Cool as always. 👍
25 year Retailer here.
For the past year or more, GW has been giving us caps (sometimes quite stringent) on much of the new release product we can order. All stores get the same cap. From the store that does 1,000,000 in sales a year, to the store that has one little tiny rack that the owner brought in so he can buy 40k stuff for his kid at cost. These cap numbers are decided ahead of time, and we don't really have any chance whatsoever of getting more than those numbers. They have X number of product, they divide that by the number of retailers and voila...there's the cap number. With this new system, they will be able to more dynamically allocate inventory to stores that can justify having more new releases. If a bunch of tiny stores don't want any of a release, then those numbers can be reallocated amongst the stores that DO want them. That's one of the things this new system will let them do. It's my hope that I'll be able to see new release numbers more in line with what I actually want, instead of some idiotic arbitrarily low number that's set so low in order for ALL stores to be able to order, wether they want it or not.
but do you trust them to not weaponize the intel?
@@spikeybitstv What 'intel'? They ALREADY have my sales numbers, through restocks. They already know exactly what I'm selling, when i'm selling it, and how often I'm selling it. What additional information are they going to get from this that my weekly restock orders isn't going to tell them?
I've got to admit this feels like GW are struggling with making stuff or they are sick of the amount of holding stock they have,
I Don't have a issue with models being a limited amount , I buy Sideshow collectables but the difference is Sideshow will say they have 500 of a certain statue so people can get there pre orders in, but with GW over the last few years it's like a mad dash to pre order with stuff being unavailable within minutes of going live, I feel like GW should just be transparent and say they now make limited batches, also I'm still waiting for them to officially say what happened with Cursed City
I was 'lucky' enough to be in my FLGS when the owner talked to the GW Rep about this in a very calm and not at all raised voice. I wasn't able to hear the GW Rep's frustration on the call (non-speaker) by just the way the owner was "very politely speaking" into the phone. He actually discussed that GW might just not get orders from his store soon, b/c there ARE other games out there now with much better release processes and more fun games. (I agree)
This new order process is it just for retailers or is this what the general public has to do to pre-order?
Retailers presumably. I heard something about this from one of my local stores.
Stores in my country couldn't order stuff anyway. And they force the "starter sets" on to storesand those don't sell. Want new w40 releases you have to order AoS.
This new process is a total nightmare. Stores have to guess how many products people will want three weeks ahead of time, with one day's notice, and GW has no process for adding to those numbers. Who thought this would be a good idea?
Gw would rather emotionally terrorize stores then increase production orders
I made wild changes after the GW wild changes, I dropped GW from my community service club run TT TPG materials like 40k D&D Alien and blade runner

Just when you thought GW couldn't sc&&&w it's customer base any more while lining it's shareholders pockets yet again. It's gonna shut stores that don't do the business and trouser the ££££/$$$$$$$ saved on that. Appalling!
Yep, GW is awful. 3D print, buy Russian recasts, download all the rules off the bay. Anything but give them money.
I am in England , my local store is one of the bigger games stores, and they are frequently out of stock on Kill Team, Warcry and Titanicus stuff. GW is just pathetic at actually MAKING stuff.
All GW models are over priced, and I won't buy from GW , if I can't get a 20% discount, I won't buy anything. And, with the inflated prices outside the UK, I am amazed that anyone would pay those prices.
well me ok i tryed to buy stock fore GW but cant well not in USAagetst the law but enny one out thare who lives in UK can buy stock be fun see how mutch get back if some did just a think and not shore how menny share you need to buy but if think why not mak monney of GW that whay
What
Games workshop needs to make wild changes on how much they charge and scam extra money. I live in Australia and my Gw prices are a lot higher then the same equivalent to other countries.
So gw is doing far less business as the hobby slowly dies here.
Absolutely ridiculous
GW hasnt been worth the hassle for years now. They continue to make my decision to switch to Warlord/Osprey Publishing stuff easier every single month. I have no idea how these clowns are still in business.
Inertia, and people keep buying everything they put out. Almost every single release sells out immediately, so people don't care. GW has constantly profited by doing the wrong things, so why would they ever learn?
And I have no idea how people have not grown jaded to that yet, when I was playing GW games religiously they were just not acting pro-consumer, at this point they may as well be hostile to the consumer. I have no idea how new blood to the hobby gets the level of stockholm syndrome required to throw stacks of money at a company like this when the alternatives have so much more to offer at such a lower price point.@@Nobleshield
GW sucks now - good models but useless new webstore designed by a 5 year old
It’s just time to move away from this sickness
There are other mini game companies that would love our money
I’ve been addicted to this company 20+ years
Owned my own brick and mortar store( just to be able to play 40k mind you and get my models cheaper lol) and was successful for two years. Then Obama got elected and put the country immediately into recession and my customers couldn’t afford to buy GW anymore.
I Love this game ,don’t get me wrong.
But, trick me once, your fault
Trick me twice, my fault
God Bless
