- Keep on Growing (Cover)
Derek and the Dominos
-------------------
I was laughing,
Playing in the streets, I was unknowing;
I didn't know my fate.
Playing
The game of love, but never really showing;
I thought that love could wait.
I was a young man and sure to go astray.
You walked right into my life and told me love would find a way
To keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing.
I was standing,
Looking in the face of one who loved me,
Feeling so ashamed.
Hoping,
And praying, Lord, that she could understand me,
But I didn't know her name.
She took my hand in hers and told me I was wrong.
She said, you're gonna be all right boy, oh just as long
As you keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe,
Someday baby, who knows where or when, Lord,
Just you wait and see.
We'll be walking,
Together hand in hand, alone forever;
Woman just you and me.
'Cause time is gonna change us, Lord, and I know it's true;
Our love is gonna keep on glowing and growing and it's all we gotta do.
Keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing.
I’d like to imagine that when Eric made this album with Duane, he would’ve wanted the live performances to be like this.
Clapton played both guitar parts, Duane didn't play on this tune
@@johnmcquiggan9509 Good job I said album not this particular song.
My tears are also coming …I’m 72 from 🇸🇪
Truck Tadeski are the World strongast liveband!
There good but there not phish. They're the best live band playing. In my opinion. But I think trucks is the best guitarist in the world though..
I don't know, but tears are running. I'm only 73.
You can feel them channeling Derek and the Dominoes as well as a healthy dose of Allman Bros. as well. 🤩
I'd just like to note, for the record, that there are FOUR guitar players up on that stage, along with a couple of drummers, horn section, keys, backup singers, etc., etc.
So all props to the sound guy. Obviously, we don't know how much this mix differs from the FOH signal but, either way, it's a live mixdown.
And it is way harder than it looks to take a stage with this much going on and present it with enough spatial definition that the whole thing doesn't come out sounding like mud.
So, wow. Great work!
You are correct to take note of the technical difficulties presented by the live performance. Nonetheless, Jesus, what a great rendition. I'm sure we owe much to the engineers but who can think of that when soaring in the clouds.
You might want to take these guys and gals in LIVE sometime. Out front, it sounds this good. Not too loud so as to introduce distortion into what you're hearing. Everything you see on stage is heard fully and with definition. It's unbelievably good as a music experience.
@@Joe_J-MT_Boy We have seen this band many times in the last 6 years. They are excellent. Personally, for my old ears sometimes Trucks’s solos get LOUD!
Rock on .
Dude or Dudette on the board was on his or her game
Something I 1000% have never even though abougt and super taken for granted. Much thanks and appreciation for excellent sound dudes and all the elite echelon of music Derek and Co. constantly drop on us
This is the tightest outfit in the world today, so many musicians all tuned in to each other. Perfection.🤓👍
Trey had nothing to do with that song jamming. He is horrible.
Hell Yeah , This stuff is timeless and to have Musicians of this caliber still able to totally rip it is a blessing ! 😅
Derek and Trey have great interplay on this song.
When Derek bends strings, it's like Stevie. He gave us a taste of how good he really is. Big Love I also love how good Trey is with him.
If this Derek guy keeps it up, someday he might be pretty good.
....
watching this again, how genius is it to have Trey and Doyle Bramhall II drop in?
Love everything about this. Good to hear Mike Mattison soar all over the vocals
I agree - he is an important part of the band.
Mama Tedeschi. Wow!
This right here. This is peak life!
Just caught this...at 8:37 Derek switches fret hands momentarily so he can reach into his left front pocket for his slide...now the fun really begins.
This reminds me of the Allmans so good. Dereck = fantastic
Love u guys...never be too predictable...keep experimentin...find that balance point and play it like theres no tomorrow...Ty for this beautiful music...hats off to all u fine souls...one and all!
Jeg er især glad for hans udgave af"anyday",den har længe været en personlig favorit.Så tak for det. Trey Anastasia er sgu også en habil guitarist.😆
I hope they come out with a DVD/CD combo of this concert. The album in my Amazon cart as a Coming Attraction anyway.... This is TTB at the height of their powers.
Tyler looks tired...take care of yourself man...you are a treasure to the Trucks Tedeschi lovers
At 6 minutes, 8 minutes and 10:15 minutes this incarnation of TTB reaches in my opinion pinnacles as intense as the original.
