In Breaking News, PlayStation has now reversed their PSN requirements for PC players, and made it optional. We've also seen Arrowhead's CEO taking to Twitter with all sorts of different posts. Plus, we just got the New Major Order, and as of the publication of this video, nothing has changed on the Steam page for Helldivers 2.

From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

the playstation network account required tag is still up on the steam page , the may 2nd update page DOESN'T say its been removed simply that they are learning about player preference , NOTHING is changed except a REVIEW SCORE FOR THEIR UPCOMING INVESTORS CALL by people taking a twitter post as solid evidence, until the PSN required tag on the helldivers 2 page is removed and an update clearly stating it wont require PSN on steam im not changing my negative review im not falling for twitter crap that can be reneged on without consequence.
This isn't over. Do not relent or forget what happened because this is still Sony. Until everyone can dive again nothing has changed. Until its confirmed that countries that were locked out of purchasing the game can again it's not over. All Sony has done is said things on social media. Talk is cheap, action speak louder. My review will stay negative because I have no faith in Sony to not screw this up later when they try something else.
This reminds me when people bullied Paramount so badly they actually redesigned Sonic back in 2019.

Seriously, this community killed 2 *BILLION* bugs in 8 hours. We also defended 10 planets at once, something we really weren't supposed to be able to do. After that, dealing with Sony's PSN nonsense was a cakewalk.

Depends.. We dont know why the game was sold there or even if was meants for the game to be sold in those countrys. if it was a misstake on sonys part or steams part then those countrys wont get the game again.

PS5 gamer here, I was rooting for PC players from the beginning. After our win, I bought the original Helldivers game in show of support.
It's actually a Great Game, the only reasom I think it wasnt as succesfull is because many didnt Even know it existed...
Tbh man I'm ps5 and at first I was like wtf is the problem here. But then finding out the countries that couldn't have Sony accounts I was shocked at their behaviour. Glad they've turned it around.

The problem is the fact that Sony is trying to force us to create a third-party account when we don't want to. Nobody on PC should have to create anything other than the steam account to play PC games. That is why things like the epic game store failed so miserably. They can't even give away tons of free games and get people to sign up because we just do not care
I bought the original because I liked Helldivers 2 so much but I also played the original when there was server issues at the time

I just thought if a kid had bought the game and then was told you can't make a psn account. You cannot play again was super harsh. The steam page not being updated yet is why I wont be changing my review just yet, until action is taken and things are changed we're not out of this yet and its too soon to claim total victory, but I am still very happy to have waken up to this amazing news and hope the rest comes soon!

They did not cave at all. They are still forcing Playstation network account requirement if you want to play Ghost of tsushima multiplayer mode online. Literally nothing has changed and in fact Sony will probably triple down moving forward. They are going to require accounts be made for all new games and I bet money they will create a Sony or Playstation launcher that you will be forced to use

This is a great victory in itself I’m so proud of my fellow Helldivers for sticking together it’s kinda awesome we actually got a billion dollar corporation to yield.

I think it's Valve that has to change the Steam info. And they have to re-open access to it for all the affected countries, not sure if they did yet.
I can just imagine Joel sitting back, grinning, and thinking to himself, "all that pain, all those failures, all that practice rallying against something great than yourself, look what I've taught you, Helldivers. Well done!"

@@Peglegkickboxer They kind of have to be, plenty of signatures signed to be contracts because Sony was funding them. It's why I'm not going to pin the blame as much as others are at the end of it all. Sony backed down but there is plenty of cleanup from the corpo skirmish all the helldiver's community has had but we'll get our way if we keep at it.

As a Ps5 player with basically all PC players on my HD2 friends list, i really felt for them. PC makes up such a large portion of the community. I stood with my fellow brethren and this is a monumental win! Major Order accomplished
I have all the platforms (XB, PS5, PC and Switch) and enjoy them all but certainly the PC is like the last line of defense. The PC platform must win out or these corporates with their community managers will destroy all of it.

Here's what I think. People here are changing their reviews back to positive little by little. But I think us Helldivers should go a step further and actively start recruiting more Helldivers. That should be the next community major order.
Here's why. For players who love this game this was a nightmare. But for Arrowhead, a company that deserves the success they have, but are dealing with more than they expected, and the problems that come with that, this wasn't just a nightmare, this is their baby more than it could ever be ours alone. Arrowhead isn't blameless, but they really ARE the good guys here.
I think a Helldivers recruitment drive is what this community really needs.
This is actually alot more important than we all realize it's the first time a gaming community actually collectively came together and fought the corporate machine and won. History in the making

Sony thought they could be a Helldiver but realized that starting on difficulty 10 (the community) would be a much bigger challenge than they initially anticipated.

I think that's Valve's responsibility. Once Sony and AH made the decision, it's only a matter of time till we see the change in Steam.

Sony will just sneak in PSN requirement and not have the devs announce it ahead of time - The worst case possible.
Sony/AH offering cosmetic stuff if you sign up for PSN (while it remains optional) - The best case possible.
I don't see Sony abandoning PSN sign up completely.
It's still required for Ghosts of tsushima if you want to play the online multiplayer mode. Literally nothing has changed

It wasn't just us helldivers that did it. As more information came to light. It became obvious that they blew smoke up Valve/Steam's ass about region availability. Steam didn't toss up region locks because Sony didn't TELL them that they account linking itself was going to be mandatory. So Fan lash, lash from Arrowhead itself after learning how things had been conducted on the sales of the game and likely a very very harsh letter of warning from Valve shoved it back. There would have been potentially major legal ramifications pushed against them both, which Valve/Steam would have explained the lack of communication/correct information that allowed sales without region locking, would leave them with annoying legal fees even without other repercussions and then sent up to Sony on a massive platter.
For the region lock, it takes about a day for Steam's backend team to lock a game once they have a ticket submitted by the publisher, in this case Sony. Hope to expect this to be rectified this week.

