  • Hodge podge dismantling of SPS40C12GB/14 dishwasher (the tedious part), testing the heating element on the heat pump to see if it is blown. Common fault if the water isn't heating up. I bought a new heat pump for about £80 (part number 00651956 - check out the bosch spare parts web site). Sorry about the terrible audio!
Extra tip - when attaching the new heat pump, try to make sure that there is easy access to the collar so it can be tightened further if there is a leak without dismantling the machine again.
Extra extra tip - when I ran a cycle after fixing the new pump, everything worked but towards the end 'Check Water' started flashing and the drainage pump kept on running even though there was no water left to drain. Turns out that some water ended up in the base of the dishwasher (probably activating the float micro switch sensor) which I drained just by tilting the dishwasher. Now everything works like new.

Good explanation. The movement of the camera on the head made me go dizzy.

Having same problem on my 5 year old unit, took the pump out and got the element off, no visual signs, but 0 ohm over the two pins. Oddly I cleaned my bbq grills on the hottest setting 2 days ago, which I have never used, so suspect this may have caused it.... new pump on order, BOSCH direct, £76. Great tutorial, I did manage to get the pump off from the side, bit fiddly with the factory clip, but came off eventually.

Another fault you can get with the Bosch heat pump is low pressure spray. This is because the lugs that hold the impeller blade (grey moulding @7:28) to the motor spindle have sheared off allowing the motor to spin, but only a little flow due to friction still managing to turn the impeller slowly!!
So if this happens you can save the heating element in case the new one fails in the future!

What does the small synchronous motor by the heat pump do?

Shame that there is no option to order and change heating element separately. I had problem with one pump part wearing out, ordered used one complete unit from newest dishwasher by searching part numbers and comparing the date of production. Now 2years later E09 :-(. Back to dismantling. My current machine overall life in use is 13years.

Hi. I have same issue with heater element bured off.... Due to leakage inside once. Did you try or manage to bridge the burned section. I tried but solder does not stick. Maybe due to steel or others non solder able material

I'm not sure what pins exactly you are referring to. the pins to the pump heating element should have about 22 Ohms across them as I point out in the video. Do you mean different pins?

@@MrTiddles666 hi i asked ntc pins. It is near the heater sockets. It is smaller then the heater pins. There is three pins. I have learned it. 1-2 must be 10 Kohm / 2-3 must be 10Kohm and 1-3mustbe 20 Kohm.
      Thanks..
