It was said that Amundsen's team was so well prepared and had enough food that most of the team gained weight by the time they reached back to their ships.
Yes, that was proper project management. I highly recommend Amundsen's diaries.
that is what happens when you get a team that know what they are doing

Fun fact: Amundsen actually borowed Fridtjof Nansen's ship, a famous norwegian explorer and nobel peace prize winner, who had wanted him to go to the North Pole for sciense. But since they were rivals and competitive, Amundsen went straight to the south. Unfortunatly, of all the dogs that went with him, only one returned named "Obersten".
Not the colonel lol
There is a movie about that j think
@@Braindamagedpotato yes its called «Amundsen»
Wikipedia says 11 dogs survived
@@KeanuCheems Survived and survived, the ramaining dogs became unwitting inhabitants of Antarctica.
you forgot scurvy. they brought the wrong supplies and most of them succumb to scurvy, that hinders their mobility on the way back
Another reason why Amundsen was so successful is that he marched exactly the same amount of kilometres every day (27km or so, I am not sure). Depending on the topography, it was quite tiring. On other terrain however, they saved some energy instead of marching until exhaustion.
Flat-Earthers have been real quiet after this dropped 🥶

"You could use these words to describe every Norwegian". As a expat living in Norway for many years I fully agree. The word "social" has very different meaning in here.

My baby don't mess around
2:00 the pee-sicle joke was genius
5:23 pukesicle
two other things you forgot to mention, Amundsen told scott in person that he intended on eating the dogs, also scotts team messed up by bringing a slay made of wood that easily sticks to ice and snow when cold
sleigh* 😆
as a Norwegian, i find it so weird that in every video ive seen about this topic, they allways cover Scott´s journey so much more than the winner Roald Amundsen. in this video aswell they cover Scotts journey and they have 10 seconds at the end where they show Amundsen.
yeah. its a little confusing. Because Roald Amundsens journey is in itself a fascinating story.
Meme-able last words: I'm going out, I may be some time.
Probably because Amundsen had way fewer problems.
You don't hear stories about ships sailing the Atlantic without issues, you hear about the Titanic instead
@@thesquiddler they had alot of issues still. and its a facinating story still. they werent even meant to go to the south pole but Amundsen and the crew didnt follow orders.
1:10 As a Norwegian, i can verify this statement.
@SwedieYT Hepp hepp 👍
This is not about the race to the south pole, this is about Scott's failed expedition
2:34
Dear god....its a Dachshazi 💀
as a norwegian, i can confirm the joke at 1:11 to be 100% factual and not up for debate
As a Norwegian, i can also confirm this. Ofc, this changes when we get drunk, then we are the complete opposite
@@etraaseth1035 Vel så klart!

