Thank you very much for this video. Got my first tattoo yesterday and my artists instructions weren't very clear. This made me alot more confident in taking care of my tattoo
Amazing video!! Thank you so much for such a detailed video. I have 7 tattoos and the shortest healing was 2 weeks. I have a new leg tattoo that I got on June 27th and it still hasn't fully healed. It's slowly starting to peel. So I wish all tattoos fully healed at 2 weeks.
I a mom and a nurse the forensic psychiatry so having names on my body isn't a good idea. Luckily there are flower that have the same as my children. So I'm getting these flowers on my inner forearms with their birthdays in them
dude this is insane! I just made my first ever tattoo appointment yesterday and all thats popped up has been tattoo videos. im getting it done for my birthday and its a huge forearm black and gray floral piece.
Getting my first in a few days from now, it’s going to be a back piece on the left side of my back. I’m watching this religiously so it’ll heal correctly
I didn’t use antibacterial soap or the lotion for any of my tattoos. I kept applying Neosporin A+D ointment about once every other day. The last 3 I got recently I used the Aquaphor about once every 2-3 days. And I kept it dry. When I showered, I made sure that I didn’t get it wet. And the most important healing tip: slap the tattoo when it starts to itch. That helped so much instead of scratching it and introducing bacteria to the area. Oh and one more tip: do not expose the tattoo to sunlight until about a month or so after you get it. If you do, place a very thin layer of SPF sunscreen on it to keep it from fading. About 2-3 months after you get the tattoo, put a thin layer of cocoa butter on all of your tattoos after you shower to also keep them from fading and stretching the skin. And don’t go swimming until it completely heals(about two months, not two weeks)!! That’s how I took care of the 12 tatts I currently have. Thank you 😊
That sounds beautiful Rick! Good luck! Be sure to check out the newer videos on the channel as well. They will help you take care of your new tattoo and keeping it looking awesome :)
Thanks for the info !! I was getting worry about my tattoo since the itching is crazy and the tatoo looks a lil bit weird !! But glad to know its all normal 1 more week till fully healed!

It is weird leaving a comment on a 2 year old video. Thanks for all the info, this will be my first tattoo and I am going to go with the beginning of my sleeve. I am going to start with a shoulder cover piece of armor, that has chain mail under it. It will eventually grow from there, but that is where I am going to start.
Absolutely not! Everyone always comments on these videos lol. That’s awesome btw about your sleeve. I have a bunch of tattoo related videos on this channel you should check out
Hey mike, got my horror sleeve started yesterday and I'm super happy with it so far. My artists actually has me on the initial bandage for 24 hours, then I take it off, wash it and apply another bandage that remains on the new tattoo for 5 days. I watched all your videos prior to getting this done, so it seems kind of weird to me. What are your thoughts? Thanks man, hope you are having fun on the water.
@@EvolveINK You're welcome. I've already watched some of your videos related to tattoos and every single one of them is just awesome. In fact you are awesome in general. I really like you and your channel
@@civic2980 the artist who did your tattoo should have told you that, the reason you were tired after having your tattoo done is because of the adrenaline rush during the tattoo session, and when it's over you feel as though you've got flu like symptoms, its perfectly normal

Hey random question, how long do I have to wait after a tattoo to start working out again? Strength training/ weights callastandics Its been 12 days so far since Ive been tattooed and I havent workout out for 12 days. Now I'm feeling a little weak. But ive been told it takes 2 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal, so is it safe to start working out today or should i just wait 2 more days?
Hey! So I would recommend healing it the new and easier way I came up with! Check out this video here and good luck! ruclips.net/video/FNpJ1N0zmKw/видео.html
Thanks for these videos! I have watched 4 so far and am loving them. I have a couple of quick questions about a new tattoo. If your artist does not cover the tattoo when finished, should I cover it myself when I get home for some period of time? Also, if the tat is uncovered, what do you do about your clothes being against it? Like in the winter, the sleeve of my shirt covers/rubs over a new tattoo on my forearm. Is that a problem while it is flaking/peeling? Thanks!
