    I loved this seasson because Adam was in. It was a GREAT character. If you realize, this enemy combines EVERYTHING from previous seassons. Buffy fought demons, humans and robots and Adam was the combination of everything. A perfect being who could kick Buffy's a** hahah. The problem with him was that he WASN'T prepared to fight against magic stuff. He was made to be the perfect fighter and perfect... let's say "scientist" so as in one episode was said, he knew every molecule, everything around him BUT he didn't expect that final fight against that "Buffy "God" mode". He was scared that Buffy had friends who could help her to defeat him so that's why he tried to separate them from her, by using Spike. He couldn't get it and that's why he betrayed Spike and tried to kill him by using Forrest. From now on Buffy changed a lot of her fighting style. Getting stronger as we can see in seasson 5 and so on.

    Another fun fact: Nicknames like Fauxlivia and Walternate were terms used by fans that the writers then incorporated into the show! The writers, crew, cast, etc were all very involved with and chatty with the fan base on forums and social media... Again, one of the first real instances of fans affecting a show in real time. A person could study Fringe. It was almost unreal to experience.

      It was fun being around in those days. Especially on TWoP Yeah, there were online adventures for Alias and Lost, but that was mostly fan and fan interaction. TPTB was involved, and affected by, fan interaction on TWoP. Smallville, Veronica Mars, and Fringe were my first three.

    Peter definitely has to feel lost: the man he thought was his father isn't his real father, his real father is on revenge mode, the girl he loves and came back for doesn't wanna be with him anymore. Now he's like "Fuck it!" gone on a killing spree. The machine is all he has now, it's his new crush. LOL Prépare-toi, la meilleure partie de la série est à venir. Darla of course was the first person to ever speak in S1E1 of BTVS. She has power over Angel, as she is the one who originally turned him, and is using this to manipulate Angel. Great to see Cordelia explaining to Gunn that he is in self destruct mode unless he changes. Charles becoming part of the team is great for the show. Some brilliant witty dialogue around Denzel Washington and The Oscar. S2 has a great arc to it with some fantastic episodes.

    It is a big testament to Cordy's character that when Buffy asked her for a ride, Cordy immediately gave it. She understood that Buffy needed to be someplace that was elsewhere, and despite her anger at Buffy, she didn't even hesitate to give Buffy that ride.

    Quentin says that this tradition started only 1200 years ago. But in the 1st episode, Giles says that there has been a Slayer for as long as there have been vampires, which suggests that Slayers (and therefore Watchers) are much, much older than that. To me, this suggests that this tradition was developed AFTER there was a Slayer that upon maturing into womanhood rebelled against their control. So they developed this test as a way to weed out Slayers from reaching true independent from them. If the slayer dies from the test, so be it, a new, younger Slayer is called who would be easier to control. And if she survives, she does so with the knowledge that they could take her power away from her at any time, and in this way, maintain control over her.

  • @spamfilter32

    Giles telling Buffy she is throwing knives "like a girl" comes right after we see Cordy do what is traditionally called "fighting like a girl."

  • @spamfilter32
    @spamfilter32 8 дней назад

    At the end, Quentin saying that Giles has a "father's love" for Buffy was important to the healing process between Buffy and Giles. Giles couldn't say it to her because she wouldn't believe it. But Quentin is a disinterested 3rd party, so his observation can be taken at face value. That is why Buffy allowed Giles to clean her wound at the end. Had Quentin said nothing, Buffy would not have allowed Giles to care for her at that moment. It doesn't mean that things are instantly OK between them. They still need to put in the work (much like Oz and Willow), but that was the 1st necessary step.

    It is sad commentary on where America is today that we are literally having politicians use flame throwers to burn books for their campaign ads. The parallels to what the N-ideology did in the 1930's is 100% accurate to make. The books they burned in that famous incident were books that came from a very specific library. A library dedicated to books on Trans literature, historical and scientific research. It is sad that so many history classes will show the book burning incident but not talk about the context of what books were burned and why. That discussion might make more people see the true horror of what is happening in American politics today.

    Most people recognize that the day long snowfall is a miracle, but I think there is something else that was also a miracle. Buffy seeing Angel's dreams. We know the 1st Evil was creating those dreams for Angel, so why did Buffy also see them? Something out there wanted her to see them. To see that something was wrong with Angel. Buffy, seeing them was the catalyst that led to her confronting Angel about it.

