To me, THIS is what The Waterboys have always been about. Age means nothing. They sound as good here if not better than when they were very young. This is community of musicians and people who've come together in such a loving way. 'Tis a beautiful ting!
The best song of the last 30 years? The buskers on the streets of Ireland would probably vote that it is.

One of the reasons I love Ray Donovan is that sometimes the show ends with something so extraordinary that I wind up spending hours finding it on RUclips or Pirate Bay or anywhere because I want to hear it again and again and again ... and this is one of the best. Thank you Ray Donovan people!

Well done, mate. Hey,...have ya heard of "In the Heart of the Sea" ?? Nathaniel Philbrick, that's The Name you need to think of, when you hear about "this movie", later in 2015. 'Not often (now days) anything So Great is written by one with so much detail. I mean, not when it was a true Adventure story that took place in early 1819. THIS IS -- EASILY -- ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS ever READ! & I fear I will give it away, if I go on. Again: True. Survival. Happening. Book written by, ... one who was there. To hell what it inspired (Melville's "Moby Dick".) You may even remember (riiight) my going on about this book in 2009-10? when I read it and just started to post on Fb, how un-fn-beeleevable, this story is. "Is" because it is real, it happened..., and only time (& Melville's great book) blurred, burried this story, which was again, gut-wrenching, heart-filled, ...real-life American history (see: DJ Drama; whale hunting; Massachusetts sea faring; true beauty.) I am emphatically telling you: READ THIS BOOK. BEFORE You See the Movie. I am sure Ron Howard, directing, handles it with the respect it deserves. He is a Great Director. Just, trust me-- you need to read what, Philbrook, himself, "lived" and wrote years after, when incredibly, his account of this classic American-survival tale was found in a most un-conventional way. America became so big, so large that a tale of the sea, I guess, in a time without " media " (wink, wink) was...lost. It was so long-forgotten, and again, it is one-thing to say it inspired Melville to write a classic, fictitious American novel, when he did. It is another to rediscover the crazy, incomprehensible real-life story, itself. It was eal, not the prose of 'Moby Dick', and in my opinion because it was true, a story I can visualize a little more, clearer. the old 'fiction v. non-fiction' battle on this front, I spose. But, with this one-- yikes. We'll all agree, after a deep breath, "Jes', what would I have done?" Do yourself a favor. READ THE BOOK FIRST.

So sad to see Mike turn around to reveal a bald patch. God I hate time.
WHY OH WHY do audiences for this song always go "Woo-hoo-hoo!" on all three choruses, when in fact it's just a single "woo!" the first two times and then a full "Woo-hoo-hoo!" the last time. It's supposed to be climactic, that's why he gives it the full monty on the final chorus. I don't know why this bugs me so much!!! Maybe cos I'm a musician and he recorded it that way (and still sings it that way) for a good structural reason. But people can't stop themselves going "Woo-hoo-hoo!" every single time. In fact every musician or band I've ever seen playing this song in pubs (and sometimes I've been a member of the band!) sing it that way too. Because they overlook the subtleties; which are what make good songs. They're diluting the effect can't they see?? Or rather hear...please someone tell me you agree! I can't be the only one...ok sorry, I'll go and lie down now...
+Tom George You're right, they should stop the song and make sure every person is singing the right words in the right verse. Make them practice over and over and over again untill most of them can do it.Then, if they can do it sober and coherently .. They will be allowed to sing along if they concentrate on not having a good time an sing better than some dickhead on youtube expects them to.If they cant they get kicked out. They paid for it afterall did you..? Now ill have a lie down.. After a few more beers, of course..

haha no problem... i just really respect Mike Scott as a songwriter and I think the single "woo" is what makes the song a bit different. As a songwriter I notice these tiny things...I wonder if it irritates him that people do that - probably not cos he's taking the money!
