Vale Karl Wallinger
Karl Wallinger was one of the best and greatest musicians/ composers / producers and collaborators in music history.
Sadly the great man has died aged 66.
He passed away peacefully at his home.
My throat is tight and my eyes fill with tears.
Karl's music holds a very special place in my heart and soul.
RIP mate you were a genius of the music world.
Always in our hearts.

Jesus, what a song. The perfect opening track to a brilliant album.
Saw the Boyz twice in Chicago. Fall of 89 at the Riviera when they had all kinds of fiddle and cordeen players, and November 27, 1990. When they were a 4-piece rock band (plus the Memphis Horns) that blew the freaking roof off the Vic Theater. Mike Scott is a hero to me.

I’ve been seeing the Waterboys with my mum ever since I was 13 years old. I’m now 22 and still in love with their music. I’ve never witnessed a band as magical and talented as them.
I met the guy who played the opening trumpet solo and told him there were two trumpet songs that made me weep, the other one being Beautiful Child by Rufus Wainwright. He played both of them.
