I’m from Macau, and ours exams are short but very difficult, we only need to do one thing before road test, which is 4 cones on a slope, one lane wide, we have came to a stop on the slope, then start and go around all the clones on the slope twice, but It pretty much covers all the clutch and break controls and figure 8 and everything.
@@BikeMatters Just an overview of what's required to pass the test. The editing and commentary was perfect on the first video. I've got my training, mod 1 & 2 booked in for December. Feeling a little nervous but also confident it seems the pass rate is fairly high.
For the slow turns and the figure 8 I discovered that extending your leg in the same direction as your turning direction balances the bike a lot. I guess it's the same thing when you extend your arms to get a better balance when walking on something very narrow and thin.
I don't see why you can't use the rear brake. I use higher revs, light clutch, rear break and counter balancing while looking where I want to go and I can do a U turn within a single parking space. Crazy how much room you have on figure of 8. On Northern Ireland we have 4m each side and 5m to end. We must stay within this, we can't go around the last yellow cone either.

Really helpful video - how much did the training cost? I have ridden a 125 geared bike for about 6 months and most of this looks straight forward. Just want the most cost effective route ect. Any more steer greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Training costs are dependent on how much training you need & where you are, really. If you're completely confident in your riding you may need fewer lessons, but it pays off to have an extra 1 (or 2!) to get more used to the bigger bike. I'd love to say an exact price, but it depends on you and your location. Check the Camrider website for their current prices and offers!
Try to do it on your 125. Mod 1 is 15.50. You'll see how you feel. Then you can repeat it on something bigger, fe. from friend. Just make sure you have right insurance when using bigger bike and you'll be alright.
It all depends, everyone is different. Most people can pick up a geared 125 on a one day CBT. Some others might need a bit longer. Training schools such as CAM rider offer training & test packages these are well worth considering.
11:34 do you have to stay from one side of the box to the other on the u turn? Or can I come out the uturn in a shorter distance? I’m doing the A1 on a Grom so my u turns are shorter than most peoples.

Hiya Matty, you should be find to go straight into your DAS once you've passed your CBT. You may be able to find a training school that can offer both in quick succession.
Sorry to ask what might be a silly question, but if I fail the on road mod, mod 2, does that automatially invalidate the first mod, mod 1? And therefore Id have to do mod 1 again prior to moving on to mod 2.....Thanks..
Hi Guys, 51yrs old, just got CBT cert. Got full car licence, showing A for bike, but under the 12 column, it says 79(3).... Am I still restricted to a 125cc? As I'd like to get a bigger bike to get the feel for the weight and extra power etc...before I go for the Mod1 etc. Thanks 👍
As long as you have a valid uk provisional license, you do not require a motorbike theory test to renew your cbt. If you have been riding with cbt for a decently long period of time, in most cases when you go to do your cbt, the examiner should just sign you a new cbt certificate and let you go without having to redo the whole cbt again.
can I just have a shot at mod 1 with no training and do mod 2 later? if so then how much can i stretch out doing mod 2 for while still keeping my mod 1 valid?
Typically you would do your CBT in a day, unless the instructor feels you need more training then he may ask you to complete more training on a separate day before you can ride on the road.
Hello, I'm 31, I have a full driving car license from almost 13 years and I passed my CBT 2 months ago, since the end of December I'm driving every day my 125cc. Now I really want to remove those L plates and carry my wife. Do I need to do a theoretical course/exam and than the practical one, or I can go straight to the practical? Is any price variance between A1, A2 and full A or it doesn't matter?
Yes you have to do a motorcycle specific theory test regardless of whether you have done one for car previously they are slightly different. Prices for A1 A2 A are the same you’re 31 so you have direct access to A.

