Yes. People all over internet are starting to be annoyed by this, how all the internet has to comply with american ridiculous puritanism. Why should the whole globe follow the american overly sensitive culture norms?
@@IssJa_ i think you misunderstood. This is not about what it's right or wrong or who is right or who you like. I am talking about different culture and cultural norms. Why should people from the whole planet follow American cultural norms in general, not only in this scenario. Americans always try to inject themselves into the conversation. There are discussion about Russia. And one person says that Russia is good because it's like what trump wants and another person says Russia is bad because it's like what trump wants. But no one cares about trump in the rest of the world. They have they own reasons why they like it dislike Russia or anything and it has nothing to do with America. Just stop protecting other people against their will. In Europe many jokes are considered offensive by American standards. So don't read them. Why should all Europeans change their humour to American one? And if you don't understand local culture (in this case Balkan), stop pretending you do. I am so annoyed by all those Americans coming to Russia or even any European country talking about how better or worse it is. How do you know? If you don't speak local language, you don't understand the local culture period. Just stop making up your own ideals. It's very annoying.
Reality is some Balkans countries have more freedoms than so called west. If you like freedom take a wild guess where you be better, in Serbia or United Kingdom, France, Germany... being rich means nothing if you're a slave to new world order.

As a guy whose family is from Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia… i can say there was never a problem with the sub reddit until people that weren’t balkan got involved. yes everyone came from different countries but we all enjoyed the racist jokes about each other. As Ricky gervais said, "just because you are offended, doesn’t mean you’re right”.
It’s always people inserting themselves !! I’m half English half Irish and would banter with the Irish and English all the time it would be a laugh but then people not from either countries would jump in and try to say how disgusting we are and even go on to say that if your half English half Irish your lying because the Irish would never mingle with the English .. not realising just how many cities in England are mainly Irish 😂 it really annoys me that these people insert themselves into other cultures and try to control them and virtue signal it actually really angers me the entitlement these people feel to do that.
19:54 Montenegro is the actual name of a Balkan country. It means "Black Mountain" in Venetian. But yeah I've seen Americans saying it sounds racist and needs to be changed. Imagine being a small European country, getting cancelled for having a "racist name", and you didn't even pick it yourself, the freaking Italians did.
@@misterbuck1242 No, but according to another bright american, "Montenegro" was called that way to troll the americans. Not that the name of the place is centuries older than the USA, but pointing that out to americans is like trying to convince a Greek to eat lamb chops with a knife and fork :P
Yep even the Irish aren’t allowed to take part in it and are told recently they have white privilege.. the Irish who never got involved in anything bad and were not considered white enough like my half of the family are now taught not to be proud of their culture and that they have white privilege 😂 god the stories me grandad has when he came here to England and now he’s expected to not be proud of his culture and that he has privilege .. it would be funny if it wasn’t sad
I'm from Serbia and I must confirm the positive effect that the internet has had on our region. 15 years ago we all used to fear eachother, because we all genuinely believed that the "other side" is obsessed with hurting us (which was only true for a very small, less than 1%, least inteligent minority of each country). This fear would fuel hate in some. Then the first major good thing that has happened were early youtubers. Serbian kids would stumble upon Croatian youtubers, Croatian kids upon Serbian youtubers, Bosnian kids.. You get the point. These youtubers were the people who grew up during the wars and knew how terrible the nationalism (don't mistake it for patriotism) can be. They've all became friends and organized meetings in each country. These kids that watched them, that are young people now, have dropped this old mentality and started befriending their neighbours. Since Serbs, Bosnians, Croatians and Montenegrins speak the same language, which Macedonians and Slovenians tend to know as well, this wave didn't really reach the rest of the Balkans. These reddit forums in English seem to be what is now helping the rest of the Balkans to befriend eachother through banter.

I worked in a store in a touristy spot in Serbia and the reoccurring things were always: 1. non-Balkan people being amazed how great and different everything is from the picture politics painted(and I mean for Balkans in general 2. Balkan people absolutely loving each other Parts of societies that imo bring a lot of unwanted negativity are politics and media by proxy, and also football fans.
Bravo. The one other thing that is sad amongst Balkan people, they are very gullible. Some (mostly western propaganda or some powerful organization or people) "injecting" idea about internal conflict is so easily added between people so they start thinking how to do harm to others, instead of doing opposite, exposing and ignoring those provocations and have integrity to say, NO, i will not do that, and point out those persons. That's i think our biggest flaw in addition to not understanding that PEOPLE are power not government or some individuals.