My take on it was a bigger corpo at Sony that is bigger than the psn guys, saw steam pull it from nearly 200 courties and started seeing massive losses and returns for refunds and basically said "what the hell you guys doing!!!! Fix it " so they don't lock themselves out of massive amounts of possible money
We've won the fight, not the war. Everyone should now see and remember that we the people/consumers hold the power and truly can cause change for the better. Unfortunately, that said, I think the damage to the community has been done. There's been a rift of a sort that's hovering now.
An Idea for the first in-game raid. Helldivers in a team of 8 or 12 have to invade and shut down a media node inside of the Automaton strong hold known as Fort Sony. Make it an absolute gauntlet of defenses we need to break threw and end it with having to use the leaked "Camera Strat" to record raising the Super Earth Flag over the main building while fighting off hordes of bots! The active player count would go threw the roof.

Hey @ltbuzzlitebeer, have you ever considered making a tutorial series on what equipment you use for each mission/enemy type? For the average player, it would be a good one stop shop to make sure we are going in with the best gear and stratagems we can? I know you've done reviews of newly released things, but knowing what gear to use in each scenario would be super helpful!

I used to love playing PUBG, and one thing I really appreciated is the ability to spend a little money for customized armor and weapon cosmetics. Arrowhead could make millions of dollars if they started offering cosmetic packages and players would absolutely love going into missions with some cool decals, different colors, Etc.
You're talking like you never played the game. There's a bunch of microtransaction opportunities in the game.
They're simply optional (i.e. either pay up to get it quick, or grind hundreds of hours to "earn" it the hard way).

The thing i love the most is that the community stood ready at arrowheads side and covered them while they tried to be amicable.
This game and the community really are proving that a group of determined individuals can come together (phrasing) and reach common goals despite distractions.

I was happy this morning hearing of our gloriouss victory only to try to log on to play and not being able to connect to any games, lobbies or even my friends' games. Tried starting my own game, threw a SOS beacon only to play solo for the entire 40 minutes. Disappointment after disappointment.
I agree 100% with the Sony corpo translation. They only admitted to pulling back /this/ release. They have not promised any long term commitment towards the way the game will work in the future for us. They could easily come back with a requirement for the countries that /do/ have PSN access. Or with some other modification that helps fix some of the more obvious issues with their push.
I was thankfully able to refund the game during all this nonsense, and I'm glad I did. I'll take a break and wait to see where Sony lands in a few months, because I have lost all trust for these scummy publishers.
I feel bad for the devs, but they're certainly complacent here too - their community managers blatantly fed us Sony's lie about this change being for our security, when it's clear that this change from the beginning had nothing to do with security (hence why only Sony pushed for it, not Arrowhead, if this change really was good for us Arrowhead wouldn't be pointing fingers at where the change came from). Sony clearly only forced this because they want the monthly active user boost it would come with, and they want to get all of us signed up so they can have our data, our info for marketting, and they can have us one-step closer to buying items from their platform in the future.
I have zero interest in volunteering my personal information to a company that cannot stop having data breaches year after year. They've had a breach every year or two for the past decade-ish. Including one as recent as just last year. These breaches include usernames, password (hashes), real names, addresses, email addresses, credit card information, and more. That's not a company who wants my data for my security. That's a greedy corporation who's a walking talking risk to the security of everyone they interact with.
Give it six months. Then they'll introduce some cosmetic reward for linking your account for a set time.
Then let FOMO take over.
@@graveyardshift6691 meh, if it's cosmetic and it remains optional forever, I won't mind. But the problem is "remains optional forever" is really hard to be sure of. If they pull a stunt like that it'll really make me question whether they want to make it mandatory again a year or two down the road.

There's already some pre-order armor you can't get because you had to pre-order the game to get it.
They do the same time frame but this time attach a 'limited edition' set of armor or cape. Give you until the 30th of the month and a grace period of a week to sign up and link your account.
Once the deadline is past, no more free cosmetic. Just like a pre-order.
Then let the Fear of Missing out (FOMO) take over. Normies won't help themselves and will be tripping over themselves to link up. Especially if they do something like make the cosmetic match a particular set of armor or cape that is hard to match stuff too.
Never underestimate the drive of the Fashiondivers.

As a PS5 player, with many of my close friends I play with on PC, I stopped playing once I heard the news. I'm glad to hear they not only fixed this but did so in a timely manner! For democracy!!
Between this and the D&D OGL scandal, I am very proud and hopeful of our ability to influence change in the face of unfair corporate decisions
No one should be surprised by this. The consumers hold a hell of a lot power over companies and they just need to realize that if they all simply said "No" an entire industry could be improve forcing corporations to choose between change and bankrupcy.
Indeed this incident should serve as a sobering lighthouse for all other gaming communities to realize that they don't have to bend backwards to corpos.
@@EthanBalkfield The biggest problem I see is people not really realizing or caring that their being taken advantage of. As long as the game is "fun" to them they have 0 incentive to do anything.
I also heard, but this might not be true, that Steam was allowing refunds for people in those countries affected by this. So that's another thing that may or may not have affected their decision.
Reviews will take some time to turn around, but you can see it is starting now.