Mod 1 and mod 2 prices can vary, mines £700.
£700 how did you get to pay that’s amazing
Don’t have a CBT and only ridden a bike on roads a few times. I’m a Very fast learner and have ridden mountain bikes and bmx’s since I was 3…I want an R3 for next summer. Would i be sound just going straight through the CBT onto the MOD1 and 2?
I did my CBT last summer but haven’t been riding. I was thinking of doing my A2 this summer but I won’t be riding till at least winter 2022 or summer 2023. At that point I’ll be 23 years old. Should I just wait out till I’m eligible for the full A licence? Not sure what to do.
It is all personal opinion tbh. You can do direct access from the age of 24. Only you can decide what is best for you and your situation. Best of luck whatever way you decide and hope our videos are helpful!
Hi I’ have been trying to do mod1 and keep failing in either on emergency stop for skidding/ or speeding.
Why my bike fall down if press front brake to hard and if not then rear brake skid? Any advice plz
Great vid. Have you done you Mod2 yet?
Cheers Mark! Yeah, all completed and passed - our Mod 2 video will be on the way soon
@@BikeMatters well done dude. I've got Mod1 and 2 beginning of September so loving the vids .
Cheers
Mark
@@SPd.Triple Thank you, and best of luck for the Mod 1 and 2 yourself! You will have to let us know how you get on, and if the videos help you eventually pass them. Out of interest, is there anything in particular you'd want to know before going in to the Mod 2? Any areas you'd like us to cover in the upcoming vid?
@@BikeMatters As much info as possible really. Much appreciated cheers!
Happy safe riding 🤟👊👌
@@BikeMatters All passed done and dusted no minors too ! 😜😉😁
Only ever ridden scooters geared& auto , do you think possible to go to this on geared bike , to pass mod1 , ? And how long training ?
It all depends, everyone is different. Most people can pick up a geared 125 on a one day CBT. Some others might need a bit longer. Training schools such as CAM rider offer training & test packages these are well worth considering.
Is mod 1 and 2. Not included in CBT
11:34 do you have to stay from one side of the box to the other on the u turn? Or can I come out the uturn in a shorter distance? I’m doing the A1 on a Grom so my u turns are shorter than most peoples.
Is the u turn from stationary ?
looks easy enough .
storm warrior it is....
Hi everyone,
I’m taking my mod 1 in two weeks,
Do I need to rent a bike or they provided ? I was reading many comments and it’s a bit confusing
Thank you in advance
I’m taking the exam in London
Gear 3 no Rev not clutch i between the cones 👊
We need a graduated license system here in the states...imo
Isn't putting your foot down on the u turn and instant fail?
I’m 30 and I’m looking to do my CBT in the next few weeks I’ve not ridden a motorbike on the road before so after a bit more info. Once I’ve done my CBT can I then go straight to the DAS? Or is there more training before that. Thank you
Hiya Matty, you should be find to go straight into your DAS once you've passed your CBT. You may be able to find a training school that can offer both in quick succession.
If I am 21, can I skip A1 and do CBT then straight to A2?
Yes, you can do an A2 from the age of 19 I believe.
@@BikeMatters cheers
If you use your own bike you need a way to get it to the test centre without riding it.
How many lessons/ hours did you tsk before your mod 1?
Excluding CBT I think it would have been somewhere between 4-8 hours.
@@BikeMatters I've checked the website, they only do several day packages, how did you only get a few hours?
One lesson before mod1 I had mine two days before but somtimes it's possible to get a lesson on the same day
I want to do my a1 licence and do it on a electric motorcycle
Sorry to ask what might be a silly question, but if I fail the on road mod, mod 2, does that automatially invalidate the first mod, mod 1? And therefore Id have to do mod 1 again prior to moving on to mod 2.....Thanks..
You get a separate mod 1 certificate, you just have to retake mod 2
Hi Guys, 51yrs old, just got CBT cert. Got full car licence, showing A for bike, but under the 12 column, it says 79(3).... Am I still restricted to a 125cc? As I'd like to get a bigger bike to get the feel for the weight and extra power etc...before I go for the Mod1 etc.
Thanks 👍
If you're still waiting for a reply 79 (3) means you're restricted to trikes only so no you can only have a 125cc bud
Could someone tell me: Do i take my own bike to a mod1 and 2 im confused lol
So do you not need to do a theory test if you are just renewing your CBT and not doing a full bike licence test?
As long as you have a valid uk provisional license, you do not require a motorbike theory test to renew your cbt. If you have been riding with cbt for a decently long period of time, in most cases when you go to do your cbt, the examiner should just sign you a new cbt certificate and let you go without having to redo the whole cbt again.
@@realist2195 thank you yeah, just got really confused when booking to renew it, I’m not going for my full license so all is good
can I just have a shot at mod 1 with no training and do mod 2 later? if so then how much can i stretch out doing mod 2 for while still keeping my mod 1 valid?
You have to do your CBT before you can attempt your Mod 1.
@@BikeMatters sorry, I forgot to include that I already did my CBT like the tard I am.
yo i just booked my mod 1 for my A2 will they supply the bike?
Presumably you booked through a riding school, best to contact them if you don't know...
Weird seeing such a big bike with an L plate
It has to because its the legal requirement. And when he does the road bit so another's know is learner like cars have to have them e.g
@@leahlambert5737 yeah I know, but it was still weird, since usually you only see 125cc bikes with wee types using L plates
How big is the bike
Do you do your cbt all in 1 day for 125
Typically you would do your CBT in a day, unless the instructor feels you need more training then he may ask you to complete more training on a separate day before you can ride on the road.
Just wondering can you get your A1 licence Just straight of the bat when you turn 17 without doing any tests prior
You'd need a valid CBT and theory test first I believe.
@@BikeMatters thanks
Adam Bessadi you have to be 19 to do your a1 test I believe.
If you're applying for your full licence (A) can you do mod 1 on a 125cc or must it be >595cc?
@@davidstancomb5380 do you need to hire your own bike separately or do they provide
@@billmurray7721 good question i want to know as well
@@TotalWarKS I emailed the London Motorcycle Training center in Dalston and they said they provide the bikes for the training and the tests.
@@billmurray7721 cheers bro, i live in scotland but its probably the same
Hello, I'm 31, I have a full driving car license from almost 13 years and I passed my CBT 2 months ago, since the end of December I'm driving every day my 125cc. Now I really want to remove those L plates and carry my wife. Do I need to do a theoretical course/exam and than the practical one, or I can go straight to the practical? Is any price variance between A1, A2 and full A or it doesn't matter?
You need to do theory test and because you are over 25 go straight away to A full license don’t west time with a1 a2
Yes you have to do a motorcycle specific theory test regardless of whether you have done one for car previously they are slightly different. Prices for A1 A2 A are the same you’re 31 so you have direct access to A.
