    DESCRIPTION
    Keep comfortable on cool morning or frigid night rides. These thermostatically controlled grips feature variable heat settings controlled with a military grade resistor, and use automatic temperature monitoring to adjust to ambient temperatures. Grips have been thermally mapped to provide a more uniform heat and are designed to achieve a maximum operating temperature approximately 20° Fahrenheit warmer than previous accessory heated grips for added warmth during cold rides.
    • With both hands on the grips, they remain at a constant temperature regardless of changes in outside temperature
    • Self-contained control circuit and control knob means no additional switches or controller boxes to mount
    • Switched on/off with the ignition to avoid draining your battery
    • Easy-to-install glueless design allows removal of the grips without damage
    • Deeply grooved, rich black rubber provides the grip you need while a deep Bar & Shield logo and dark gloss black add stylish accent
    • Complements the Chrome Kahuna Collection Engine Trim
    • Chrome finish

      Thanks Scott for watching and for the suggestion. I'll will think about that. They have a heat setting range from 1 to 6. The highest I have ever put mine to is 3...and that is while wearing leather gloves. Any higher than three would be way too hot. After getting off the bike with grips on, they are very warm to touch for some time to the bare hand. 👊✌️👍

    I had them do the grips when they did the 12" bars on my '20 Trike. My grips are on in Acc and Ign. Did the dealer use the wrong connector? Haven't opened the fairing up yet to check color codes. I was thinking about adding a relay powered by the Ign. tap so the grips would only be on with the bike running. If I can find a Ign. only plug. Made the mistake of checking the GPS on the side of the road with the bike in Acc. and the grips on. Wakes ya up fast when you grab the grips with no gloves on even set at 3.

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. To be honest, I'm not sure if mine heat while in Acc. Mode. I always turn them off just before shutting the bike down or right after shutting it down. I will also only turn them on when the bike is running so all the power is going to the starter to crank the bike over. If the dealer installed them, my guess is they used the same plugs I showed in the video. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍

      @@HDVIBE I just tore into the wiring. Apparently around '18 HD requires power to come from the Acc. plug under the right side cover along with an extra 3 wire harness goes under the tank to the plug. You have to splice another harness to the plug that goes directly to the battery. When the key is on there is power available in Acc or Ign. I'm gonna add a relay so it's only powered with the key set for Ign. BTW the heated grip plug is still there under the fairing. HD just thought lets make it harder and cost more.

      If you install the grips as I show in the video you do not need to remove the tank. Great video. The only thing I worry about, is the circuit protection on that harness you used. Heated grips will pull more amps than an accessory light circuit, which is supposedly what that harness is for. This may be the reason Harley tells us to purchase the harness with these heated grips. I’ve installed them the way you instructed and they work. But, I may go ahead and utilize the harness I purchased per the instructions just to be safe.

    • @HDVIBE

      Thanks for watching and commenting. It should be in there. If you have any other powered accessories that may have been hooked up previously, it could be being used...but if not, then it should be in there. I hope you find it. 👊✌️👍

    Is this the same procedure for a 14 Street Glide?

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks Mark for watching and commenting. The process is very similar, but the location of the connections is different. I also have a video on how to install heated grips on a batwing fairing bike. Go to the 2023 Street Glide ST Playlist or just go back a few weeks, and you will find the step by step video. Funny. Mine don't have a plug under the cluster for the power to the grip. Sure would been nice to see it

    • @RoadGlideAndy
      @RoadGlideAndy 4 месяца назад +1

      @@HDVIBE it's an ultra, I know yours is a special. According to Harley mine requires another harness, which I have. Just trying to figure out how to wire it in. The Harley instructions suck.

      @RoadGlideAndy Got it. Another viewer just mentioned he installed the harness on his Road Glide Ultra. I believe he mentioned it plugged in to a connection under the the left side cover.

    I tried to get the trimmer line through my 14 inch bars with no luck. Did you tape the ends of the grip to the trimmer wire and feed both through at the same time? I simply tried the trimmer line on its own but it keeps coiling and getting obstructed by the black harness already running through my bars. Any tips?

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  Год назад

      Mine were going through the stock bars and had no problem. I would suggest taping the connectors to the trimmer line a bit offset so you can get bend in between the connectors as it moves through the bars. I did put these grips on a friend's bike with some 14 inch bars and it was a bit more challenging. We actually used two lengths of trimmer line to feed the two connectors through even more offset. It was tricky but we got it through. Also make sure to use duck tape on the very end of the connector to the trimmer line to get a stronger bond so you can pull a bit harder without the tape slipping off. Hopefully these suggestions will help you out. If you are already a subscriber...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Good luck with the project and ride safe. 👊✌️👍

      Thx for the quick reply. I'm wondering if the trimmer line isn't strong enough.

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  Год назад

      That could be the case. I use some pretty thick line.

    • @pbarre79

      Ok I'll try to get some thicker line. The one I'm using is pretty flimsy and I wasn't sure they came in different strengths

    Just bought the roadglide 2022. Did you notice the fairing is crooked ??. The line beneathe the large navigation display slopes to the right and down. Checked all the other nee roadg"s. Same issue. Paid a lot of money for a bike with a crooked fairing!! Very irritated and not enjoying the experience.
