    I pass by this CKT almost everyday for the pass 10-15 years but I don't buy the CKT from them. To me this is not char koay teow. It is expensive version of economy fried koay teow.

      Looks too oily and first time see pre-cooked CKT... during his father time also using this pre-cooked skill?

    • @manalittlesis
      @manalittlesis 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@ultimatewarrior4630 I didn't notice who's cooking the CKT on my last visit but yes I stop buying from there because they pre-cook the koay teow. Actually there's a few stalls making pre-cook CKT.

      I do agree with you bro. I m staying just a few doors away from this stall. To me nothing special. Just an ordinary ckt. Very small portion and too expensive

  • @grasshopper5087

    Authentic and good CKT should only be fried one plate at a time. And absolutely no pre frying. Poor hygiene. Won't eat at such places.

    This one is very very bad, local never go anymore ,only can chop tourists. You can easily find 90% of Char Koay Teow stalls in Penang which are better then this one.

    • @leanmeanhungry
      @leanmeanhungry 10 месяцев назад +2

      Agree. Neutral point. Hawker pre cooked a portion of flat noodles...leave at sides. If you come order, refried again. Cold hot cold. You can feel being cheated when eat there. We as a group ate cold fried char kway teow here. X go

  • @Umikira1

    I am a senior penangnite and truly I will not recommend this stall. The son's frying is not as good as the father and furthermore the ckt tasted like an amateur learning how to fry. He has no skill at all !!!. It is not a condemning statement, in fact it is true. If his father fries, it will be a different scenario.

    • @leenamyon1720
      @leenamyon1720 Месяц назад

      I agree that his skill is not up to standard. See how he cracks the egg, and still cannot break it; he has to do two times cracking the egg. This has been repeated twice. Furthermore, the wok is no more smooth. He should change it to the black thick wok. Another thing. Why must they use charcoal. Gas is so readily available.

    I was there in dec ‘23 and tried his stall. Worst Koay Teow I ever had in my life. Tiny portions and super saltish. Even the stalls at a food court tasted so much better. Food on Penang Island is over rated with all the crazy long queues, go Ipoh instead if you want really delicious food.

    • @Leong-m5f

      Yup! from the way he is frying, it like fast food. A piece here and a piece there. Those good hawkers where got fried hor fun first, then prawn etc. Everything is straight from the wok to the serving plate not like jigsaw puzzle 2 pc fish cake, 2 prawn, etc.

    No wonder my wife and I got food poisoning in Penang. Their hygiene standards leave a hell of a lot to be desired ! They don’t care a fig '. Ambient temperatures would be at least 30 degrees C so you can imagine the festering bacteria in those precooked dishes stacked on top of each other ! They obviously don’t eat their own preparations … take care people …

    I know this place, I live in Penang. We eat like this since we were kids, and I am 41 years old now. No problem if they put plate on another plate with food. But don't eat when the food handler changes money and did not wash hands and touching the food again. Same when if you see the preparation of food on the street floor. Any other than this, you may enjoy the food

    Staged for social media points, boo, boo you guys. Tables too clean and perfect, unrealistic for the area, oil too new. Realistically, oil can almost forever be used for street food, but it looks like was only used maybe once here. You can reuse of course, but you need a filter, not just gravity and fresh looking oil. Nice sound effects, but they dont always match the video.

      Yup gotta agree with the others in the comment section, not sure if you're still planning on a visit but as a local I wouldn't recommend any of the hawker stalls around that area if you want an authentic taste of the local cuisine. In fact, if we're talking strictly good tasting food, I'd recommend some of the cafes or restaurant bars around the area, it's pricier and it's not local food by any means but at least it'll taste good.
      Now if you're willing to travel farther but still remain relatively close to the tourist areas, I would suggest going a few streets away, just search for nearby restaurants, you'll probably have to do some digging but the places farther away are less likely to taste bad, you can either rent a bike or use a car hailing app if you're in a group.

    They may have fast working ethics, but have very poor sanitary practices. The food should not be stacked like that. It is unsanitary. Perhaps they should practice upon order of every customer on site. Only use the plate when an order has been performed. Not what i see now in the video.