So to me, if a artist does not cover up a tattoo after they are done, that’s a red flag. A professional tattoo artist should always cover their clients fresh tattoo. And to answer your other question, yes if clothing rubs up against your tattoo while it’s peeling it can affect the look of it. I recommend you checking out this playlist on how to heal your tattoo from fresh to perfectly healed! ruclips.net/p/PLs6mFu1fjntMU_P30tecjMJb0bg83zYuh
@@EvolveINK Thanks! I appreciate the input. I will definitely watch the healing playlist. Also, do you have a specific suggestion for covering when wearing long sleeves? I've read plastic wrap but that seems like a bad idea.
Got my first tattoo 2 days ago half a sleeve at 18 now it’s starting to itch and feel quite heavy feels like I’m wearing cling film but I’m not , but I’m following the rules by washing it and drying it and applying moisturiser my artist gave me
Getting my first tattoo next week. An angel wing on my forearm memorializing my buddy that died in a car wreck. Time to see what this actually feels like lmao
I got my first tattoo 4 days ago it's a red rose on my wrist. My artist recommended I use Vaseline i watched a few videos and most artist say to use cocoa butter , aquaphor etc. Should I stop using Vaseline and use aquaphor?
ManlyManTv hoping next month, I’m currently looking for a new tattoo artist due to the fact my last one didn’t do a good job on my first tattoo, I’m in no rush
I didn’t start getting ink til July 2019, but first my artist placed Saniderm wrap- but it’s thicker and less flexible. Then this year the artist used Recovery Derm Shield, which is way more flexible and easier to remove- I’d keep the first wrap on for 4 days, take it off in the shower, use Dr. Bronner’s Castile Unscented Soap, then add a new set of wrap for 3 days. I’ve never once had any bruising, scabbing, itching, peeling, and it feels like what would’ve taken 4-6 weeks only took 1 week. Maybe this wraps are relatively newer? I highly recommend though! Also use Tattoo goo/Aquaphor for aftercare
@@EvolveINK definitely try Recovery Derm Shield over Saniderm. Saniderm is more rigid and actually left an outline mark on my skin for months. Recovery Derm Shield is much lighter, flexible and easier to peel off in the shower. Just clean with soap before (I use Dr. Bronner's unscented castile soap), no moisturizer/aftercare product before the wrap otherwise it won't stick.
What are your thoughts on using cera ve healing ointment (dark blue jar) for after care and then switching over to cera ve moisturizing cream afterwards?
I just got my first tattoo yesterday😁 I wanted to get a small one before I got my bigger ones. I got a palm tree 🌴 on my Upper rib cage🙃😋 a lot of people say it hurt and one of the worst spots to get a tattoo but it honestly was a 3 out of 10. Thanks for the information on the aftercare❤️
I'm on day 4 of my first tattoo (3 little cats on my inner ankle). Once I begin the lotion after the soap, do I still put the Aquaphor on first, before the lotion? Or is it wash and then lotion, with no more Aquaphor? Thanks for the videos!
Once you switch over to the lotion, I don’t use the aquaphor anymore. I actually made a more detailed series where I take you through the whole process on how I healed my most recent tattoo! Check it out! ruclips.net/p/PLs6mFu1fjntMU_P30tecjMJb0bg83zYuh
I got a tattoo on my inner forearm about 6 days ago, its a lotus flower with the words Still I Rise underneath it and it was my very first tattoo, I honestly don't know if I'm taking care of it right because so many people are telling me different things and it's stressing me out but I really trust that you know what you're saying so im going to try to do what you say lol
My tattoo artist told me to keep the saniderm she put on for 24 hours, take it off, clean it and put on the second skin and leave it on for 4-5 days. After that, I can use healing oitment or lotion. A lot of people keep saying clean it everyday or put something on it. Mixed opinions and everyone does it differently I suppose. But I think the best thing you should do is listen to your artist.
Everyone has different ways to heal a tattoo. The way I do is based off the body anatomy. But yes I always would recommend listening to your artist and do what they say.