What's not to like about this? Simply great ensemble playing.
That unison jam around 10 minutes has me melting.
This will never not be cool. Classic yet timeless. I'd love to see TAB and TTB tour together.
TEDESCHI BAND IS ACTUALY ONE GROUP WITH SOUL MUSIC ,ROCK,AND ALL TALENTS TRUE .....SINCE JACKYFAN 👍☝I HEAR TEDESCHI TRUKS BAND AND I LOVE FROM MANY YEARS AGO.......
Great band indeed - watch out for Cardinal Black with Chris Buck!
One of the best damn shows I ever done seen
Jared Coffin Drums you were there?
Damn straight!
Simply tasty wonderful music... inspirational
Trey's face at 5:53 "OMG maybe I am NOT the greatest guitarist on the face of the earth....
Pretty sure everyone who plays with Derek has that moment 😉
Trey is still absolutely amazing....but 90s Trey was this good
Trey was being very respectful and no guest wants to show up their host and steal the show
Great cover!!!! Killer band!!! WOW
They are so blessed to be on stage together . Xo
So phuckin good
❤❤❤❤❤this is outright musical perfection
Doyle Bramall II is vastly underrated...
Great guitarist
there's a reason he gets invited to Eric Clapton's events!
Sorry, "Crossroads" . (brain fart there!)
❤not by me
@@SeeCSeesCC Me neither !
So good. Thanks for sharing....exciting that they'll be around for awhile...I hope.
This is Epic 💙
This band is so great when Trey plays with them.
To my ears is just opposite - Trey overplays and sounds too similar to Derek - whole album with him was a mistake
I agree . I've never been impressed with Trey or his original band. And I will add that the fact that Derek and Susan embraced him made me give him a second and third look. Still not impressed. My guess is that he is a really good guy with more than passable skills who they like so they include him. @@Dayanand77
If you can't appreciate how good this is, you have no taste in music. Got to see TTB one time. Was praying they'd play this, but they didn't. Still an excellent show. Really tight as a band. Hope to catch them again sometime
Blistering 🔥
these guys play so well off each other
The entire ensemble does.
magic
❤thanks
that was fun :)
This ist how music hast to be...
My favorite album this year.
Live! No backing tracks! No overdub shittery! So called Big Name Rock groups today got nothing on these guys and gals!!
There's a lot of musicians out there, the band/musicians that are from the old school, 69s 79s 80s who wrote and composed there own music created their own unique sound are the greatest of their time. All this new bands and music writers do it all on computer and like Joe Walsh said, We're in a digital world now. Digital Music. Not much is original unless you put and old classic rock album on.
Tediski Trucks band are pure old school with their music they compose and the music they create with their 7 or 8, or more depending on the concert they're playing.
This music brings you to life and let's you think and listen thinking the song was written for you, we've lived the lyrics written in the song. I would like to see them one day soon when you all are in or close to San Antonio, TX. Susan and Derek, you re loved here in San Antonio, Tx. I can always make an Austin show, too. God Bless you both. God Speed
Let me analyze this for a sec. Wow. Holy Shit.
Are they going to release an album of the covers? Either way, thanks for uploading this, they just get better, if that was possible
YES, They DID ‼ Layla Revisited
(Live at LOCKN) now available 🎵🎶🎸🔊
@@MartinSmith yes, they did do it. I bought the vinyl album the day it was released. It’s brilliant and compares really well with the original Derek and the Dominoes, which I also have
Break out the tie dyes and start twirling gud job folks !!!
Not even talking shit but there’s multiple times in the video where you can just see on Trey’s face that he can’t keep up with Derek’s flow.
In all fairness not many can keep up with Derek. He plays down so as not to show anyone up 😉 As talented a player as he is, I think Derek understands music so deeply, even he has a hard time keeping up with himself, occasionally 😁
never heard of Trey Anastasio...wow..he could be Dereks brother
Phish
🔥🎵🔥🎵
Sanctification. Keep on growing.
If you havent, go to Bobby Whitlock's YT channel to here how this song came about. Pretty amazing. On this song, its all Eric. Growing was recorded before they met Duane...
Quite right. The first three songs on the album are ole Eric doing his thing . Then this other dude showed up and helped out ( I'm making a joke ).It is an amazing tale that Whitlock tells about this song and how the guitars were done. - you listen to some good channels, bravo -.
