- I've been wearing the Gear Sport for about 30 days and these are my thoughts. This is a real review, my honest opinions on this vs other Gear watches. How has battery life been? The smaller screen??

Thanks for an interesting review. Do you use it as activity tracker. I'm concerned about the real time GPS performance. There is a big discussion about it, people write that it can stop writing GPS when one is running, there is also question about the obtained statistics.
I have ran with it and have not run into issues with the GPS. As far as the obtained stats...for me it seems accurate from what I know about the didstancve of my runs...now whether or not it is 100%I do not know as I'm not that concerned with if it's off a bit or not. For people really wanting super accurate stats, I'd recommend a watch made specifically for that, like the garmin Fenix

I use bluthoot once or twice a day in evening to sync. My data to my app and to see my notifications when i do not have acces to my phone on classes my phone stay in my bag... get 4 days whit always on and all 2-3 i get days
can that screen be blue and green like the blue version of the gear sport or is it only the yellow and green on the black watch? I prefer the blue and green watch face...so just wondering if it can be either or....green/yellow....blue/green..

Tough question! I have both of these watches. It really comes down to the eco system and if you want "more" from your watch. As far as accuracy, I'd say that the HW2 is a bit more accurate only because the gear Sport HR sensor sometimes stops, I don't know why and it could be fixed with a software update. If you run a lot the HW provides same details as more expensive garmin and polar watches do. Did u see my video on running with the HW2

I think that I will go for the HW2 for the more accurate data and android wear although I prefer the look of the gear watch. The HW2 is also much cheaper here. Thanks!
For sure. The gear s3 is hands down the best looking smart watch right now. The HW2 is second place but the features are top notch... Combine the two and that would be my new watch!
Is the watch still recommended today? (119 euros) or should you go for the samsung watch aktiv (129 euros)?

No it does not. It'll still track without a phone connection
Do you know if it will track Standup Paddleboarding as a specific activity?

So does runtastic run right on the watch, or do you have to have your smartphone with you for the app to work? (I don't have the watch so I am not familiar with how this all works). I currently take my phone with me and track using Endomondo app on the phone. I would like to be able to ditch the phone and just wear the watch. Thanks for your help and advice.
I really don't know what's involved with paddle boarding when it comes to tracking it, But the watch will track distance. Runtastic does not load on the Samsung gear watches. I see why you'd want the sport bc of its salt water resistance but if you look at android wear watches, those will load runtastic and edomundo as a stand alone app.

I bought Samsung Gear sport watch last April 2018 to assist with my Fitness Monitoring. While I admire its ruggedness and fancy looks, its totally unusable for Sports.
The software in this watch is half-baked and has so many bugs in its factory apps.
The following are the issues I experience everyday and can do nothing about it:
1. Non-functional Heart rate monitoring:
Heart rate monitoring is the most fundamental aspect of any fitness tracking equipment but with this watch it never works as advertised. HRM would vanish by itself in the middle of workout sessions for no apparent reasons. Sometimes HRM don't work at all.
2. Incorrect Heart rate measurement:
HRM throws junk value at times when measuring the heart rate during workouts. I often see a Heart rate of 160 BPM while my true readings being 100 or 110 BPM.
3. Battery Issue from day one:
The software prevents battery from charging full causing the watch to heat up a lot. It also pop-ups "Can't charge this gear, Cool down" error message while charging. In summary- Charging this watch is a headache.
4. No Hardcore Sports metrics:
Every sports person require serious sports metrics (Such as Vo2 Max) to measure their athletic performance. I'm surprised a watch of this price range lacks many sports features.
It's unfortunate that none of the above issues related to hardware that Samsung Service could fix or replace it.
It's the crappy Software that causes all issues. I'm very disappointed with Samsung for selling a product without proper testing and charging a bomb price tag.
I strongly don't recommend this product to any one looking for Sports/ Fitness monitoring. There are other genuine fitness watches out there for same price range that can give you much accurate sports data.
Gear Sport deserves a global recall.

I have Xiaomi Stratos2 and I want to buy this one, but if it gives inaccurate readings, better to skip.
Laurynas Adlis - Battery Charging error / Heating issue fixed after an update rolled out last week. All other issues still prevail.

You should. Unless you are doing a triathlon and need serious stats, get a garmin Fenix for that, this is all you need.

Jabber Tech when you get a notification from whatsapp. do you see all the new messages like when someone writes you 3 new massages, do you see all 3 masseges on your watch or only the last one? great review btw :)

Definitely! As long as you're aware of the differences between this and the frontier, and you're OK with it... I'm enjoying this one the most.