Back tattoos are very hard to take care of if they are big. Only thing you can really do is find a friend or family member that can clean and apply the proper products to the areas you can’t reach
Everyone should use the aftercare the tattoo artist they go to gives them. No one should use vaseline or A&D, that shit clogs your pores and your tattoo can’t breathe. Just straight non scented lotion or coconut oil. Coconut oil works fantastic by the way.
How can you tell when a tattoo is healed or when you should move to lotion? I plan on getting either Nordic runes or yggdrassil cause I've got strong heritage to it and I've been fascinated with mythology for decades
Hey! So when you start seeing your skin start to feel tight that’s typically when you should switch to the lotion. I’d recommend you checking out this playlist here. I got into detail with everything. ruclips.net/p/PLs6mFu1fjntMU_P30tecjMJb0bg83zYuh
Kinging Kerr I wouldn’t force it off. After washing it a few times it should go away. I will be doing a live stream tonight on my channel about the tattoo healing process if you would like to join!
I got a cross with flowers with my grandma name and a flower she draw years ago in it and on the 24th I’m getting a lion on my shoulder he said should take 3 to 4 hrs
@Doug Droen it just means that you wash your tattoo to 2 to 3 times a day to make sure it's clean but you don't use any products to moisten it or keep it moist. It just dries and then that's a natural process
How many times a day should I use the first product. Like the one before lotion. I have the a and d stuff but not sure how many times to use it a day. Only used it once so far and I got my tattoo like 6 hrs ago
I am new to this channel by the way I just got a tatts about 6 days ago and I have been using the antibacterial cream but knowing that the tattoo is itchy and pealing I was just wondering if I still have to used the cream or a normal lotion??
Kinda late on this, but I'm getting one tomorrow and I'm just nervous on the healing process. So when your done washing your tattoo with the soap and all that do you wrap it again and keep doing that same process until it's healed? Can I get more information?
@@EvolveINK so we don't cover it at all? I got a lot of questions, this video helped me a lot but I need more information on what to do after you clean it you know? Thank you though! I'll definitely stay tuned for this series!
How do you apply cream while peeling tho. Since you don't want to peel the skin yourself, when you rub the cream, automatically the skin rips. How do you avoid that??
When it’s peeling all you should be doing is washing and using lotion. When doing this while the tattoo is peeling, it’s normal for some skin flakes to fall off. Whenever the tattoo looks dry just apply a small amount and rub gently
Hey, I'm sensitive to a lot of lotions even the unscented ones. Can I just use aquaphor than switch over at the 3-4 day mark to coconut oil? I hear a lot of people just using coconut oil to heal their tattoos?
@@EvolveINK The man told me to keep the bandage thingy on for two days is that normal? I just have to add this special cream for 2 or 3 days after I take it off.
@@EvolveINK actually to keep it on until tomorrow so I’ll take it off tomorrow morning in the morning and apply the cream 4 times a day like he said. Have to do that for 3 days.

Hustle Butter has been great for me when healing.
Love hustle butter! Always a great product
But yes I always would recommend listening to your artist and do what they say.
any tips on taking care of it by myself of i get a big one on my back? hoping to get one in the summer
Back tattoos are very hard to take care of if they are big. Only thing you can really do is find a friend or family member that can clean and apply the proper products to the areas you can’t reach
@@EvolveINK alright, thanks for the advice man!
No problem! I hope I helped ya out
Heard its best to leave wrap on about 2-3 days then let dry for 2 more days before ever using cream.
Everyone has different methods of healing. But you gotta remember that it’s your skin that is doing the healing. Moisturized skin heals better
Everyone should use the aftercare the tattoo artist they go to gives them. No one should use vaseline or A&D, that shit clogs your pores and your tattoo can’t breathe. Just straight non scented lotion or coconut oil. Coconut oil works fantastic by the way.
Ranch works good too
Juan Torres lotta ranch
Do you need to use the anti bacterial soap ever time before you put on the lotion/aquafor?
Yep! I go into detail here on how to heal a tattoo! ruclips.net/p/PLs6mFu1fjntMU_P30tecjMJb0bg83zYuh
@@EvolveINK thanks!
Can u use Aquaphor after the first week, or even after the tattoo is fully healed? I know when I uses it, it makes my tattoo looks more appealing
Great vid. One question . Just got the tatt washed it but dried blood remained when I was cleaning it . What should I do? Don’t force it off?
