I finally got a call through to GE and you have to hold the Ice Maker and Door Alarm buttons simultaneously for about 3-5 seconds to bring up the prompt to change it. I was told it's on page 11 of the owners manual. It worked for my fridge.

Tangier 14 is exactly right. It should have been included in the printed manual as well, but it's a little late for that now. It made me nervous when I touched a number on the touch screen control panel and accidentally made an unintentional change. The use of the display panel is not entirely user friendly and intuitive and there are NO instructions in the manual at all. It took a while to finally find this video so I could reset the temperature.

That said, I would not recommend the Model # GWE19JSLGFSS refrigerator to anyone. The capacity for both fridge and freezer is way too small. There is so little room for food storage that you definitely have to go shopping more frequently and buy less food when you go.

The ranges for the fresh food section on most models is 34°F to 42°F; the range for the freezer section is -6°F to 5°F. The recommended refrigerator temperature settings are 37 degrees Fahrenheit in the fresh food and 0 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer section.
I have a brand new Cafe series, delivered today. I had a different one delivered 2 days ago but the freezer never cooled below 67 degrees F. So we had to return the first one and are trying again. It has been nearly 3 hours and the fridge is cooling, but the freezer is still not dropping very fast.I don't know if I accidentally hit a reset button. Manual is unclear, and the video is for model with outside dispenser and we do not have that. It's Saturday, and customer support is closed. If anyone can help, please respond.Question is, can we see what actual temperature is? It is not displaying.

Also... the manual says that the freezer cools first. The GE technician I reached on Thursday said the refrigerator cools first. She was right. We're happy to hear your unit is cooling. This model is equipped with Twin Chill Evaporators. Dual evaporators maintain separate environments in both the fresh food and freezer compartments to manage temperature and humidity levels and keep foods fresh. Cold, dry air stays in the freezer compartment to prevent freezer burn, and more humid air stays in the fresh food section to keep fresh food fresh longer.
Unfortunately the user manual does not give this information. I spent an hour on the phone with GE customer service, who could not tell me the information, but set me to youtube.

The instructions are for several models and the word (Ice Top) isn't anywhere. And the exact control panel isn't either. Work on that will you?

We got it….. the manual doesn’t tell owners to continue cycling the temp up to the highest limit and it will automatically cycle to the low end in order to set refrigerator temps “lower”.

Every comment on here says the same thing. Your owners manuals are not worth shit! It doesn’t even tell you anywhere about how to use the control panel. Only to use the control panel to set the freezer temperature. BUT HOW? Every time I touched the freezer button it got a degree warmer but that was my problem, my ice cream was melting and I needed it colder! GE, WRITE A DECENT MANUAL!
PWE23KYNHFS. If the temperature shows set at 37 and 0, do you have to do something else to insure it is selected and actually at that temperature? Should the word set be lit if operating at hat temperature? Is there an actual reading display too? It looks like an unlit word actual.

For some reason every button on my GFE24J model works on the control panel except for the "Fridge" button. Any body know why that could be? tC is off, and it seems like that button is completely unresponsive. @GEAppliances

Terrible way to control a refrierator. Not happy. Try this a few times before you buy this. So confusing.
The manual provided by GE is simply is piece of ! it is more an installation manual not an operation manual. I called the GE Canadian Phone number ( it is was not Canadian it was Mexico, the employee never suggested to use YOU TUBE, she email me a copy of the manual I already have

We got it….. the manual doesn’t tell owners to continue cycling the temp up to the highest limit and it will automatically cycle to the low end in order to set refrigerator temps “lower”.

The SIDE BY SIDE GE is a waste. Food spoils in the refrigerator . Milk, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt everything spoils. This a lemon.

Every comment on here says the same thing. Your owners manuals are not worth shit! It doesn’t even tell you anywhere about how to use the control panel. Only to use the control panel to set the freezer temperature. BUT HOW? Every time I touched the freezer button it got a degree warmer but that was my problem, my ice cream was melting and I needed it colder! GE, WRITE A DECENT MANUAL!

That is the dumbest design setup for temp adjustment and you can’t be bothered to print that in the manual?
PWE23KYNHFS. If the temperature shows set at 37 and 0, do you have to do something else to insure it is selected and actually at that temperature? Should the word set be lit if operating at hat temperature? Is there an actual reading display too? It looks like an unlit word actual.

For some reason every button on my GFE24J model works on the control panel except for the "Fridge" button. Any body know why that could be? tC is off, and it seems like that button is completely unresponsive. @GEAppliances

After changing my water filter and draining out two gallons of water the "replace water filter" message and the number of days still lights up. How do I turn that off please.
