A good way to get a better impression of a paw print is by putting the clay on a piece of saran wrap or something similar then put it on the floor. Put one front paw in that while you lift the opposite front paw. This will put the weight of the dog on the one you are trying to print and you will get a much better print. Hope this makes sense to you.

After an evening doing technical art using Resin, I am thrilled to know I have loads of this air dry clay to use tomorrow. One’s home can usually have interesting things to use for making these or any other clay projects. I may use resin to drip down in the crevices I made. Acrylic Paints; endless, and safe craft ideas. Thanks for more inspiration!

These are great! Here’s a tip, I figured this out after getting annoyed when my pieces got out of shape when I peeled them off the work surface - use parchment or other baking type paper and just leave them be to dry. Also for sanding, a ceramic nail file works brilliantly. I wonder if a wet paintbrush might smooth the edges some while the clay is still soft…? I may have to try that myself!

What great inspiration Claire ! I've stamped onto dried clay and heat embossed which worked really well, but never into wet clay. I noticed you had bought the wooden rounds from the works, I bought some with the idea of making poured resin coasters, but as I'm fairly new to resin I'm afraid to start, do you have a video where you used them like that?
Heyyyy lovely .. so glad you got inspiration from this ... oh yes I got those wood rounds from Lothian Woodworks ... he cuts all my blanks for me. I have not used them yet but I have used others. I always paint them first to seal them 🤩🤩🤩 they work great but I've only done big pieces ... not made coasters x

These are all such lovely projects thanks for sharing your talent. Here is a little tip from a fellow clay worker. Put a thin piece of plastic wrap or bag over the clay before cutting it out and it will round out your edges beautifully without distorting the center design.
Great tip, thank you! Question- would it also be a good idea to put a parchment/wax paper down under it? It looks like they got distorted and stretched a little as she picked them off the glass also

I LOVE how you used everyday items to press into the clay to make each one unique! So clever! I might try this with some polymer clay. I like to bake my clay. I'm not keen on painting all the little spaces, but I love the idea of painting it all, them take the paint off the raised areas! ♥️🎄⛄❄️🦌

Wow. What a good idea. I love this method. They are very pretty. I used a butterfly stamp in the clay. It turned out nice. I just had to smooth the edges with a finger sander.

I usually smooth the edges of the dried piece with fine sand paper, nail files or fine files for the small circles. It's an extra step but looks good.
