I was as sick as a dog that night but the gorgeous strains of "Bell Bottom Blues" just pulled us over to join the crowd, then "Gimme Shelter" was even more amazing! Thanks Sam, Susan, Derek, et al.
wow this is so amazing! I love how Derek can just adapt to ANY band and settles into it so flawlessly, then steps out and rips a beautifully melodic solo line, then sits right back into the groove. Also, Susan is such a great vocalist, truly awesome. Cheers for posting!
Silent Dave. Many, many thanks for the great work at Merlefest and other festivals. I was there for many of the shows and I was in awe also when Sam Bush brought Tedeschi and Trucks on stage. As they say, a "Merfefest Moment".
I can't agree more with the prior comments. Amazing set - breathtaking at times. And I was in the cheap seats! So glad I was there. Thanks for posting!
Big thanks from me too for posting such a good recording. This was a magical rock and roll night of jams I'll not forget. And, Levon would have been proud to have heard this rendition of cripple creek. they really captured the spirit of this song...
Just watched the repeat at Merlefest .org. today Apr 24, 2020 This years festival canceled due to corona virus of course, so they are broadcasting a repeat of the entire 2020 festival from the Watson and Cabin stages. This set was a highlight. I really can't believe I'm stuck home instead of enjoying the best 4 days of the year.
Watching this all the way through finally. Absolutely KILLER!! (Pretty darned good job on the camera work too! Especially during Trucks' blazing solo during Cripple Creek! ) But,damn I wish I could hear all of Bell Bottom Blues! Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you SO MUCH for capturing this - and for capturing it so well, and from such a good vantage point! I was many, many, many rows behind you, also sitting in awe. This whole set, and especially Cripple Creek with John & Bela, was a musical peak experience, unforgettable.
THANK YOU so much for posting this~ This weekend was just full of great music & you captured one of our favorites beautifully! I got goosebumps and that permagrin watching it again~ Peace to you & here's to many more Merlefests!
Thank you so much for capturing this on video!!! It was my personal favorite set of the entire Merlefest 25! It's amazing to watch on video and was even more incredible in person! Sam Bush is the King of musical collaboration at Merlefest! He's truly an amazing artist!!!
Awesome video. I was a stage photographer , left the Bush act without knowing about the special guests and missed this just so I could go get a beer before Los Lobos. I'm killing myself.
Man, not only a good picture, but the mic's not bad either! And I say that as someone who's been using my own mics for fourteen years (though, sadly, not this one :-( ).
Yes. I have an old Canon monopod that was used with my Canon 518 Super 8 Movie Camera. Like a single leg of a tripod it gives me a larger handle to control the camera, as the Nikon AW-100 is fairly small.
I used a Nikon AW-100 point and shoot camera. It has 5x Optical zoom and dual front mounted stereo microphones with auto level setting. It's not a professional rig by any means, but it did an amazing job. The AW-100 will capture up to 1080p (1920 x 1080) and has some slow motion capability too. I shot all my MerleFest videos at 720p to make sure I had enough space to shoot all day with one 16GB card. Even though the camera has stabilization I used a small monopod as support. Thanks for asking.
AWSOME JOB ON THE VIDEO ... Cant wait till july for sammmmy ... Hope they dont eat the pa"ttae' ... lol Thanks again .... holy crap Full set ? How long did it take you to upload to You tube ? as it's in High Def .

That look that Bela gives Scott during his solo is pretty much the biggest compliment to get on your banjo playing

It was an amazing, memorable set. I don't expect anything this cool at MF 2013, but each year something surprises me!
We were there that night, too. What an incredible jam session! I'm so glad you were able to capture this and upload it for the rest of us! Thank You!
Excellent! It was nice to see John and Bela too. An amazing amount of talent on that stage. Thanks for the upload.
Derek Trucks sliding Cripple Creek on a solid body Gibson. Sweet Merle Fest Eclecticness.
Great job shooting this! You should send it to the Library Congress, it's a precious record of American musical history :)
Library of Congress and the Smithsonian …wherever they keep American historical treasures, that is.
Great video! I was working backstage. Great performances!
Thanks a million!!!

Awesome. Bela and Derek on the same stage? A dream if I ever did see one. And Sam's vocal on Cripple Creek - what a fine tribute to Levon.
