    A tip i found out is also make sure the dirty water tank is properly closed because even a tiny crack qnd suction is extremely low to non existent

    why didn't you remove the plastic area and cleaned it before putting in those screws? that area also helps with clogging the system. and a clean vac is a happy vac.

    I internally cringed and screamed when I saw him drill holes into it... You can just take the plate off and put it back in properly..

      It was on properly to begin with but not sealing tight enough to create suction. Stop being a girly man and cringing and screaming. Also, learn to spell “angry”.

    Nice repair. The design on those cleaners is poor. Good enough to sell it, and have it work a few times, then most people would replace it.

      I have had mine for 10 years. Works very well. The trick is to NOT follow the user guide. Nor, the words on the front "forward and reverse". Obviously you want to spray, then brush, then suck. That only works if you ONLY move slowly in reverse. Also, putting cleaner into the tank makes no sense, because the cleaner only has two seconds to cut dirt before being sucked up. I sprinkle dry detergent on the carpet, then use the machine to spray clear hot water on and scrub without sucking. (That is done by removing the upholstery bypass on the tank.) Then after a ten minute soak as I finish the area, another run with clear hot to wash out the soap and suck up the soup.
      Another slow run with brushes turned of to make it very dry. Compared to other machines, very good.

      the one I bought in about 2005 has worked flawlessly. I use it about once a year. I just got around to finally opening it to clean it out...yeah 14 years of not cleaning it, my bad.
      I have heard the newer model Hoover Steam-vac's are total junk now

  • @rtel123
    @rtel123 7 лет назад +3

    They don't tell you in the manual that you often have to clean the air filter screen near the spin control, because it clogs and denies the internal turbine that spins the brushes any input air, stopping the spin. The clear cover needs to come off to get at it. Wish they had designed the little screen to slide out without disassembly!

    My dad ran into the same suction problem, as he had a SteamVac my parents bought in 1999 and there was so much dirt, mud, and dog hair caked into the inlet that there was no suction. He went and spent over $200 on a new SteamVac, and all it took me was 3 screwdrivers, some chiseling and 15 minutes and it worked like brand new. Too bad he'd already bought the new cleaner.

    I am always amazed at what our steam cleaner comes up with. We have a Bissel pro heat that we use on our carpets. Its disgusting what is in the rugs. We vacuum sometimes twice a week and still the water you dump from the cleaner is brown or black in our family room. I think most of it is from walking barefoot in the house, foot oils and dirt... there you go!

    I have had this same steamvac since at least 2000, if not before. I have taken it apart several times. The suction hose I had to replace. The design flaw of it "folding open/shut" pinches the hoses. That front clear cover comes off for easier cleaning. Makes such a difference in how well it performs. Welp, gotta tackle some new problem. It sprays the water just fine but the vacuum suction is poor.

      Racheal Hart , there is two screws on the bottom of the machine. Take them out and just pop off the front. You clean it and put the rubber back on. Should work just fine.
      I can't imagine adding screws in that plastic.
      Good luck

    The cleaner that goes in those machines often costs a fortune. If you go to home depot you can get a gallon of zep brand pretty cheap and it works great. (Just what you need... a REASON to go to home depot!)

    The clear plastic cover where you put screws in has a hook on the bottom to keep it tight. You just didnt set the piece right. Then you put the top screw in.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  3 месяца назад

      Wrong. The seal under the plastic had shrunk. The screws were necessary to pull the plastic cover tight against the shrunken seal. Nice try arm chair quarterback.

    Hey Brad, baking soda will also help the carpet.
    BTW, I don't know what size camera you are using, but if you are using the smaller flip style or phone size cameras they are easy to attach to your hat so you can have both hands free when filming your hands working on stuff..

    Hey there, great video but what I’m trying to find is how to remove that front piece, the piece that you screwed into the steamer. I just bought one used and it’s so filthy but I only removed one screw and don’t see any other way to get that front section piece off. Any suggestions? I’m not sure how old this video is so you may or may not even see this question. Thanks!

    I have the F60056 and the solution doe snot pump out the extended hose anymore. Think there is a solution pump someplace. I do have one of the hoses kinked like yours. Very few parts are still available. Glad to see people fix stuff rather than throw it in the land fill.

  • @hector-lee-taylor
    @hector-lee-taylor 9 лет назад

    Interesting. When drilling holes like that, use the little bit first then the large bit will be centered.. Animals and human bare feet are the worst thing ever for carpets. All that people foot sweat really grabs the dirt and holds it tight. The dirt then wears against the fibers and weakens the structure.

    I just opened my Hoover up today to clean it out and check it over. It was a total mess of fuzz inside. I noticed the rubber gaskets in various places were dusty and dirty. I cleaned them off with compressed air..........."and then lubed the gaskets with a fine wipe of WD-40 to keep them pliable". Afterwards I started to wonder if the WD-40 was a good idea or not. Any thoughts on this????

      I know your joking, but the reality us, my wife can't do a lot of the things she used to. I've taken over the kitchen and anything else that requires standing or bending. So far she can keep the house clean in shirt bursts and do laundry. Besides surviving cancer after having a lung removed, she has degenerative disc disease that is making it harder and more painful to stand as time goes on.
