I appreciate that after doing a tutorial you answer the questions in the comments. So many do a tutorial and when a question is asked, it never gets answered. Thank you for this!
Wow. Instead of just one, you just summarized possibly all methods we can use to do it. Thank you. You even mentioned like the "hair tool" and others, so I know what people usually using certain tool for only specific task. Thank you again..
Easily the best 'all round' video on Photoshops range of powerfull tools for cutting out ANYTHING. All you people saying he is too quick? RUclips provides a "pause" button!!! The idea is to inform you of the range of tools and methods available not to hold your hand and do it for you! I have used every one of these techniques during my 24 years of Photoshop and had to discover ( teach myself ) them without any RUclips videos so be very gratefull that this guy has shared them with you. Now go and do some work!
People commenting about this vid being too fast, however, I like it as a bird's eye view of all the various methods I can choose for chopping stuff out. I can pick one and youtube other videos for more details. I saved the video to reference again as I look up each one. Also, I like the progressions from quick and dirty to highly detailed. Great video! Thanx!
This is probably the most useful tutorial I've come across. I would say though that you could easily make separate videos for each technique, going even further into detail of each method. Thank you!
Congratulations! These tips helped me a lot. You summarized all the cutting techniques in just one video-tutorial. Eventhough I'm not a native English speaker, I got everything you taught. Thanks!
So far, you are the only channel who actually knows their stuff. Thank you! I think I had to play and pause certain sections 50 times to see which buttons you pushed, especially in the selection, layers part😩. You are soooo fast😂
Thank you for this great video. I noticed there are many people who said that you were teaching too fast, but I like how you could summarise many examples and methods in this short video. Cheers.
Great video. Needed this in order to make something look good in a slide presentation but now that I got to use an actually useful tool in photoshop I feel like I could go on to learn more about it, to apply it to uses that I usually do from my phone.
Brilliant! Sometimes as a photographer I question myself "Am I doing this right"? .. This video just proves there's no right or wrong way .. you just use which tool suits you the most. Personally I may have a look at Fluid Mask !!
Great video! You did a fine job sharing quickly what tool options are available to do ONE specific thing (cutting things out). Even after years of self teaching and countless hours of practice, I still learned a lot here. It's very easy to spend 90 minutes on videos on how to use one tool which is why I like this video as it brings awareness to other possible methods. I also like how you progressively moved up the sliding scale of tools in the order of which is probably most natural to learn them. Good job on this video!
Chris Spoon!?!? Wow, I've had your website bookmarked for years and never thought to see if you had a RUclips, hah! Thank you for the huge resources bundle. Great to see you on here, random I know, sorry
A great tip with the lasso tool that is kind of hidden: with the lasso tool selected you can press "alt" and it will turn into the polygonal lasso tool, if you draw normally it will act like the lasso, if you pick up the pen or release the mouse button it will act like the polygonal tool. This is really helpful if you are lassoing and need to give your hand a break, as you can let go and it won't close the selection until you release 'alt'. It works for adding or subtracting from the selection too (press shift then alt, or alt, release and alt again).
This has all the best tricks of the trade for cutting anything out in Photoshop. You did kind of go a bit fast over the steps. It was difficult for us mere designer mortals to keep up. At least for me anyway. My two cents. Your design blog is and has been one of my favorites that I've ever been to and I have been benefiting from it for many years now. Thank you.
Extremely helpful and very thorough for showing up options. Although I have to open another tutorial to learn the details of each individual option, but I don't mind. I always go back to this videos for initial guidelines. Great job!
As somebody who works primarily with video/motion graphics this tutorial is incredibly useful. I'm totally fluent and at ease with After Effects and Premiere but popping over to PhotoShop to cut out and prepare elements for animation is often a daunting experience! really well made and I'm sure I'll be watching back over this many times :) Thanks Spoony!
Great tips and tricks. The pace was fine for me, though I did find myself stopping the video and working on an image at the same time to understand some of the shortcuts that did not appear clearly in the video. Thanks!
This is a brilliant video. Ok, so it goes very fast but as I understood, it's not a tutorial, more of a what-photoshop-can-do, which I found very helpful. If there's tools and techniques that you don't understand just look for an in-depth tutorial on that particular one!
Dodge and burn is really clever, why did i never think of it? Also, the easy way to get rid of the white outline just was a feature I didn't know of, thanks for sharing :)
One of the best tutorial videos I've seen. TONS of great tips in there at a very good pace. 10 minutes actually felt like half that. You should do a tutorial on how to make a tutorial. Nicely done!
This was the most valuable tutorial I have found, it is difficult to understand what you did sometimes but if you use the youtube slowmo thing you can find out. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU!!! I knew there was a way to select using color channels and just couldn't figure it out but you saved me!! You rock. BTW, been listening to the Honest Designers podcast and they mentioned you. :)
Amazing .... Simple Informative and non-timewasting saying obvious things.... Maybe you can add a video showing how to blend one cut out onto a background and matching the hue, saturation, white balance and lighting direction to make for more realistic compositions?? Thanks man.
You, sir, are absolutely brilliant - thank you for sharing your knowledge! My mouth hung open in amazement so many, many times throughout this video. “No waaay!!” - was my response to many of your awesome tips. Thank you!
Freaking get vid - Been a photoshop expert / professional for 20 years.. and still I learned a few things.. A bit fast - so I exported the audio ( hope you don't mind) then listen to it half speed!! Also knowing which tool YOU use for each - led me to other vids.. Great Job! Im your newest biggest fan! Your website has some great free stuff! ( This is not a paid commercial [grin] ) Good luck and please keep it up!
Excellent advice. I have used PS since version 5.0 and feared this video would be one of those "Hey, there is this excellent new tool in Photoshop CC and you just click... and done". But I was pleased this video introduced all the classic, basic techniques first. In my very narrow mind there is not much that you need for advanced editing than PS 6 and good skill set.

Brilliant tutorial!
It is very fast, but not a problem, because I can rewind and pause when I need to.

Thanks for this tutorial. I like the fact that you have covered most subjects quickly and specifically. Real helpful.

Why would anyone thumbs down? The video was a great opened door to success.
awesome! great techniques without spending too much time listening to lengthy tuts.
Brilliant! Sometimes as a photographer I question myself "Am I doing this right"? .. This video just proves there's no right or wrong way .. you just use which tool suits you the most. Personally I may have a look at Fluid Mask !!

All I can say is AWESOME! Simply AWESOME!
Thanks for the overview. I get you. I appreciate all the ideas and will go spend time researching and learning a couple more of them.

Press the II button. A.K.A. Pause