    One of the things that shows how emotionally mature Oz is, is that he never tells Willow that she has to end her friendship with Xander for them to be together. Oz, being the only one who survives, is an ode to him being the most emotionally mature person in the group. There is also something to that most people see him as the perfect boyfriend. He is kind. He doesn't push Willowninto doing things she's not ready for. He gets her gifts that are meaningful... but Willow still cheated on him. It is an important lesson that you can do everything right (like Oz) and still get cheated on. The lesson being that someone cheating on you isn't your fault. It isn't about something you did, or didn't do.

At the end, Cordy goes through a litany of wishes against the people who hurt her. That ia called venting. And it is a healthy response to hurt. The conversation between Oz and Willow in the hallway, where he says that the reason she wants to talk about what happened is so she can feel better about it is spot on, Willow likes taking shortcuts. When she first asked Oz if he wanted to kiss, that was about her trying to take a shortcut around her hurt over Cander dating Cordy. And, in the prior episode, the de-lusting spell was about taking a shortcut around dealing with her conflicting emotions. And again here, with trying to rush Oz into talking to her.

    A little background, Weyland-Yutani is a massive company with multiple divisions, it is we’ll possible that the division which ordered the Nostromo to investigate LV-426, did so discreetly and without telling the overall corporate leadership. That plus the fact that we are now 57 years away from the events of the first film, the only evidence is Ripley’s testimony, the Nostromo blew up, no record of the orders on that end. I’ll bet Burke, busy little beaver 🦫 that he was, had to do a lot of digging to find out anything at all about that mission. Maybe he didn’t even find anything. The panel Ripley testified before wasn’t from the company, it was of the governmental board tasked with regulating interstellar commerce and travel. So Burke was there representing Ripley at the hearing, he wasn’t with those suits-Because spaceflight is highly regulated and extensive in that universe, the duty fell upon that panel to either keep or revoke her flight officer status, and to determine whether criminal or civil charges should have been brought. Given what scant evidence there was, it seems that they couldn’t charge her with a crime, but were within their rights to revoke her license-I’m not gonna say it was unfair, and frankly why the Hell would Ripley ever want back in Space? But they should have investigated further instead of leaving the Company to do its dirty business. Especially given the things Ripley said.

    For some perspective on the SAT scores Buffy got. The SAT is 2 parts. A Verbal part, which is supposed to measure reading comprehension and language skills. And the Math part which is obviously supposed to measure the students math skills. Both tests you can earn upto 800 points, and then the score from each test is combined for a full score (with 1600 being the highest possible). 1400 is very good score, at the time this episode was filmed the avg score for a Harvard enrollee was 1150. Of course, your SAT score was not the only thing that matters for getting into a college. Your actual grades and recommendation letters from your teachers also matter. Ability to pay and family connections also matter too.

Decent album with a classic rock prog feel, and NOBODY knows who the real musicians on it actually were. Abrams hinted that it was kind of a super group of known artists who were fans, but he never disclosed who it was... I'm pretty sure some were from the Black Keys.

    Interesting to see how many actors in this show are from older science fiction shows or movies. I know you picked up that this guest actor was from the movie Back To The Future in the 1980's and Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek in the 1970's but there maybe one you not noticed already that on the show more regularly. Nina Sharp is an actress from cult hit movie from early 1980's called Altered States. She obviously a lot younger woman in that movie and those big floating water tanks that Olivia has been in is a big part of that movie that Fringe has been influenced by. So this show is really a fantastic more modern take on a lot of science fiction movie ideas and show ideas from 1970's and 1980's. I see a lot of Star Trek and Altered States ideas show up on this show which is great as sometimes they were not able to weave those ideas in with longer story arc in those movies and sci-fi shows from previous decades. Fringe with around 100 episodes is probably the most well produced and wide ranging coverage of many sci-fi ideas all put together in imaginative story that does not leave so many loose ends uncompleted when the show ends. Star Trek and it's Next Generation episodes from 1980's never had the same level of episodes building on each other like this show did by the end. But there were a lot of great sci-fi ideas touched on back then that Fringe show able to go down a deeper story hole with.