@@keshaunmorris5980Shadow boxing the globers
Flat earthers will just say the two teams went south, and then turned around and went north again.
Nothing about this expedition would be impossible on a flat earth.
What WOULD be impossible on a flat earth, would be crossing straight across Antarctica. Such as going south from Australia, crossing Antarctica, and then going north to Argentina.
@@DogeickBateman globetards, get it rite more-on 🤣
Feeling Cool on a hot Summer day thanks to the latest animation of Mitsi Studio! One thing is for sure; Mitsi is never going South! Thanks! 🌞☃️
This reminded me of a story my friend told me, he was so cold one night he started drinking alcohol to feel warm and the only think he can remember is waking up on the floor covered in sweat and with pissed stain pants.
When Amunsum was told of Scott’s death he cried out “He’s beaten me!”
Because now Scott is known as Scott of the Antarctic while Ammunsun is just a name you see on Wikipedia.
and the rent boy Norman Scott involved in the Thorpe scandal was then forever known as "Scott of the Arse-antics".
@@johncartwright8154 HA ! , found the "old guy"...... aw dammit, that's me too. 🙃
Amunsum has beaten Scott, too being the main character in a Mitsi Studios YT-clip. So it isnt all bad for him
01:03 As a Norwegian i can for a fact approve this message.
So the West and East poles are still up for grabs?
I guess you should ask the government of Poland about that.
Suddenly WW2 makes more sense
Scott was a military man and ran his significantly larger team like a regiment. Amundsen spent his own money to expand his library and brought it along for the trip, insisting the crew read up
just add salt upon injuries... Scott's team could had fared better with full usage of skii's.
from Wikipedia:
"Scott took the Norwegian pilot and skier Tryggve Gran to the Antarctic on the recommendation of Nansen to train his expedition to ski, but although a few of his party began to learn, he made no arrangements for compulsory training for the full party. Gran (possibly because he was Norwegian) was not included in the South Pole party, which could have made a difference. Gran was, one year later, the first to locate the deceased Scott and his remaining companions in their tent just some 18 km (11 miles) short of One Ton depot, that might have saved their lives had they reached it.
Scott would subsequently complain in his diary, while well into his journey and therefore too late to take any corrective action and after over 10 years since the Discovery expedition, that "Skis are the thing, and here are my tiresome fellow countrymen too prejudiced to have prepared themselves for the event""
And people wounder why Norwegians, and scandinavia, love our skii's so much that we take home most of the medals during winter olympics?
Nice, btw congratulation for the 820k almost 1M keep going🎉🎉
1:50 it wasnt extreme cold because they did the expedition, like any sane people, during the Antarctic summer. The temperatures would've been around -5 C to -25 C (23 F to -13 F). The winds are also much milder during the summer months there.
You have to remember Mitsi Studios is from Netherlands.
Those ARE extreme cold temperatures for a Dutchman.
And for anyone that lives in a normal place
@@jacaredosvudu1638 I live in Finland and those are normal winter temperatures. Though -25 C at the south coast here is pretty rare. I personally love it, and its nothing extreme unless you gotta spend a week in the woods like we did in the military service.
@@rykehuss3435”normal place”

I do mean the above with all affection, but most of the human population live in far warmer climes.

Oh yes, 1912, when the sense of comradery and mutual respect was soooo much stronger than our decadent times. Hope it kept that way for two more years.
Great work as usual
Your style is always so pleasing to the eye
These were the last great explorers of the unknown, who endured conditions very few of todays people could handle. No maps, no satellites or phones, not even a radio to call for help when needed. Stuck in a little canvas tent with 100 mph winds and whiteouts for weeks on end, fingers and toes dropping off because of frostbite, and all for the greater good of the British empire, glad their not around today to see what all that hardship means to the British people of today.
Ahem… Space! The final frontier! These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise!

YO IT'S OUT! LET'S GO!!
There's another story earlier in this saga that also Involved Cook, a Belgian voyage that wanted to christen their new country by being the first to discover the south pole.
Unfortunately, their ship was trapped there in the ice for over a year without making it a fraction of the way there. Months went by where they didn't see the sun, but it was a good opportunity to conduct lasting research. Especially on nutrition (the canned food and bottled lime juice were insufficient to nourish the men and stave off scurvy) and light therapy. Where cook told sickly men to stabd naked in front of the ship's furnace so their bodies could absorb much needed light. Not just warmth

What a deadly expedition
amundsen wasnt antisocial quite the opposite, he picked his crew so that everyone would get along 🫶
Feeling cool
Amundsen’s expeditions were entirely focused on getting all of his crew back alive.
Scott’s expeditions had a track record of being unprepared and desperately trying to achieve results before his last one. He was an idiot.
Mitsi dropped a new banger 🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I swear this is my favorite channel 😂
Nice
Roald did learn to survive the cold by learning from the Inuit people. That's how he managed to avoid hypothermia
I used to be subscribed to your channel, and I just saw this in my recommended and found out I wasn't anymore! I never unsubscribed though. I don't know what happened
I was gonna hope that he’d mention all the fossilized Glossopteris leaves that Scott’s expedition found and kept with them in their tents before the last 3 of them died.
I have been watching your channel since how countries fight there wars but this is my first account I can comment on
Finally
