I read a lot of complaints about late motion detecting, meaning that the "intruder" should come very close to camera ( 2-4 ) meters in order to start recording. Is that the case?
What if somebody removes the camera completely? Are you able to view the recordings or they lost forever?

No there is no option to do that. Also there is no point since it will drain the battery in a couple of days.
