I been having trouble with my grip while night diving holding a light on one hand and pole spear in the other hand... will try this for sure... great tutorial...
The only grip that I have had loosen up was on my lobster snare because the heatshrink was too big for the shaft. My polespears that have the heatshrink installed have not moved an inch. As long as you get the correct diameter heatshrink it will not move. If you already have the heatshrink and it's a little big, get thicker rope and it will be secure.
@@divesoflo thank you soo much for this, I've just started to get into spearfishing/pole spear... anywya, this video was the answer I've been searching for, thank you soo much! You have my like and sub!
The heat shrink I got from Amazon was black. The tan one in the video was from neritic. I bought a neritic grip kit when I got the pole spear. In terms of quality and price, the Amazon version was the better choice.
The grip kit was an actual Neritic branded kit. The heat shrink you can buy from Amazon and just get some simple dyneema or thin polypropylene rope. You can try a hairdryer but you would do this at your own risk. You would have to hold the hairdryer very close to activate the heat shrink, the problem with holding it that close is there is a risk or burning the heat shrink.
If the hair dryer could get hot enough to activate the heat shrink, but if you leave the hair dryer to long in one spot you risk burning the heat shrink. The heat gun gets extremely hot and you can hold it far enough away from the heat shrink so you don't burn it. If you do not want to purchase the heat gun, try the blow dryer on a small area so you don't ruin your project. Be careful and try this at your own risk.

Thank you. Just make sure the diameter of the heat shine is not too big for the pole spear.
Great tutorial. Easy to follow. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice work !
Thank you
this was helpfull to me thank you
You can get heat shrink with glue on the inside, I use it on the ends of my float ropes, good stuff
I haven't seen the glue version before, that would be much easier to keep it place as it shrinks. Thanks for the comment.
@@divesoflo no worries, it's used to waterproof cable connections
Have you ever had any problems with the grip slipping once wet? Or does it stay in place?

Will a standard hair dryer work instead?

@@divesoflo cool thanks for replying
Did you use the 30mm for your Neritic?
The heat shrink was part of a grip kit. I can look back through my order history and check.
Nicee...
