"Listen To The Rain" stirs my soul. I love a choir, and given the fact that Amy wrote and composed it when she was in high school choir, makes it all the more special. I adore the old demos and recordings. So ethereal and beautiful.
In my opinion, worthy of Nightwish epic status. Weirdly, and this might be controversial, I think Evanescence's unreleased material is some of their best. And tbh I can totally get why they wouldn't want to redo/recover it, considering the place these people were in when these tracks were made. I also like that they don't mind their oldest music being available and free.
I think there is a good reason for this, because the Origin demo album is very experimental, and the band tried many different things in the creative process. This kind of experimental elements are very popular among indie bands today (as of 2020s), so Evanescence’s old demo album has a very timeless sound. I do notice Evanescence’s studio albums have been toned down the experimental sounds, and they are aiming for a more radio-friendly, mainstream, commercial audiences, which is not a bad thing since the band has always been very unique.
Those 4 tracks can't be played individually. They all are part of something precious and perfect, almost 15 minutes of beautiful melodies. Love all the songs they have before the Fallen era, they where something unique and very melancholic.
Same here, when I first got my hands on the unreleased tracks it was 2005, I was 17. This song, Exodus and Missing were really powerful for me in that place in my life. I had moved out of my parents just beforehand, and being on my own in high school hit different, even though i already had been working and going to school. 2 part-time jobs in addition to the internship I had with the local Sheriff's office through an Apprenticeship Program my school offered. These tracks helped me through a tough time for sure. Exodus hits like a brick.
Im kinda confused. As a teen, my pirate version of the album had this way the tracks (listen to the rain as a hidden track in Eternal) but other versions of eternal doesnt have it, it was fan made or what?
@@ktimewarpk There's a shorter 3 minute version of Eternal, and I Believe that makes sense. OK so on standard editions of the album the last track is Eternal at 7 minutes. Now on some early versions of the album, Listen To The Rain and Demise were on it, so I'm assuming on those versions of the album it's likely they have the shorter 3 minute version instead. It's probably not true, but just a theory.
I still think Eternal is one of the best songs they’ve ever made. It’s so quintessential Evanescence but so different at the same time.

I agree 100%
Might be because I listened to all this stuff as a child but the old origin/ep/demo stuff is their best
I love Evanescence no matter what they do. But I wish that they stuck on to their more darker and gothic stuff.

Did we just become best friends?!
You are completely right. Their best work to date.
I love how this all fits together
Imagine playing this now live, Evanescence would hit the hearts of every fan on that planet!
Away From Me is criminally underrated and fits their more industrial moments that are present now
@@ego4061 Amy will deny anything pre fallen to prove that she moved on... their last album is a disaster.
@@TheHulkminator Ben Moody and David Hodges have the "rights" of preFallen stuff.
It's crazy how I still remember the lyrics to this day. Amy Lee's done a number on my brain.
I didn’t realize before coming across this video how well “Listen To The Rain” fits in here.
this is the Evanescence music I love with all my heart
The most important music, now accessible for everyone... thank you