My time in the Air Force though even enlisted were pretty well educated most have 4 year degrees by 6 years in. I'm sure the navy gets similar numbers. Officers across the board are well read.
@Robert-ms2xs well think about the people pouring into the country and the fact that they took out necessary things like SAT tests and other basic subjects like Civics out of schools. (Some of the basic things are now in college) So the people (this generation) are getting dumber and dumber on average . The high school drop out rate is higher than ever. This issue affects in most urban areas like Chicago, S.F and NYC, etc. Social media has its pros and cons but the algorithm is horrible. The diversity, equity and inclusion that I was taught as a kid has been misused and abused by the higher ups and is causing this great divide. (Eg Boeing and most recently Apple)
@@Robert-ms2xs politicians have no combat xp. Many even lack education and so are neither scholar nor warrior. As for military dont look at top, look bottom...
The real problem is Thucydides forgot about idiots, or not IDK. I wasn't alive back then. When I got older I learned that my generation can let go of the hate by coming together and poking fun of each other. Just leave us alone, you're out of your element.
you don't need to hate the serbs, just don't like them too much. We were in great relations until we started calling each other "brothers", thats when problems that lead to war started. Each to their own, we don't need ot like each other.
The mutual "hate" in the Balkans is kind of like that of sibling "hate". You'll mess with each other, insults and sometimes even fists will fly. But the moment some outsider tries to interfere or pick on one of the siblings? Shivs are out and things are a single bad word away from a crime scene.
@@fico1500 See, it didn't start because of just the Serbs. Every greedy rat with a politician suit on exploited every tiny bit of unity and nationalism to squeeze a copper out of the poor working class, to the point where we had people building railways practically for free, and the people were happy. Soon as Tito, the God-Emperor of the Balkans, died, things went south, because those greedy rats realized the one thing holding Yugoslavia together was gone. A little bit of hate speech here, a little bit there, some false promises here, poor management there, wasting money here, politicians taking it there, and everyone starts blaming one another. Fast forward to 2024 and all that somehow boiled down to "Serbs bad kill em all". There's no need to hate anyone anymore, we're all too young to have been slighted by each other.
Heh, I remember during the war when Yugoslavia broke up that at some point the USAians where bombing some one or other using "stealth" bombers. Asmon saying some people in the Balkans don't have electricity reminded me of that Democrat lady who said there were black people in the Bronx who don't know what a computer is.
An American dude said "Serbia is like child from a marriage of Russia and Spain". That was close to the truth, Asmon, you dont have a clue. I Live here already 49 years, and racism is not rooted here.
no electricity? warlords? wth? must be a multiverse variant. there are some extreme regions but they are not the norm. most balkans( romanians included) live pretty normal lives, just without the western woke bs
Same-ish problems too. When I was in Sarajevo (capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina) last year, everyone with a degree is talking about arabs invading the real estate economy and everyone without a degree is complaining about arabs being rich kids that makes a mess everywhere (you literally just have to ask a taxi driver lol). And it feels like a relatively recent issue (I'd say the past 5 years? Haven't been there frequently in a while) But yeah, Asmon has contracted the internet gaslit syndrome. He's just scared as hell for no reason. I'd even add as a bonus to go against the video that bordering countries aren't hating on each other. I was literally talking to a Serbian, casually, during my time at Sarajevo and telling them about good Cevap restaurants nearby lmao Insults (how bad and scary they are) are stuff to do on the internet that feels nice to do to get over an issue and even to reform friendships (and I still find it wild how sensitive people are to insults on the internet and would call you a psychopath for it, out of all places) Unless you're a 40-50+ y.o. that committed an ethnic crime during the war (you know, raiding villages, r*ping and k*lling families. Whatever side you were on), you're fine dude
On the other side my friends and colleagues who have roots and family there are saying wage is like 30% of what austria/germany has, not enough money for a lot of people to live normal niveau, the ukrainian refugees are having 3-4x more now with that 30-40% in east/central/south europe than before… Capitals are pretty ok, but if i drive in rural area in romania, bulgaria… cows on the street, no street lights… Albania / serbia still having a lot of communism / mine field flair… Kosovo basically split in 3 or more governments…. And greece / romania not identifying as balkan at all 13 years ago when i drove to branch in hungary holes in the street enough to place 2 GIs with AKs as watchpost… Then came EU money, now holes only destroy car suspension, no place for watchpost
Im Bosnian, and Bosnia is a safe haven for criminals bcs EU can't touch them there. So warlords is not too far-fetched, the criminals pay the political powers too stay and since Bosnia is not a part of Eu well it is pirate bay. The wage outside the capital if you are lucky is about 500 - 800 dollars a month. Infrastructure is bad, roads have holes, electricity cuts if there is a storm. People that are mad about him talking are people that don't live in balkans a.k.a diaspora
It's ironic how Asmon before starting the video was saying how upset people from the Balkans got at his comment and then later said he understands a lot of people don't like westerners talking down on them.
"too poor to afford snow", damn that's a lot coming from an american, ah america, the country where you have to pay 2000$ rent for one room apartments and then work 2 jobs and have 1 hour free time per day only to be able to not starve
Americans think they are the most modern civilized country when in reality they are way behind most western European countries and even most eastern European countries in infrastructure, political systems, healthcare systems, schools, safety and the list goes on.
As a Balkan myself, I can confirm, the way we greet each other is with racial slurs, and in minutes we become fast friends. XBOX live's soul is safe. Also someone needs to give asmon the "Living ironically in Europe" channel. That dude makes the best videos about Balkan culture and memes.
You could say it was bad. Some countries have it far worse. You cannot compare Moldova (some considered it balkan) or Bosnia to Croatia or Serbia. 15 or 20 years ago a couple of them had awful wars.
I'm from Croatia, Balkan. Not only that we hate our neighbors, but we also hate each other in same country 😅Like North and South Croatia hate each other. It's even more fun because, Croatia have about 4 million people and size of a 21,845 mile2, which is like some small city in USA 😅
A rare smart comment in this thread... I always laugh when people talk about the patriotism. I'm like: "Your own people hate each other. There's hate between the two different parts of the same city... between the two football clubs of the same city. Wtf are you talking about?!" But... when talking about other countries, they all seem so united, like "Serbians love Russians! We're brothers!" A Serbian can't be closer to a Russian, than the way the Ukrainians are closely related to a Russians, and look at them, killing each other like the worst enemies.
Im from Bulgaria. A few things.. 1. Bulgaria and Romania share a border and they are really good friends generally. 2. One issue with our countries are the gypsies. Not all but most are very vulgar and dirty and lots of western countries sees us as those people which is unfair. (Gypsies have lots of benefits here too btw) 3. Our biggest issue though is education. Our systems are so corrupt and burocratic and combined with the poor investment into educational systems most bulgarians study abroad and rarely return thus the declining population. 5. Final point: Im very optimistic about the future of my country. If some investments into education are made and more anti corruption parties start winning we can bounce off. We have the nature, the kind people and the quality of goods. We just need our people to stay home and invest in it. Also as my good friend from Holland once said: its not that western politics are not corrupt, they are just much better at hiding it
Wel yeah, but I would say corruption in the west is more like a mayor using taxpayers money to go on a vacation to the US. Corruption in the east is more like the prime minister owning multiple mansions and a bunch of luxury cars.
You're delusional if you think the demographics of the Balkans is anywhere close to be redeemable. In the end the remaining young people will only suffer more because of the dynamics and lack of economic prosperity and they will just take the next bus to a West-European city.
The Balkans aren't as bad as Asmon might think. While some areas do face challenges, the majority of people in the Balkans enjoy a good quality of life. The main issue in certain parts is that the economy is more locally focused rather than globally integrated, which can make accessing goods from abroad a bit harder. However, this only affects specific areas, as most of the region is well-connected and functions smoothly. As a Slovenian, the only "hardship" I experience is shops being closed on Sundays. In fact, when compared to many other Western countries, our quality of life is not just on par but often even above average.
Only thing I think we lack is a bigger salary. My friends from Germany sent me a photo of the grocery store Kaufland, and they have lower prices in euro than in my country, after conversion to local currency, while also having a minimum salary of 430 euros per month
The Balkan islands don't have a higher quality of life than most of the West. If they did, then they would rate highly on these global ratings. Such as - Freedom of information/speech ( don't worry America is like 15th and they claim to be number one) - Happiness - GDP, etc etc New Zealand, Switzerland, and Finland are almost always at the top of those lists. I just checked, and Greece, (im using Greece because it is the highest rated country in the Balkan Islands) rates the 28th best quality of life. 27th is the best country overall. I'm not even looking for the rest because they don't rank Metrics judged to determine this are : Job market Affordability Economic stability Family-friendly Income equality Politically stable Safe Well-developed public education Well developed public health Don't get me wrong. 27/28 is still really high compared to the number of countries we have globally, but to say that you guys are above most of the west is not only subjectively incorrect, but it's objectively incorrect by basically all metrics we can reasonably measure Basically all of the countries above you guys are Western.

