Remember the Civil War was about State rights regarding OWNING SLAVES. This was big with rich Southerners (who could have easily owned 10+ slaves, ) but very minor with poor Southerners (who owned up to a max of 1-2 slaves). These wealthy individuals also paid fees to avoid partaking in the war, which was done by paying poorer individuals to take their place in the war effort. But going back to the main focal point, this war was absolutely clear about just wanting to own Slaves which is stated in text via the Constitution of the Confederate States, and the States' Constitution
If anyone wants proof that the civil war was about racism: “Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea [from the United States government]. Its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests upon the great truth that the Negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition.” - Alexander Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy
Actually, the poor southeners were just as suportive of the institution of slavery. Aside from the obvious racial superiority complex and the cultural identity aspect of it all (both of wich were big factors), many in the south feared that emancipation would lead to the repeat of the white genocide that followed the Haithian revolution 58 years prior to the civil war. Many ordinary soldiers have made their distaste to the idea of racial equality clear in their letters and journals, most of which are still accessible today.

Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest portion of the commerce of the earth.” - Mississippi Declaration of Secession “No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.” (Article 1, Section 9) - The Confederate Constitution

4:30 except the Emancipation Proclamation didn't actually free anyone. It only applied to the Confederacy, but was issued by the North, which meant it had zero actual effect.
Here are the best lyrics I could decipher for the most part, but I can't figure out that fourth line. "We're marching for the Union," "For freedom and the right," "To kick those confederates clear out of sight!" "They (blame it all on the states?)," "But we know their game!" "Its all About all them :[&&÷%'s!" "They should Feel Ashamed!" "Hoorah! Hoorah! Hoorah!" The generals are yelling, "Fight for the cause!" "But half of us wondered if anyone saw." "The fight's for liberty, the fight's for free!" "Yet some folks still deny what freedom should be?"
Abraham Lincoln was actually quiet about slavery while taking office and before the start of the war, but southern secessionists knew he was an abolitionist beforehand, which is what pushed them to secede. Also, a lot of Christians justified slavery, with the famous argument that Cain from "Cain and Abel" was black, which is why they thought black people deserved to he punished. I don't know the ratio of Abolitionist to Secessionist Christian, but most all of America --North AND South-- was devoutly Christian.
If Abrham Lincoln and John F Kennedy have something in common it is the fact that both of them had quite a mind-blowing time before their unfortunate deaths
The first draft of American Declaration of Independence included that even enslaved people deserved equality and freedom, but at the continental congress they wanted to unify the colonies for war and removed that aspect in the final draft. 😅

I’m kinda sad you didn’t mention the first successful submarine combat mission that you can’t really call successful since it killed more of its crew than the enemy in trial runs and on the mission it killed its crew because they were in the blast radius
