for my character sheet! Thank you!
That sounds awesome! I've got a video about magic items coming soon too!
Wow, thanks for the reply! I look forward to the item card video!
I’ve been loving the D&D series, listening to it on repeat while working on campaign prep, and the art is awesome! Totally getting that Dragon Quest energy😁
If you drawing on the portrait box, try it on another paper and just glue it on when you're done too! So you can try as much as you want without worrying about your sheet
Yeah, drew mine on cheaper bleed-proof paper made for markers
this is like a nintendo MII but for DnD
This helps alot too, i give it a shot. like you said, i can do this lol.
Okay i was really hyped about this, but after 2 hours of drawing i think i need some practice over here haha,
Great video
Omg, you're a genius
I~~~ LOVE~~~ IT~~~
Yesss finally I can draw my character!
Lol!!!! He said play with yourself!!!! But seriously, thanks, man your vids have saved my game.
Hey JP, would u consider customizing like a pair of shoes or something like that?
I have thought about it before, yeah! Not sure what I would do off the top of my head, but it would be fun!
way cool
Hey thank you for inspiring me to draw. You're style is really fun to draw. But can you teach also how to draw the whole body characters
Future video for sure!
@@JPCoovert Just out of curiosity, was that video ever made? 8)
@@HighbridgeD not yet :P
@@JPCoovert Well, maybe after the Kickstarter then! Nice to see its been fully funded and then some 8) Congrats, sir!
The first guy looks unhinged, lol
👏👏👏👏
Question for you, JP. I'm struggling with drawing women with short, coily hair in this style. Could you suggest some tips to help with this?
Curly hair is tricky! Think about hair the same way you do with the rest of the drawing, slowly building up the shapes. So start with the outer shape of the hair, very simple. Then abstract the curls with some squiggles. Try a few different kinds. Sorry if this isn't super helpful, just don't give up!
@@JPCoovert No, that does help actually. When I studied the hairstyles you provided in your style guide, I noticed that it was all about the outline or profile of the hair. That made me think about the video you did drawing from a silhouette. But yes, coily or curly hair is quite the challenge, as it didn't seem to work in that same style. I'll keep at it, my character deserves that much!
First! Love your vids
J!!!P!!!!!
круто
Name that party
Got any suggestions?
@@JPCoovert nice turn around there buddy. No! (HaHa) name it
hm, might send this to some of my non-artist friends