Dang.
echoes of Little Feat up there....
Damn
Try to keep up Trey
He can't.
Be nice to old people. When this video was recorded, Trey was 55, which is 15 years older than Derek.
@@carletonharkins805 ha ha true! But even in Trey's younger years he couldn't hold a candle to Derek's flame. Im saying that as a Phish Phan too.
Trey has done wicked shit that ive not heard other guitar players be able to do. Trey and derek are both unique masters in their own rights
Who is the better guitarist in yalls opinion? Trey or Trucks
Derek of course !!!
Who cares? This was rehearsed in secret to present a faithful live rendition of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. They had to reproduce all the overdubbing done on the original live. It was a collaboration of love and it shows.
@@deborahhofmann8644 Different styles obviously. Trey with Phish and on his own is fantastic. When he collaborates he tends to blend in and let the "star" is is playing with take the spotlight, in my opinion.
Trucks. Trey is still a fantastic player but Derek…easily the greatest of his generation and probably one of the GOATs.
Mondo
She doesn't love Trey...
Thx for posting. The song is much better without Trey Anastasio though... I don't dig this guys filling at all. He's just interrupting them, can't find his sonic space at all... I could go on about it long but I'll leave it here. Love TTB and DOYLE
did he do something to piss you off?if they didn't want him there he wouldn't be there.
@@mbsnyderc Yeah, for sure he is more then welcome on stage.. He didn't do anything really, just his playing. I usually don't even comment videos but this time I couldn't help myself.. Maybe i overreacted a little but it's one of my favorite songs and I just hated what he did there...
@@blueriver4449 Trey is lousy IMO. he's just good at his dorky pseudo funk. he has NO feel . just tired licks. TTB is a soul band and trey has ZERO soul. he just has dumb fans that lapup everything he does. i don't get the appeal
@@guywoodhouse4684 I grew up around a lot of Phish fans. Even had the misfortune of attending a few concerts back in 95..... I also dont see the draw. Can't say that to a Phish fan though. They get nasty if you say you don't like em.
I disagree. I like this much better with Trey in the mix. But I get it ...trey bashing is fun. Carry on
Ho Lee Fuc!
dude, i just saw that video off the plane crash and the news said the pilots name was Ho Lee Fuc.....TearsAF
And why is still playing on Derek's part.. like he can't hear that he's completely not necessary there? He's braggin how Derek is his favorite player but instead of listen humbly he has to play those ugly notes during all of his solos... what a bum :/
Relax man, Trey didn't join the band. He's just sitting in. Besides, the people in the audience seem to be enjoying themselves.
Like it or not (and im not a huge Trey guy) they are covering the Layla record and a huge component of that record was Duane and Eric playing at the same time. Numerous examples throughout that album of those two soloing on top of each other
@@adadogod Yes, indeed we were!
I think they blended pretty well. I'd like to see them playing together more.
@@kevinborchers3522 Sure I know the story but I just don't dig the way Trey is trying to blend in... Didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm pretty sure everybody in the audience enjoyed a lot, but still, as a huge fan of TTB and Derek's playing and also both versions of this song i will not change my mind about this performance... Anyway... good vibes only... cheers all TTB fans !
I LOVE "TTB" SINCE THE BEGINNING, BUT TO HAVE NOT "DEMANDED" THAT "BOBBY WHITLOCK" BE PART OF THIS SPECIAL EVENING TO ME WAS "THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY" IN THE HISTORY OF R&R. I CAN CLEARLY UNDERSTAND THE ABSENCE OF ERIC, BUT NOT WHITLOCK..! IF ONE CLEANS OUT THEIR EARS IT'S CRYSTAL CLEAR BOBBY WHITLOCK WAS "THE HEAD DOMINO" NOT ERIC, NOT DUANE, BOBBY..! TOGETHER THEY MADE ONE OF R&R GREATEST RECORDS OF ALL TIMES.... BOBBY WHITLOCK SHOULD BE IN THE R&R HOF RIGHT MOTHERFUCKING NOW, AS OF TODAY....
You can tell trey doesn't know this song well. You can also tell he fucking demolished it. You could see him checking out where Derek was. Once he got it the pipes blew. Both are great. I like them separately however.
