Awesome job featuring the Undervolt! It's crucial for these 13th gen Intel parts (atleast the HX ones that can). Good job mentioning that its basically a no brainer mandatory tuning that everyone that owns a new Asus should do @2:40. Allegedly Asus now has a new bios that increased the limit of the undervolt from the underwhelming max of -030 MV to a more substantial -080 MV. That should make a much bigger difference and really help with temps and performance. Ps- If you want to get high tier benchmarks and (much) better gaming performance, it's advisable to do a Gpu Undervolt as well. It's a bit more involved a process, but the rewards are enormous, especially on a laptop where otherwise Power Limit throttling is the biggest roadblock.
@@ahsoka6807 Reduces CPU and GPU temperatures, improves performance. Stability whilst undervolting is important though. Too large of a UV can cause the system to crash or even brick so requires time to get right.
@@aviomix1560 Yeh ouch. I'm sure that is just a Kink though. Asus clearly intends for the up to -080 mv to be doable via the bios, might just take a fix or a new bios to get it working properly. @@slickrounder6045 I just updated the bios. It's only 30. Where did you get the 80 from? And did it work for you ? Also, the cpu temps are terrible with the scar unfortunately. I don't know why since the razor, which is much thinner has better temperatures.

The best 4090 laptop for the money has to be the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. i9 13900HX, 32GB DDR5 5600mhz, 2TB Gen4, Vapor Chamber, 99.9wh battery, 16 inch QHD + X-Rite Calibrated, 4 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A + 2 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (1 is Thunderbolt 4). Thinner (21.9mm) & lighter (2.8kg) than most 4090 laptops with 175 TDP. Best of all I got it in Indonesia for about Rp 60,000,000 (vs competitors at Rp 80,000,000 - 90,000,000 marks). Convert it on your own.
Is it even safe for a CPU to be at almost 100C for hours straight (playing dead space or warzone for example)? Mind you the fans are locked at 100% the whole time, and still these are the temps... I am really looking into buying either this or GT77, but the heat seems to be a showstopper still, no matter how they advertise their omega-giga-turbo-ultra new cooling systems.
Up to 99C is within rated specs from Intel for safe temperatures. I have no evidence to believe it is a terrible thing or will break your CPU quickly, unless it is severely hampering performance, like causing stuttering. I do prefer to keep my CPU tempes in the 80-90 range if possible, which you could do by power limiting the CPU if you want in Armory crate. Up to you.
Just can't get over the price. I'm in a weird spot now because my desktop needs an upgrade/overhaul and I'm in the market for a gaming laptop because how frequent I travel and work. I have a business laptop for my work so this would be a personal purchase but I'm leaning towards a complete overhaul on the desktop for this price lol.

Is it okay to undervolt and overclock the scar 18? Does it somehow increase its performance compared to one that has not been undervolted and overclocked?

What I find very interesting is that you have been having the opposite results as Jarrods tech In his results and his reports, his ASUS that he had was getting higher FPS and overall did better than the MSI. But you are having better results with the other side over the ASUS The end of the day I would prefer the Asus because of the quality control
Hi, I have been waching your videos for the past days and I am wandering if anyone tried to charge the laptop via the Thunderbolt 4 with a NON ASUS charger that deliver 100W ... like Anker or Ungreen. The 330W brick is heavy and I can't find an original charger.
Maybe a dumb question, but will an 18" have better cooling/thermals and less fan noise than a 16" of similar wattage? Digging the bigger laptop displays, but it also seems like mini LED displays will be better for multimedia use and are worth the smaller screen size if not available in 18"?
I have problem with this laptop. When i start it a can do whatever i want and dGPU is in slep mode (STANDARD MUX - default). But when i enter game and exit game, the dGPU never go back to sleep mode and is always active with 210 - 440 MHz clock speed and sometimes it boost up to 2040 MHz. Normaly in idle thermals are like 38 - 45° C while webrowsing and watching RUclips, but with dGPU ON the thermals never goes under 60°C. I tried everything but nothing works except restart notebook, that fix the problem and dGPU is in sleep mode again. Its very annoying.
Can you turn it off in armory crate or with Nvidia Control panel? It is probably some application that is using the dedicated gpu like, Chrome or something.
The MSI GT77 will be the best.. it has better hardware and screen. However it is also 5200 bucks. The raider would be a close second at 3999 usd then I would put the scar 18 at third (3899) However the coil whine complaints in the scar is a bit of a concern.
@@Aerospatial yeah the Asus is nice. I am between the Raider and the GT77. I really like the 4k screen on the GT but the Raider is so nostalgic with the keyboard and is overall a good looking machine.
