I installed the Kahuna Heated grips on my 2019 RGS the wiring from those grips go right down inside the bar's so you don't have to run the power wire exposed or modify the switch housing to get the wiring in the bars. I fished the cable through the Bars using weed eater line, it's pretty firm and goes in pretty easy. I purchased the cable as well but didn't use it since I found a spare aux power connector inside the gage housing on my bike, purple and black wire, I just plugged the power connector into it and was done. Just a little over an hour to get it done.

These particular grips from Harley didn’t have the plug. These were meant to wire the way I shown in the video with the harness. However my friend bought a different set of Harley heated grips and yes they wired the same as yours.

The Kahuna grips are the only headed grip Harley has that all the wires go internally.

Thx for this. I have the kahunas as well, so I don’t need to run power under the tank and all that?

Just finished the install. Your video is right on target! For those of you that asked below. I found on my 2019 RGS after I removed the U shaped trim piece then turned the ignition to wheel lock and then took the screws out the shroud came off right over the top. Thanks again this video it helped me do this install without issue! I'm now ready or the winter riding season!

I was in the same boat as you. Bought a Special, but didn't know I really wanted a limited until I was too far in. LOL I just traded my 21 RGS for a 22 RGL as I loved the Apex paint job and wanted RDRS which my Special didn't have. I wanted my Willie G heated grips from the Special on my Limited, so thanks so much for making this video. I needed it.

Finally the algorithm paid off. I had been searching for something more currant. I have a 2020 RGS and purchased the streamliner heated grips. Not my 1st choice but they will be fine. Directions are crap as everyone has said. Strange that the throttle side is pre-wired and simple. Clutch side not so much. Videos are hard to make by yourself and I think you did a great job.

P.S. I have a 2015 FLHXS, and this was the best video I’ve seen yet.

this made me think I was going to have to hard wire these after running wires threw the dog bone but with a little luck I found the 2 connectors behind the speedo there back there its all plug and play

Great video with alot of good info. Like to point out if you are going with taller bars you will need wire extensions. Im running 18" Carlini bars and ordered the extentions with the extended wire/ cable kit. Bars are 1.5" diameter so pulling wires is a breeze with cable wax.

I WAS WRONG!! I just through there was no way it was this dumb of a process but you are exactly right. I am sorry!(You do not need the additional harness or remove the gas tank. Lots of extra work here)

Thank you very much for your video I just purchased a 2012 Road Glide, and I had the Willie g heated grips I was going to use but their cable actuated throttle instead of electronic. So I will be purchasing the ones you used. If anyone wants to buy my cable throttle Willie g heated grips HMU 😆

Not sure what grips you got but I did have to take off ignition, just unscrewed display and turn ignition to lock position and slid over it, also didn't have to run wires down to battery, everything just plug& play up front.

I bought the kahuna and plugged straight into the plugs in the cluster. Now I’m getting a code saying that running lights overload?? Not sure if it from the grips or something else? They worked fine for a few days and now I have a code

You didn’t need to take the ignition off. The speedo assembly will come off over it.

Are you sure you needed that other power cable? The StreetGlide has a switched power connector in the faring. I’m pretty sure the road glide does. It kinda looks like the plug that connects the L grip to the R grip.

21 road glide standard no need to run wires its plug and play you just have to look for the connector behind the speedo

Anyone know if the '21 RG standard has the aux plug in dash, or do I have to go through ass pain that you did?
Btw, solid video for filming by yourself and running into all those problems.

I can not find my plug. There is not one on my 2016 ultra road glide, there is also nothing under Speedo or side cover! Still lost with this crap!!! Heated grips are about to go back!! Not worth the headache and bullshit
