    Quick note: I know since making this video that I missed a few obvious things by skipping ahead in places. Thing is, I was trying to keep the video a watchable length considering how small my channel is. Next time (as has been suggested to me) - I'll listen to all of it and edit out the fluff. Thanks to all who've watched so far, long live the mighty MUSE 🤘

      Haha yeah, you skipped the biggest improvement to Space Dementia, and I was like "Nnnnnnnnoooooooooo, you don't understandddddd"

    I felt the synths, modulations and reverbs where so much more obvious on this album... Love it!

      I thought that too, they just stand out that bit more and it makes such a difference!

    Also of note: the strings in multiple songs where you can now hear them aren’t samples. They recorded the string sections at Abbey Road during the original recording of the album; they just got buried/weren’t used in the original mix of the album.

      A few moments really sounded like Symphobia samples to me, perhaps that's a testament to the quality of samples nowadays.

      @@AaronCarrington Matt said they recorded a bunch of string sections for multiple songs at Abbey Road during the recording session for OoS, many of which were either buried or weren't used in the original mix. I don't think they'd use samples when they had actual string recordings from Abbey Road during their original recording sessions at their disposal.

    Your understanding of the differences in the songs is spot on bro. Clearly you know who MUSE is. Not a lot of people have ears like that. People are only noticing the big differences but not the very subtle ones😌. By the way, they re recorded a lot👌

      Thanks man, appreicate that! I've been a huge fan since Origin of Symmetry came out in 2001 and haven't looked back since 😁

    Did you miss the strings in Space Dementia ?

    • @AaronCarrington
      @AaronCarrington  3 года назад

      Late reply, sorry! I initally missed the strings because I skipped too early to keep the video shorter, I was worried that people wouldn't watch for that long! When I do these types of videos now, I film the whole album and then pick the best bits out during the edit 👍😁

    Actually nothing was re-recorded. Rich Coste who helped them produce the remix confirmed this on Twitter. Everything used was an original recording during the original recording sessions. Some takes were just not used, some were buried in the original.

      Aha, thanks for confirming that. Better to use what's left or hidden in the mix than to record new takes. The additional vocals in Micro Cuts for example, now make a lot more sense too.

    By skipping most of the songs you've missed out on a lot of the stuff reintroduced in the mix. The 2nd half of Space Dementia, the outro to Micro Cuts and the outro to Futurism are very different. Also Micro Cuts reintroduces the harpsichord, not an accordion.

      Thanks for the tip. I know I missed a lot but I was apprenehnsive about how long people would watch for being a small RUclipsr. Of course, I've heard it all multiple time now and there are some great moments I didn't talk about.

      @@AaronCarrington One thing you can try in the future (if you do any long reactions like this again) would be record yourself listening to the full album, and then cut out the sections that lull. I've never done it myself, but I've seen a few other youtubers do album reactions like that, and those videos usually aren't much longer than 30 minutes. All in all, though, I still enjoyed this video, so do whatever you feel is best!

    • @AaronCarrington
      @AaronCarrington  3 года назад

      Indeed it appears I did! Being a small RUclipsr I was just apprehensive as to the amount of time people would watch for. I guess next time I'll make a longer one 👌 Loving the new remix though, it's ace!

    I'm kinda disappointed with what sounds like production mistakes in Micro Cuts (chopped intro and an obvious vocal cut) and Feeling Good (a sudden dip in the voice's volume during the drum solo). The snare in Newborn is also really jarring and kinda feels like it overpowers a lot of other stuff.
    And with all those negatives out of the way, I've got to say, I love just about everything else. It really felt like hearing it for the first time again, and I'll certainly be listening to it more.

    • @AaronCarrington
      @AaronCarrington  3 года назад +1

      Hey man. I think there are always gonna be a couple of bits that sound a bit off with things like this and yeah, Micro Cuts missing intro was the biggy 😂 still, I'm sure the bigger bands like Muse have the power to re-upload stuff to Spotify. Overall though, it sounds ace. Makes the orginal version sound a lot more squeezed. Maybe I'll do a side by side video, hmmmm 🤔
