Can anyone tell me what the different foods are please(English ) It looks good but apart from the noodles I don't know what the rest is.
Hi, salan3. I am a Malaysian (this place is in Malaysia). The different foods are:
1) Beehoon, the thinner noodles. Rice vermicelli.
2) Mee, the thicker, yellow noodles. Alkali flour-based noodles.
3) Both fried with taugeh (bean sprouts) and flavoured with dark soy sauce and soy sauce. Served with special chilli sauce or pickled green chillies. Garnished with fried sweet beancurd strips.
4) The crinkly meat roll is called lor bak. Unique flavour of five spices and beancurd sheet for the skin.
5) The other is springroll with a local turnip called bangkuang for its filling.
6) The two soups are dessert soups - red bean (the dark one) and peanut.
7) Finally, looks like lard pieces being fried. It's interesting, though, that it's first fried in big pieces and then cut into smaller pieces for a second fry - I've personally not seen this done before. Fried lard is a local favourite to eat with noodles. The oil is usually used to fry noodles to give umami flavour.
😊 Hope this helps. These are local favourites for breakfast or tea. There is a skill in frying the noodles and they taste flavourful though there are no other ingredients than the bean sprouts.
Nk chichen no prawn no squid.. No egg.. I wonder how the taste is
😂The power of msg😂
Honestly it doesn't taste half bad all things considered, it's flavour mostly comes from the soy sauce used to stir fry it, while the chilli paste on the side is typically sour in taste. It's a local dish that's typically eaten to fill up, thus the lack of other ingredients, but considering it's low price, I'd say it deserves a 5/10, nothing amazing but acceptable regardless
