Hello Sweet Friend!! Thanks for watching and Welcome to my Channel, appreciate you so much. Yes, I will make the Santa out of matting board and styrofoam. Thanks for asking and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Hello Ms JoAnn where did you find that lovely bowl? I love fiesta type dishes. Please tell me where to find a set of those. These ornaments are so adorable.
Oh Joann I made Gobs ornament lol your recipe, iv been painting them very pretty, thank you for sharing I used to make them years ago in my younger years, kinda forgot so last year I think when you put your video out is when I got it, yes iv been working on ornaments, not Halloween lol, I don't do to much for Halloween, been trying to get some of my Christmas stuff don't, I'm ,64, yes I'm in Arizona n it took about 6 hours to dry I didn't start painting them till a week later they were good n dried, I did make them a bit thicker didn't want to take a chance one would break. Many Blessings to you n Hubby.
Hi Sweet Friend, You make my heart happy!! So happy that you've been making ornaments. It brings me so much joy when working on them knowing that when I give them to someone, it will put a smile on their face. Sending you Crafty Hugs!!
Sorry I was late…I was baking cookies! I’m watching your replay! You both make it so much fun! I was smiling from ear to ear when you didn’t know you were on! 😂Thank you
I agree with you. They make such a cute loving couple. I get a kick at JoAnn when she scolds him. Some people want you to think they so sweet and kind but they are not. JoAnn is not one of those people. Her laugh is infectious.
LOL!! Hello Sweet Friend, Some days we just can't get it together when filming a live, LOL!! Thanks for your love and support, appreciate you so much!!
I've been a "Doughhead" all my life. I've made hundreds of pounds of dough and have made tons of creations for gifts, sell them at craft sales. I'm a huge fan. I have always baked them at 180-200 degrees for 3-8 hours. In the wintertime when your house is cold it's really nice to have the stove on and it smells like something is baking. What may have caused the bubbling is perhaps if self-raising flour was used. In my experience you don't want to use that. I have used wheat flour to make a nice baked brown color and I've also colored my dough with powder tempera paint. When I was young I would use varnish to preserve them. Yes, it makes them last forever but polyurethane does make it yellow over time. I've used clear spray although they can crack over time and they need to stay away from moisture. I've had great success and failures with dough. I've also made the cinnamon and applesauce ornaments with cheap brands cinnamon and applesauce. They're neat too. I just made smaller ornaments. This craft style originated from Germany I understand. It's a very old craft form used when they made ornaments for their Christmas tree. I am now going to use the resin I think I should be able to find it at a decent price now. ---life long dough fan ❤
Hello Sweet Friend!! Thanks for your love and support, Appreciate you so much!! Thanks for the tips and yes, I would love to make some cinnamon and applesauce ornaments as well. Dollar Tree Plus sells a 2 part resin that sells for $5, bought some but have not used it, some say it works great, I will have to try it. Happy Crafting!!
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you!! YAY!! So glad you will be making some, your creations will be beautiful and you will love them. Happy Crafting!!
Hi, sweet JoAnn! Sorry I missed this live stream but am so excited for this tutorial! I have a craft fair coming up in November and this is right up my alley! And I'm so happy you'll be doing a tutorial on painting and resin sealing. Thanks for always having something fun and exciting to show/teach us! 💚
Hello Sweet Friend, Thanks for your love and support, appreciate you so much!! Yes, will be live again on Thursday to show you how easy it is to paint and seal these ornaments. They are great sellers at Craft Fairs.
Hi Jo Ann, I just found and bought the large Ginger bread cookie cutter at Micheals just 2 days ago. It comes in a set with 6 sizes. I got them at 40% off. Going to try them out today. Nov. 2023
Hello Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! Yes, I made the M/M Santa and I will be having a live tutorial and sharing the pattern very soon.
I made these 50 years ago . But.I did and would you believe weevil Scott into the ornaments but you’re using the resin and I haven’t seen you do this part yet, but I’m anxious to try it again.
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! I love making these ornaments, they bring me so much joy when I share them with others. I first started making them when I was a stay at home mom. I wanted to make gifts for my kids teachers and classmates but didn't have a lot of money to spend at the time and then this idea fell into my hands. Hope you get inspired to make some, sending you Crafty Hugs!!
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, Appreciate you so much!! Yes, I paint them first and then seal them with resin. I will have a live tutorial tomorrow evening at 7 PM CST. I will show how I paint and seal them.
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for your love and support, appreciate you so much!! The price varies depending on the size. The large Gingerbread Boy and Girl, I sell for $12 each without any problem.
I made salt dough ornaments for years. I stopped making them because they would get brittle and end up breaking from years of storage. I've never used resin but really interested in trying. What resin do you use or recommend?????? ❤❤❤😊
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! I use Envirotex Lite that I get at Hobby Lobby. The Dollar Tree Plus sells a set for $5, which I think is a great price but will have to try and see how well it works.
Hi Sweet Friend, Thank you for watching, appreciate you so much. They do not have any markings. I think the Santa was in a Wilton’s decorating kit and the Angel was a Hallmark buy. Crafters found some last year on EBay under vintage cookie cutters.