Balkan people have been through so much war and conflict and slavery that they developed thick skin. I'm a digital nomad from Brazil. I lived in Serbia for 1 year, Bosnia for 6 months, Georgia for 1 and a half year (although this last one is not balkan, it is in the caucasus), and I also lived in scandinavia for about a year. In my experience, the balkans are a better place to live than scandinavia. Sure, scandinavia is comfy and peaceful as hell, but their culture is hypocritical and degenerate. It was clear to me that many scandinavian men disliked the fact that I was living there, but none of them had the balls to tell it to my face. Scandinavian men don't have balls in general, it's an absurdly feminized culture. I could not make friends in scandinavia, because although everyone was gentle, like you can see in female friendships, it's all a facade and they secretly resent you. In the Balkans, people would be racist towards me sometimes but all it took was a bit of conversation to become friends. This is because I actually respect people who stand up for their own kin and nation, and I never had any intentions of permanently settling down in those countries. I don't belong there, I was there just for work. In the Balkans, respect must be earned. In scandinavia, you are forced to respect everyone or else. Since those experiences, I have come to respect Eastern Europe more than the West in general.
Cara, você me fez imaginar uma cultura inteira que vive em climinha de treta feminina de escritório, onde aquelas panelinhas de falsidade, mentira, puxão de tapete são a regra. Escandinavia não me pareceu um bom lugar kkkkkk
i knew a brazilian back in my home town in macedonia, he came to play football (how stereotypically brazilian) but when he smiled he looked like a gypsy, but he was good at football and funny so everyone liked him
I will admit us Scandinavians will often just ostracize people we do not like instead of telling you we do not like you. We do not want to fight so easier to just not be around you instead of trying to explain what we don't like about you. Because be honest, you were never going to change if they had told you what was wrong with you. So better to be quiet and wait for the problem to go away.

