I think for the money and what you get Hobby Boss are great kits. I’ve got and built. 1/48 A10. 1/48 262. 1/48 FJ4 Fury. 1/48. Tomcat. 1/48. Huey. 1/48. A4. Skyhawks. Love ‘em 👍
Came out well! Good mojo builder because you're almost straight into finishing, sanding notwithstanding. Always fancied the Ju-87 they do, so might give that a go.
Nice looking finish there. The kit may have some "finessing" requirements but it just shows what a bit of patience and effort can produce. There's not much that you can get for less than £10 which will end up looking as good as that one has tuned out.
Ay up! Nice to see you back! 😀 I recently picked up a 1/72 Hasegawa F-18/D kit at my local hobby shop for about C$15.00, and it looks like a great deal. Great job!
Lovely job youve done there! have seen alot of hit and miss reviews on this one. Have been looking for a more modern tooling of the F-5e Tiger as the last one i did was the Top Gun "The Mig" version, that is a tooling from the 80s and is very basic. The extra panel detailing etc on this one looks like it might be worth a go. Will add one to my stash :)
Hi there! I just watched this again, and I think I have you beat. I recently got an Academy Mirage IIIC from my local shop for C$14.27 -- about the same as this kit -- but it's 1/48 scale. The 'pilot' was very lame -- legs and feet like he was being drawn into a black hole... Although it says there's a "highly-detailed cockpit" it is not. Otherwise, it's a nice kit, but like yours the wing seams need some filling, although there were no fit problems like you had. The biggest thing is that the exhaust is wide open -- if you look at it, it's just a hole going all the way down the fuselage. You've done a wonderful job with this, and it's a great example of what can be done with an inexpensive kit and some expert paint work... 👍👍👍 P.S. I also just picked up an Iwata airbrush and compressor kit as an early Christmas present, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the fun! 😀
thanks for the reply i agree some of the cheap kits can be made into very good models with a little care and attention i have built kits that cost over £60 and in my view didnt make into a great model while building kits that are very cheap that make great models i have the iwata revolution and its a fantastic airbrush
Alreet lad, just come across ya channel lad. I'm a Lancashire lad, building over't border. Weird listening to your accent. Could I make a suggestion? Got to be better than the horrendous airfix one. I got it as a nostalgia build. After wresting with that for days i managed to get a decent result but this is clearly the better one!! Lovely job.
Very nice build. I've made two of these. The later kit seemed to be a poorer moulding. I suspect Hobby Boss have been really knocking these out and the moulds are showing their age. Decals are nice I think they may be Cartograf.
i use a mix of about 60% flat varnish to 40% tamiya x20 thinner i try to spray it at about 16 to 18 psi as that stops overloading the model but its all down to each individual airbrush
Honestly, the poor fitment and gaps make this kit even better for what it is - a cheap, beater practice kit. Like you said before, you're only out $12-15 USD. You can practice all sorts of techniques on just this one kit, and if you mess up who cares? One thing I think it would really shine is for dioramas and battle scenes.