I’m loving this!! I’ve made salt dough ornaments and still have them after a few years! I have never tried resin , so I will have to try that! How thin are you rolling the dough? 1/4 or Less? And what kind of resin do you use? And do you dip the whole ornament into the resin? Thanks for sharing and I subscribed to your channel ❤️
Hello Sweet Friend and Welcome to my channel, appreciate you so much!! I roll them about 1/4 or less and I use Envirotex Lite High Gloss Finish from Michaels. I just hold them in one hand and spread the resin front and back and place them on wax paper. It takes 24 hours to dry. Sending you Crafty Hugs!!
Hello Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! Oh the memories you will make with your grandkids. I use Envirotex Lite to seal them with. I will have a live tutorial tomorrow evening at 7 PM CST. I will show how I paint and seal them with the resin.
Hi Sweet friend!! It could be the humidity where you live. That's the only thing I can think of. I have better luck with mine when I make them during the summer and place them outside to air dry.
Hello Sweet Friend, Yes, You can Mod Podge them, that will work, they just won't be as shiny or have that ceramic gloss look. Thanks for watching, appreciate you!!
Hi Sweet Friend, It all depends on the weather in your area. During the summer in my area, they take a couple of days to dry, I put mine outside to dry during the day. You will be able to tell they are dry when they have harden.
Hello Friend! Would you consider selling one of each of the Gingerbread boy and girl? I'm praying this year we might be able to celebrate Christmas...Love you both
Hello Sweet Friend, We are doing good, Thank You for asking. My Honeeito has a long road ahead of him to get back to 100 % but getting better each day, Thank God. Appreciate you so much and hope to be crafting for everyone soon.
Hello Sweet Friend, I have not been able to find it on line. I found a couple in the past on Ebay. I have found some at thrift shops as well. I don’t have an extra one but will let you know if I find one.
I enjoy watching the both of you, you get me laughing 😅😅😂❤❤ # replay Anna in the house with you. Question when I have to catch replay. Do I have to # replay on all my comments ? Been wondering bout that ❤❤ ty sweet friend friend
I'm kind of scared to use resin, but I'll try my Paper Glaze from Aleene's. Otherwise I use Fascoat from Faskolor. I've used it for years on my plastic ornaments. It's water based and non-toxic. So far it hasn't yellowed. Fingers crossed! Edit: On the other hand, I doubt it'll be as sturdy as with resin!
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for sharing, appreciate the tip. Epoxy Resin seals the ornaments and gives them a ceramic look. We appreciate you love and support!!
Hello Mercedes and Welcome, Sweet Friend, appreciate you so much!! I will show you on Thursday how I seal my ornaments to make them last. I seal my ornaments with Epoxy Resin. Sending you Crafty Hugs!!
Hi thanks my dear i will see you on thursday ,I am from Malta. I hadd been following you a year now and I enjoy seeing your videos , Thanks jo ann god bless
Hello Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much. These last forever if you seal them with resin. Happy Crafting and Happy Thanksgiving!!
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you!! I'm not sure, I've never used it before. I've been using epoxy resin for over 30 years. I will have to look in to it.
Hi JoAnn it’s been a while for me to see your videos which I love so much! I’ve missed you all I’ve been so busy with move and taking care of father in law. I truly can’t wait to try these 🥰♥️
Hello Sweet Friend, I have been thinking of you!! I saw the ornaments that you sent me several years ago and they put a big smile on my face. Erick got so busy and working out of town a lot, he was not able to film on a regular basis. He taught my hubby how to film RUclips lives so we could continue sharing craft ideas with everyone. We try to film twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday but sometimes life happens and we have to change the days to Wednesday or Friday. So glad to hear from you Sweet Friend, sending you Crafty Hugs!!

Beautiful workilove it
Thank you Sweet Friend!! These dough ornaments are so easy and fun to make and decorate.
Do the cookie cutters have any markings? Manufacturer, item #, anything? Tyvm
Hi Sweet Friend, Thank you for watching, appreciate you so much. They do not have any markings. I think the Santa was in a Wilton’s decorating kit and the Angel was a Hallmark buy. Crafters found some last year on EBay under vintage cookie cutters.
@@joannbarrandey TYVM. I love your work.❤️🤍💚
I love those. Could you use gallery glass to paint the ornaments?
I'm not sure what gallery glass is, but if it's paint, I think it will work.
Thank you, JoAnn!
Joanna how do you do it with the resin so it won't stick or drip from the clay? I tried it but they all got stuck to the rack.
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! When using resin I place my projects on wax paper. Resin will not stick to wax paper.
@@joannbarrandey thank you for the info!!
Hi sweet friend 😊 I've always wanted to do this with my grandkids. What kind of resin do you use? Tfs and God Bless you both❤😊
Hello Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! Oh the memories you will make with your grandkids. I use Envirotex Lite to seal them with. I will have a live tutorial tomorrow evening at 7 PM CST. I will show how I paint and seal them with the resin.