In the Balkan countries, the comfort of life is mainly divided into two sides: a couple of large cities where most people live and where people live well, especially if it is the capital, and the rural side where the infrastructure is lacking and where people live worse, which does not mean that there are no people who do not live comfortably in the countryside. It still depends from country to country and geographic location. The coast is usually better than the mountain parts because of the money from tourism, but that also depends on the place. Corruption is a big problem, salaries are lower than the EU average, politicians are terrible, but most people do not live in huts without electricity and the Balkan countries are not one place. In comparison, the larger Balkan cities have more life and beauty than most American cities. I assume that Asmon bases his knowledge on something that someone told him, without having informed himself or, God forbid, visited a country in the Balkans. I also assume that he thinks that something like a robbery or a murder would happen to him, although on average the Balkan countries are safer and some of them are the safest on earth, let alone compared to America.
Funny how Asmon react to US video and said this not how it look there also he believe how everything look in the country through a video about that country.

The large cities isn't " most people " It is at most 50% of a Balkan nation's population. You can take the population of any region, and remove the population of the largest city from that region, the end result is the % of people living in a large city, vs % of people living in a small city or rural area. Do that for the entire nation, and you know what % of people live in the largest cities. I am pretty sure that he meant the no electricity part as a joke. Born and raised in Balkan. Still living here. It was bad 30-20 years ago, after the fall of communism and during communism. Since we joined EU it is steadily going better and better. At this point many Balkan countries are much safer than the west and provide a good quality of life (work - life balance), chill culture, and yeah you don't make nearly as much money, but everything is not that expensive. It has gotten to the point where many people are coming back and also - many westerners move here after they give up on the rat race they can't win. They call themselves "expats" because you know - immigrants is for "other people" even tho the are exactly immigrants
I moved out from Serbia. Serbia isn't in the EU cause of their tight bond with Russia and will never be, but last time I was there in march, it wasn't at all bad. It's not like Scandinavia, but it's definitely not much worse than Central Europe. And it's definitely better than the US. US is a second world country who's standard of living is trending downward. I mean just look at their politics and the average intelligence.
Immigrants actually go to a country eith the intention to live there from the beginning. Expats often just go to a country as an expert worker or is sent there by their company to work in the office in another country. Of course some expats stay and live there but normally isn’t the intention. So some expats do end up as immigrants but to make it sound like they are too good to be called immigrants is just short sighted.

People really need to stop allowing nationalism to painted as negative. There's a reason that became a thing because a nation which doesn't care about the culture, tradition, history and their own people is severely weakened and you end up with what we have right now. A country tearing itself apart from the inside.
It is difficult for the USA, because the population is not homogeneous. Anything turns into a conflict between sufficiently large groups. When the country has a homogeneous population and there is a real nation, then I see nothing wrong with nationalism. Who does it harm? Unwanted guests? Well, that's why they're unwanted... It's just that the West likes to mix nationalism, chauvinism, and militarism together. For example, I'm from Ukraine, our nationalist idea is "get the fuck out of us, we want to live with our culture".
Censoring Balkans while being a Westerner is a peak of being privileged.