Kinging Kerr I wouldn’t force it off. After washing it a few times it should go away. I will be doing a live stream tonight on my channel about the tattoo healing process if you would like to join!
ManlyManTv just subscribed..with notifs on😁
Kinging Kerr thanks! Hope to see you there 👍🏻
I do tattoo on shoulder. when I can go for workout (gym)?
You should go right after it is healed due to other people’s germs on workout equipment.
Is sweating okay right after the tattoo
Love ur vid here
Thanks Amanda! You’re watching a lot of my older videos lol be sure to check out my newer vids too! They are all much better 😂
Getting my first tomorrow - a spider.
I got a cross with flowers with my grandma name and a flower she draw years ago in it and on the 24th I’m getting a lion on my shoulder he said should take 3 to 4 hrs
you said to add more moisturiser every the tattoo looks dry should i wash the tattoo before each time i do it ?
Brown above my left albow an Pride above my right
Nice!
Got my tat 4 days ago. And a part of is peeling and a small part almos looks gone.
It might look like that just while it’s peeling during the healing process. If not you can always get your tattoo touched up.
What would happen if I just don’t put any products on it and let it heal alone?
Just out of curiosity, what other tattoo peeling cream can you use?
I dry heal all my tattoos. They come out perfect 😉
What's that mean
@Doug Droen it just means that you wash your tattoo to 2 to 3 times a day to make sure it's clean but you don't use any products to moisten it or keep it moist. It just dries and then that's a natural process
How many times a day should I use the first product. Like the one before lotion. I have the a and d stuff but not sure how many times to use it a day. Only used it once so far and I got my tattoo like 6 hrs ago
I use it about 2-3 times a day. A thin layer. Nothing too crazy.
I am new to this channel by the way I just got a tatts about 6 days ago and I have been using the antibacterial cream but knowing that the tattoo is itchy and pealing I was just wondering if I still have to used the cream or a normal lotion??
I got a belly hip tattoo I washed it and put nothing on it at all.
2nd day a very thin layer of coco butter.
3rd day I may wash it again.
That sounds about right. Just keep it moisturized
Coco butter is okay?
After my tattoo is completely healed, can I shower with any kind of body wash I want? I got my tattoo a month ago.
Absolutely! Once the tattoo is fully healed you can take normal showers again lol
Kinda late on this, but I'm getting one tomorrow and I'm just nervous on the healing process. So when your done washing your tattoo with the soap and all that do you wrap it again and keep doing that same process until it's healed? Can I get more information?
Nope, never re wrap it! I talk more about it in this series
@@EvolveINK so we don't cover it at all? I got a lot of questions, this video helped me a lot but I need more information on what to do after you clean it you know? Thank you though! I'll definitely stay tuned for this series!

Im wanna get “Oh yes I can” written on the side of either my middle or ring finger of my left hand. Cant decide which finger to go with.
Plan on getting my first tattoo after I get paid it's a thigh tattoo
Nice! What do you plan on getting?
@@EvolveINK I did a drawing myself my initials with my full name going across in cursive, with my birthday underneath it
How do you apply cream while peeling tho.
Hope that helped🤜🏻
For the aquaphor did you use the regular healing ointment or the baby healing ointment???
Regular healing ointment lol
What do you think of using aloe vera on the tattoo?
I personally wouldn’t recommend it: there is a lot of healing properties in healing ointments like aquaphor that is beneficial to the tattoo
Getting a Ankh + Eye of Horus tattoo (upgrade to my old scarab tattoo).
Dude that sounds awesome! When are you getting it?
@@EvolveINK On my back; left shoulder area :)
Rahm Menon nice! Gonna get anymore?
TBH not sure at this time.
One day at a time :)
Hey, I'm sensitive to a lot of lotions even the unscented ones. Can I just use aquaphor than switch over at the 3-4 day mark to coconut oil? I hear a lot of people just using coconut oil to heal their tattoos?
When can I put sunscreen on my tattoo?
Getting a forearm tattoo a lettered one in a few hours
Good luck!