@@joannbarrandey thank you!
Can you make beads with that dough? Please let me know!!
Hi Sweet Friend, Yes, you can make beads with dough. You can make a hole using a toothpick. Happy Crafting!!
I've tried to make these but my texture don't seem to be right .don't know what iam doing wrong
Hi Sweet friend!! It could be the humidity where you live. That's the only thing I can think of. I have better luck with mine when I make them during the summer and place them outside to air dry.
Can you Mod Podge them after they dry? I've never used resin.
Hello Sweet Friend, Yes, You can Mod Podge them, that will work, they just won't be as shiny or have that ceramic gloss look. Thanks for watching, appreciate you!!
Do you flip the ornaments periodically to let both sides dry
Hi sweet Friend, Yes, I do flip them until they are dry.
How do you know it's ready as to how long to let it sit
Hi Sweet Friend, It all depends on the weather in your area. During the summer in my area, they take a couple of days to dry, I put mine outside to dry during the day. You will be able to tell they are dry when they have harden.
Hello Friend! Would you consider selling one of each of the Gingerbread boy and girl? I'm praying this year we might be able to celebrate Christmas...Love you both
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!! I will let everyone know when I have some ready to sell. Sending you Crafty Hugs!!
What is the name of the spray you used pls to seal the ornaments please?
Hi Sweet Friend, I use Rust-oleum Gloss Protective Enamel Spray Paint (Almond) from Walmart. I just give them one light spray, front and back.
Can I use this clay to make Christmas earrings?
Hello Sweet Friend, Yes, I think it will probably work.
Wh as t do I you paint them with to preservd them?
Hi Sweet Friend, I seal my ornaments with Epoxy Resin. Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!!
Joann how are you and your husband. Prayers for you both. Look forward to seeing you in the future. Happy Thanksgiving
Hello Sweet Friend, We are doing good, Thank You for asking. My Honeeito has a long road ahead of him to get back to 100 % but getting better each day, Thank God. Appreciate you so much and hope to be crafting for everyone soon.
Not had any luck finding the Santa cookie cutter. Have you ?
Hello Sweet Friend, I have not been able to find it on line. I found a couple in the past on Ebay. I have found some at thrift shops as well. I don’t have an extra one but will let you know if I find one.
Joan from New York loves watching you
Hello Sweet friend from New York!! Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!!
I have those same cookie cutters. I got them like 40 yrs ago at Walmart
Hi Sweet Friend, Lucky You, so glad you held on to them. They are my favorite!!
@@joannbarrandey I just wish I had the dancing Santa..no more on eBay..I didn’t see any
I enjoy watching the both of you, you get me laughing 😅😅😂❤❤ # replay Anna in the house with you.
Question when I have to catch replay. Do I have to # replay on all my comments ? Been wondering bout that ❤❤ ty sweet friend friend
Hi My Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching the #replay, appreciate you so much. Just use the #replay one time, that's fine. Sending you Crafty Hugs!!
can you make them with bread flour
No, it has to be all purpose flour
I'm kind of scared to use resin, but I'll try my Paper Glaze from Aleene's. Otherwise I use Fascoat from Faskolor. I've used it for years on my plastic ornaments. It's water based and non-toxic. So far it hasn't yellowed. Fingers crossed!
Edit: On the other hand, I doubt it'll be as sturdy as with resin!
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for sharing, appreciate the tip. Epoxy Resin seals the ornaments and gives them a ceramic look. We appreciate you love and support!!

Hi Sweet Friend from the Bahamas!! Thanks for watching, appreciate you so much!!
Can y'all use a tripod, the camera moving around can make viewers dizzy. But i enjoy listening....i just would love to watch too.
Hello Sweet Friend, Appreciate your comment. Some days are better than others. I apologize for any inconvenience. ❤️
How do you hang them
Hi Sweet Friend, I glue an ornament hanger to the back with super glue.
Dang it I missed your live. Anna in the house with you # replay. Sweet friend and honito
Is Cindy from Peeps Ya all coming?
LOL!! Good Guess, Sweet Friend!! You will just have to wait and see!!
Instead of resin can you use brite tone its safer alternative to epoxy
Hi Sweet Friend, Thanks for watching, appreciate you!! I'm not sure, I've never used it before. I've been using epoxy resin for over 30 years. I will have to look in to it.
Ok ... love watching your videos
Awww that touches my heart ♥️ glad you love the ornaments. Wonderful for Eric. You & your hubby did an awesome job together very enjoyable team💞 I look forward to catching up with all your videos and watching the new ones 😍Your all a beautiful family 🥰
❤ you two are the CUTEST COUPLE ❤
Thank You Sweet Friend, We appreciate you so much!!
You are using a liquid cup measure for flour, so it’s different from a regular cup measure!
You know, Sweet Friend, It really doesn't matter for me. LOL!! They always come out the same. Happy Crafting!!
Do spray both sides
Hi Sweet Friend, Yes, I spray paint both sides of my ornaments before I paint them.