"In 1949, Stalin arranged several assassination attempts on the PM of Yugoslavia Josip Tito. In response, Tito wrote Stalin a letter: “Stop sending people to kill me. We’ve already captured five of them. If you don’t stop sending killers, I’ll send one to Moscow, and I won’t have to send a second”

A few things..
1. Bulgaria and Romania share a border and they are really good friends generally.
2. One issue with our countries are the gypsies. Not all but most are very vulgar and dirty and lots of western countries sees us as those people which is unfair. (Gypsies have lots of benefits here too btw)
3. Our biggest issue though is education. Our systems are so corrupt and burocratic and combined with the poor investment into educational systems most bulgarians study abroad and rarely return thus the declining population.
5. Final point:
Im very optimistic about the future of my country. If some investments into education are made and more anti corruption parties start winning we can bounce off. We have the nature, the kind people and the quality of goods. We just need our people to stay home and invest in it.
Also as my good friend from Holland once said: its not that western politics are not corrupt, they are just much better at hiding it

Sounds so great for someone who has ideas out of their ideology.

Unpopular opinion but i think nationalism is incredibly healthy for any country.

I think westerns dont understand this, I'll give you an example, I'm Romanian and went to Bulgaria to do some shopping, i live close to the border, when I payed, i said to the owner to keep tge change,he said no,we dont take bribes in Bulgaria ....i started laughing and saying neither do we in Romania, then he started laughing and invited me to a cold beer and gave me some stuff for free. You see,we can do this because we lived the same way for hundreds of years
My car slided off the road and a tire went into a canal.
10 cars behind me stopped, people came out and helped me out.
The guy whose canal that was invited me for a beer and lunch if i wasnt in a hurry.
Very nice people.
People in big major cities are garbage though. Its the same everywhere. City people are garbage.
Bruh, Balkans are better than USA now lol
Nope. You have UN peacekeepers there because you cant control yourself.
Yeah, it's better at getting conquered 🇺🇸🇺🇲🦅🦅🦅🦅🔥🔥🎆🎆🎇🎇🧨🎇🦅🦅🦅
Damning with faint praise there. To be fair UK is worse still but that's because we have more albanians than you do.
@@mandowarrior123you really think the albanians are the problem in the uk?
they are poor af

Born and raised in Balkan. Still living here. It was bad 30-20 years ago, after the fall of communism and during communism. Since we joined EU it is steadily going better and better. At this point many Balkan countries are much safer than the west and provide a good quality of life (work - life balance), chill culture, and yeah you don't make nearly as much money, but everything is not that expensive. It has gotten to the point where many people are coming back and also - many westerners move here after they give up on the rat race they can't win. They call themselves "expats" because you know - immigrants is for "other people" even tho the are exactly immigrants
Shhh keep quiet 🤣
@@MyaB1986lol you moved out from Serbia but you still brainwashed by communists and maybe by the rest of central Europe that America is a 2nd world country, I guess you never been to America😅😅😅, my family and friends from Spain were badmouthing America too untill they came here and visited from east to west from Detroit to LA 😅😅😅😅
Yet the amount of people who leave the Balkans is higher. Numbers mean you are lying.
I was a part of one of the Balkans communities in Eve Online. It was fascinating how we all became like family just because no one wanted to speak English.
Nice, where you from? I visited Ljubljana, wanted to tour the Balkan area but didnt have time
Balkans is great place. Spent last summer touring Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia.
Asmongold can be summed up in two words: confidently wrong
What are you offended by, lol?
@@JokingAroundInternetdude spouts complete nonsense about there being no electricity and warlords in the Balkans. Meanwhile in reality Romania has better internet speed than the US

@@CatroiOz obviously he didn't mean all balkans. He have seen some shit, and good chance that what he have seen was true. He's from the richest country in the world, right? Do you want him to hold back on how miserable Balkans are in terms of wealth? I think it's funny. He even says how funny Eastern Europeans react on wealth comments. He knew he will get comments like that. He's a funny guy.
Love how Asmon is trying to show us he knows the Balkans by saying nothing true
I'm from balkan as well as a youtuber , love from Serbia!
People really need to stop allowing nationalism to painted as negative. There's a reason that became a thing because a nation which doesn't care about the culture, tradition, history and their own people is severely weakened and you end up with what we have right now. A country tearing itself apart from the inside.
It's to force westerners culture to be replaced.
i support British nationalism
As a Briton, all I can say is Albania for the Albanians! (Please put them back)
It is difficult for the USA, because the population is not homogeneous.
