you may not have recognized the actor playing William Bell. It's Leonard Nimoy who played Spok in the original Star Trek

The reveal of Leonard Nimoy as William Bell was quite the exciting surprise for viewers. Nimoy's voice was actually used briefly, at the end of an earlier episode when the videotape of young Olivia is shown, and Nimoy's voice is so distinctive that many recognized the actor just from that short scene.
Creator of Fringe J. J. Abrams also created the Star Trek (2009) movie, where Nimoy reprised the role of (elder) Spock. The Fringe production team negotiated with Nimoy for some time to see if the actor would be available for Fringe, discussing the role, and especially tuning the role so the commitment would fit with what Nimoy was able to meet.

Even funnier with Ron Howard’s brother Clint Howard(who was a regular recurring guest actor on Star Trek) in the episode claiming to himself be the son of Sarek/Spock.

Yeah, those are the World Trade Center towers that were destroyed kn 2001.
When this episode aired the memories were much more fresh, so it was very dramatic.

Fun fact: The “crazy” guy who thinks he’s Spock is played by Clint Howard (the older brother of actor/director Ron Howard), as a kid he played an alien on the original series of Star Trek back in the 1960s.

This episode aired May 5th 2009
And if you pay attention to what he says, he tells the plot of the 2009 Trek movie (which was released May 8th 2009 in the US)
I mean: Renegade Romulans from the future. Here to change the timeline... that is the plot of the movie.

@@ChibiHoshiDragonHe also basically spoils the overall story of the SHOW, as well as the upcoming appearance of Nimoy... All in one scene! It's so brilliant.

No worries, happy to see it no matter when I drips… I forgot to warn you that the copyright gremlins seem to really hit hard on the season one finale and the season 2 premiere episode. I’m glad you managed to get a version up they approved of however.

There is an actual area of study called Archaeoacoustics which deals with ancient people and their relationship with sound throughout history. It’s been overly exaggerated by science fiction, but it we’ve been able to scan ancient pottery and pick up some noise that may have been “recorded” while the pottery was being made. Claims of picking up voices and other distinct sounds is way off base, but the concept of reconstructing audio as seen in this episode is based on real science, it is again however overly fictionalised. Though I wouldn’t doubt that there exists spy tech that is being developed or has been developed that agencies could use to pick up audio in a room as it happens by pointing the said tech at surfaces like glass, or something similar.

So glad you are enjoying Fringe as much as I did. So many people said it was copying X Files, but it always had its own goals, and it delivered!

    • @dondumitru7093
      @dondumitru7093 7 месяцев назад +1

Fringe certainly took inspiration from X-Files, and we will very soon see Fringe give direct nods to X-Files.
I would say that X-Files had a much higher percentage of shows that were just weird one-off unexplained things, while Fringe over time develops into having more cohesive plot arcs and having the 'things' have explanations that more often tie back into the plot arcs. Fringe also builds better long-term relationships between characters than X-Files did.

A small detail: remember in episode 17, the guy with mind control powers in the episode mentioned wearing black and grey clothes like he was instructed? In episode 19, we see that all of the clothes in Susan Pratt's wardrobe were black and grey

In "Safe", Peter and Walter said:
PETER: Seriously, Walter, what's the rice for? And while I'm at it, what's with all the toys?
WALTER: Oh, these were in my storage. They're your toys, son, from when you were a little boy.
    PETER: Those aren't mine.
WALTER: Then I suppose they must be mine...
And Walter changes the subject quickly.
In "Inner Child", Peter said to distract the boy:
PETER: You wanna take a look at this? His name is Roadblock. He's not really one of your top-tier G.I. Joes, but it is the best we had. Huh. It's funny, I always remember the scar being on the other side. You want him?
The show gave little moments that in hindsight mean much more now that we know Peter is from an Alt Universe.

I've never been a fanboy of any television series until Fringe (well, maybe a little for the original Star Trek when I was a boy). I didn't watch it when it was originally aired but I binged the hell out of it during the early part of The Pandemic. I even bought a couple of t-shirts (Massive Dynamic and Reiden Lake shirts).
There is even a backstory regarding Walter's favorite prog album that really blew my mind (season 3 or 4, I think).

    1. We don't know at this point in the show if the Peter from the other side was sick or not, for now, it just seems that he didn't remember collecting coins.
There are multiple different theories, as far as I know, regarding parallels realities; one says that there is an infinite version of realities, another says that there is just 2 realities where every binary random probability manifested opposite than in ours. And yet another one says there are 2 realities that diverged from the each other as a result of some experiment or event, and continue in a slightly different direction, more and more different from each other as time goes by.
    2. Another current new show (on season 1) that deals with parallel realities is call "Dark Matter" and an older one is called Counterpart (2 seasons total)
    3. This show will just get better and better.
