I’m so excited for you to begin S5! Imo it’s the best season of Buffy. S4 wasn’t my favorite but there were so many great episodes in the season. I love the addition of Spike and Tara to the cast. They bring some great storytelling to the show. I’m not the biggest Riley fan though. I’ve tried on rewatching to like him but I can’t. Lol I believe S5 is a more interesting take on all of the characters and they become so much more interesting and deeper. It’s going to be a wild ride!
@VicFrost yes for me ist maybe season 5 with 6 and 7 buffys best time and of course the 3 th.was awesome ,but most people i guess dont like the later seasons that much like myself with 6 and 7 ..but they are really great because buffy (the scooby doo Crew had more Trommler with life and adult stuff and problems and thats makes the Show even better for me ,the Gang struggle now with more adult Themes and situations and all have to grown up from Teen to adults and the life chanings from a Teen to a real adult onces ..I like that and of course thats why even more worst things have to Happen to our Scooby Gang and 4 me Joss whedon did a great Job and the cast with it even that some things are painfully to watch ..but trust me buffy is a masterpiece at the End after 7 seasons ...For me it goes better and better from season to season and this happens not that much ,most TV Shows get from season to season more worst then b4 and fail at the End of the series finale ...take care and have a great saturday and weekend ❤️🫶🍀💚🙏🏻
Even though S4 wasn;t my favourite I think it contained some of the best stand alone episodes in the whole show. Namely Hush, Something Blue and Restless, all of which were great. However, the loss of Oz ( ok we all know that Seth Green had to leave for other projects ), and Adam who was possibly the worst Big Bad in the show took away from the Season, as the arc of the Season wasn' t that great. That being said however, it did well to show Buffy's transition into adulthood, and the comedy moments reach great heights here with some achingly funny scenes, Xander and Spike in the basement was like a reboot of The Odd Couple, some hilarious comedy moments. I thinks S5 is such a step up from this with great drama and terrific arc. Enjoy S5.
Riley isn't a teen - he's old enough to be a teaching assistant, he's not a student. So he's definitely in his 20s. 😉 In the US, there are some 2 year trade schools, but most colleges and universities are 4 year schools and get a Bachelor's degree at the end. Sometimes people will do 1-2 years at a community college because those tend to be less expensive and then transfer to a more expensive college or university to finish getting their degree.
S4 was the weakest overarching "Big Bad" plot. It was due to several reasons. The biggest factor was the unplanned departure of the actress who played Professor Walsh. This completely changed the development of the season. But there was also the big transition between the iconic High School setting and University. This led to(necessarily)awkward issues in storytelling and disrupted Arc development. The last problem was that Joss(and none of the writers) had never been in the same zipcode as an actual soldier, and had real trouble depicting a believable group of soldiers. The whole Initiative dynamic was stilted and campy. It was more "Austin Powers" than "James Bond". That aside, the season has many extremely strong character-centric eps,( several of them series bests)and was by far the funniest of the series. I think "Restless" was one of the most innovative and imaginative things ever done in film. Four YEARS into the series and they pull back to a tens of thousands of years view of Slayer lore, with a meeting between the First Slayer and the Greatest Slayer. It's definitely not a finale or even a coda to S4,, but a thematic prelude to S5 and the rest of the series.
S4 really is about the characters more than the plot. Part of that _is_ probably that the plot is so badly done that the strength of the character moments shines that much more, but I do think the character growth in season 4, as well as episodes driven primarily by the characters in general, were probably the strongest in the series.
Can't wait for S05

Season 5 is my favorite! can't wait!
Christophe beck also scored Frozen.
Oh! That’s so cool!
The sexual metaphor of vampires goes all the way back to Bram Storker's _Dracula_ book.
Joss is SUCH a genius! Can't wait for season 5!

It probably dates me, but I like the music at the Bronze.
I've got the Buffy soundtrack and listen to it often. Lol
Lol same here.
It's hit and miss, but the hits are very much there. There's some bangers through the years.

Regarding vampire guys not biting guys, that's mostly true. Spike did apparently turn Ford, according to their agreement.
I keep forgetting that!
