    So much work went into this! Pure dedication man! I also had the RCV boot issue. I lost hope on their boots so I bought all kinds of Toyota boots and tried what fit. To my surprise, the LC200 inner boot fits perfectly on the RCV inner. The 2nd gen Tundra INNER boot fits perfectly on the RCV outer (LC200 outer boot doesn't). Been running these for over a months. I'll see how long mine last!

      Dude!!! Thanks for watching the partial rant 😂. That advice is genius!!!! Going to pull my axles again (my outer tore again since the vid). Will definitely try the boots you recommended next week.

      @@SandyCats Wow I guess the RCLT operates the CVs at much higher angle to wear them out this fast. Your axle definitely see a lot more load than mine but that shouldn't contribute to boot wear. You'll be doing an accelerated wear test for these Toyota boots lol. Btw, the small ends of the boots fit perfectly on the RCV shaft, but you need to force it over the splined ends. I heat gun the boot a bit then hammer it on using a piece of steel tube. The RCV boots are stretchy that's how they go over the splined ends. And maybe this is why they don't last.

    Just curious if you could give some insight into any fender trimming you had to do up front with 37's, looking at a similar setup and curious what is in store there. Appreciate it and thanks for the videos.

    Great honest and thorough review. I’ve been considering the RCLT kit since before they went live but wanted to see how others experience was with them. I have the total chaos +2 long travel now and I’m thinking either upgrading to RCLT or alternatively just upgrading the long travel to the expedition series for 2inch greater ground clearance. The RCV axle issues gives me a lot of pause. I’ve had CVJ axles for 3 years and boots have held up. Was wondering what you know are the steering issues if I upgrade to a LC rack without the RCLT kit.

    • @SandyCats
      @SandyCats  7 месяцев назад +1

      I can’t say from first hand experience… but I know people the upgraded to LT and installed upgraded racks. So far everyone seams to have issues over time. Either with seals on the racks and/or poor steering. I feel that if I would upgrade the rack… I’d only do it with RCLT for now as the geometry is the most thought out. FYI… I now have CVJ in my RCLT kit.

      @@SandyCatsawesome. Look forward to hearing any updates on the CVJ with RCLT. I’ve been very happy with them since 2020. No issues whatsoever with my TC long travel with 35inch tires. I know the RCLT is a whole other beast. I wonder about the differential holding up with the added stress. Have you heard any issues from others with RCLT?
      Appreciate your perspective and love the build all the way around.

    I was considering running the RCTL long travel on the 2022 4runner. Right now I have fox DSC with a 3 inch lift. And SPC upper control arms which are going out after 12,000 miles. I see you’re running a lot of different Suspensions What upper control arms have you found that are last with little maintenance.

    • @SandyCats
      @SandyCats  9 месяцев назад +2

      On my other rigs I run SPC uppers. Replace ball joints every 15K. Consider them a wearable item. Total Chaos would be the most bulletproof for direct replacement. Just need to spray uppers every thousand off-road miles or so. Dobinsons I hear are good but never tested them. I prefer SPC for adjustability though. RCLT would be most bulletproof 😂

    Do you think the dirt king would be a better choise for someone who doesnt plan on wheeling as hard?

    • @SandyCats
      @SandyCats  9 месяцев назад

      Dirt king makes great arms. Id say I’d your sticking to 34” tires or smaller…. Dirt king would be perfect. 35” or taller…. You’d want to upgrade the rack.

    • @WhyitJellyDonut

      @SandyCats My plan was to get the 255/85R17's that TinkerersAdventure showed in his tire video which is 34.6in

      @SandyCats  9 месяцев назад

      @@WhyitJellyDonut yup… as long as you don’t put too much stress on the rack when wheeling… that would work!

    How about you switch to portals? 74Weld making portals to 5th gen 4Runner but it’s like $20,000. I want one for my 2021 but no budget yet so I’m still on budget 3” Eibach kit with 33’s tires..

    • @SandyCats
      @SandyCats  6 месяцев назад

      @@someguy8498 I’ll agree with that! Problem is you still need RCLT and portals… (as portals don’t give you more than stock travel and keep the weak stock rack). Once you do that… going to have to go bigger tires and my build becomes a crawler instead of an overlander. If I ever replace this rig with another Overlander…. Than 💯 portals and 40s

    Don't get me wrong when I say this because I have a 4R myself. The 4R is a horrible vehicle choice to build up to run 35s or bigger and wheel the shit out of. IFS isn't great, way too expensive to build off a factory setup, and very limited in travel. If you're going this deep into it, just do a freaking live axle with long arms in the front. If you've never driven something with a live axle and tons of front flex you should try it. Afterwards, you'll be saying WTF was I thinking dumping all that money into an IFS.

    • @SandyCats
      @SandyCats  9 месяцев назад +2

      I have a JK on 40s with Dana 60. She’s a trailer queen now…. I 💯 agree.. 4R is horrible for building up and wheeling the shit out of! I prefer IFS for a rig I can drive comfy on road and off-road. Super long trips without the limitations of medium-hard trails. But I definitely prefer solid axles for hardcore off-road.
