Great video, shop quoted 4 hours or $700 in Australia, with your great video got it done in 2.5, the trimmer wire was the most challenging part but i found running from the instrument cluster to the hole where the clutch clamps and then feeding another wire from the handlebar end to the same clutch hole and taping them together made it easier then the rest was a walk in the park, appreciate the video and time to do it, thank you 👍

@@HDVIBE do you have a video on REPLACING heated grips? I bought a set to replace. And I can’t find a video to support my search. I have the 2018 ultra limited touring bike. Thanks in advance
@pwinters72 I do not have a video on replacing heated grips. However I have done it before. Basically the same as adding them except you need to remove the old ones. The old ones are wired just like the replacements. So you take the old off by pulling all the wires out...then put the new ones on like in the video. Hope that helps.👍✌️👊
Thanks for this. I will be adding them over the winter! My only concern is running those wires Thru the aftermarket kst pioneer bars that I have. And if I understood correctly the factory wiring for the heated grips is already in the harness going up to the throttle side.
Thanks for watching and commenting. That is correct. The throttle side wiring is already in the factory bars. If you are already a subscriber to the channel.. thank you. NEW SUBSCRIBER! I'm currently looking at a 2023 road glide st and I really like it. Everything I didn't like about it you fixed! I might have to go get it tomorrow 😂. I'd like to learn how to work on it myself but I'm uncomfortable working on 2 wheels without supervision. I think I'll have a shop make all alterations. That makes me sad.

@@HDVIBE I removed my instrument cluster. My 2019 Road Glide Ultra has auxiliary driving lamps, so there is a large auxiliary connector on the left side of the cluster for the switch. The right side of the cluster also has a large auxiliary plug going into a dummy plug. I found the black and white wired connector, but there is no purple and black wired connector like you showed. However, the large auxiliary connector in the dummy plug on the right does had purple and black wires along with others, and they are 12V hot with the ignition on. Are these the wires for the throttle side you mentioned? I looked at all of the wire harnesses coming out of the handlebars, and I don’t see any wiring that’s not already going to other plugs.
@HankHill757 The plugs should all be inside where the guages go. You would not use any of the plugs from the dummie buttons. Those are for other accessories. Sometimes you really need to dig around to find them. 👍
@@HDVIBE Yeah, I really searched based on your original instructions. I’m going to pull it apart again along with the right grip and test do a continuity test from the plug on the right grip to various wires coming out of the handlebar harnesses to try to determine which ones they are.
@@HDVIBE I pulled everything apart and unplugged all the connectors under the gauge cluster area. Only found the black/white wire connector as before. I removed the right handgrip and checked the continuity of the two heater wire holes. They are the black/ white wire connector. Looks like I’ll probably have to buy the harness with the heated grips so I can wire them for power.

@HDVIBE do you think someone could get by with just pulling that left grip off and the wires through the bars for taking heated grips off (after disconnecting under front fairing)? Street Glide, if it matters...I want to transfer them to another bike.

Good video. My 2016 RG Ultra only had the black and white factory wire under the speedo/tach. So, I believe I will need the additional wiring kit.. Do you have a video showing how to install that?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I do believe the RG ultras do require the additional harness. Unfortunately I do not have a video showing that installation. I have heard from other viewers with the RG Ultra that it's not to difficult. Just follow the instructions supplied with the harness and hopefully it will be straight forward. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
@@HDVIBE Actually, i pulled the fairing off, and found the plug, with the insert in it, near the right turn signal plug. I ended up cutting it off and soldering the 20" grip kit connector, using heat shrink tubing, to it. I checked with an ohmmeter and found that the plug i had found also goes to the cigarette lighter fitting on the left side of the fairing, from the riders view.. It. Works well. It's too bad HD isn't consistent with their wiring. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I believe I covered that in the video, but, as seen in the video, no need for the harness the Harley instructions stated. The only situation which may necessitate the harness is if you have other accessories using the power source that is used for the heated grips. I’m looking to fit to my 21 model year street glide. I’m not sure it was explained how you better bike bars straight to work on the bike if you’ve locked the bike taking the lock barrel out in the lock position?
Thanks for watching and commenting. If you remove the ignition, you definitely don't want to put the ignition back into the slot in a different position. @stevewright1958 The instructions for the HD grips say you need the additional harness but on the 2021 you do not. You can use any Harley grips that are specified for your year and model. The grips i used in this video are the empire collection.

Thanks Don for watching and commenting. Hopefully you can get them working. The other thing to look for is any nicks in the wiring on the grips. I'm trying to install the heated grips on my 23 tri-glide. I can't seem to find the powered accessory plug on the right side. What color are those wires and did you find it under or over the radio platform? I did comment prior on the original video.
The plug on the right side as your looking at the bike are black and red. It will have a dummy plug in it as well. Mine was hard to find but as shown, I found it. If you can't find it, it maybe that the tri Glide uses that plug for another accessory. So in that case you may need to add the power harness harley notes in the instructions. 👊✌️👍
