My Mod 2 is on Tuesday in Uxbridge. I went riding around there all day yesterday. Anything I thought was odd in road layout (e.g. 3 lanes into 2 with no merge signs and poor paint work) I went over and over till I was happy I understood what was actually happening.
I passed my test in 1981 when a Learner with zero experience or training could legally jump on a 100mph 250cc bike with 'L' plates. Some of my young biker friends died or got seriously injured. Am glad that motorcycle training and safety has now improved. After almost 40 years riding experience all I can say is don't let your emotion impair your judgement, know your limits, and *think* 'what if?' before you act.
i remember those days but didnt test until 2003 took my test on cg 125 then bought a restricted sv 650 since then had a bandit 1200 and my current fjr 1300 2008 model looking to downsize to a cb 500x for my old man biking
This is definitely the reason motorcycling has such a bad reputation. They let anyone do it with no training - they did the same with cars but the difference is that inside a car you're protected.
Got my full license the other day and a few bits of advice from me is to get used to be given directions from a competent motorcycle trainer who knows the area and look as far as you can whilst riding, scanning as far up and then down the road Continously observing road signs, anticipation of potential hazards and positioning of your 1,2 or 3. If you go wrong, go wrong safely and make the wrong turn, do not try and suddenly change your positioning, you will not fail for a wrong turn. Use signaling with life savers and don't forget to do them when your stationary and move off also Don't follow cars to closely. For The independent ride go to the area you are taking your test and get used to the area without any instruction for 10 minutes. Lastly and most importantly ride for yourself and how you would on any other ride. the examiners truly want you to pass.
Great tips! I passed my Mod 2 in December and it was in no way my best ride. I actually did take a wrong turn, which was slightly embarrassing, but I passed with no faults. So it definitely is true that it doesn't matter as long as you ride safely!

I passed my bike test in July 1972 and we had to ride and ride around a block of shops and houses in the town centre. Constantly looking round and hand signalling. At one point the tester stepped out into the road in front of you with his clipboard up and you bring you machine to a controlled halt. I was ridding a Lambretta SX 150. I'd already bought a crash helmet for my girl friend in anticipation of passing which I duly did. So, what would a Mod test be? I had my Doc Martin shoes, stay pressed trousers, button down Arnold Palmer shirt and a Parker, so I guess I passed that too. Great times in away that is hard to explain today.
my grandad didn't do any tests or lessons, he just went to the post office and applied for his license over the counter, it was the same for his car license, for his bus license he had to drive the length of the bus depot yard. ha ha.
I actually enjoyed my test, A clean sweep no faults 😊 I wouldn't worry about learning test route's That will add extra pressure if the test route changes, The layout and road signs are all the same in the uk, Just relax and ride, 👍

It’s easier in my mind than Mod1 .. try to relax .. I had cold water shower before and steady breathing. They actually do want you to pass… there’s no tricks just show you’re a confident, safe rider, I’ve done it at 61… you can too! Good luck Kelvin! 🤞🏻 🏍… let us know!……
I passed March 2019.....pissing it down with rain and my examiner was following in a car.....down to an accident he’d had many years ago he was now unable to ride a bike. Thought I’d made a total hash of things as I was piss wet through, cold and felt pish! Got back to test centre and I thought he had failed me. Thankfully I passed with 0 faults and my instructor said that bloke doesn’t pass that many people 😂. Was over the moon obviously. I found videos from roadcraft Nottingham and RJH helped me no end. Enough waffle...great video for anyone going for their MOD 2.
Glad you passed ,many instructors are honest but some just fail you because of how you may look or what sex you are ,it’s a fact and the answer then is to go somewhere else next time
I passed my A2 7 years ago, freshening up for the full A. I remember on my test being told to pull up where it was absolutely was not safe to do so. I continued and when indicating I got a scowling for not pulling over sooner. Then almost failed on repeated minors for "using my brakes to slow down". Told on lessons it was a good idea to feather the brake to illuminate the light even when engine braking. There was an argument between my instructor and the examiner regarding this but I didn't care, I passed! No matter what's going on during test day, it's just going for a ride on a bike.
I’m just starting out and have Mod1 booked 1st week in January. Your videos are very helpful, I’ve been a driver for 40 years and only recently found a real passion for riding 😁 after watching both Mod1 &2 videos I feel more confident and can’t wait to get started. Just hope I get a few dry days to get out and practice 👍🏻
Cant wait to just get on with the training and tests... having to wait and have this build up is making me more anxious. I'm confident in myself as a rider but definitely want to make sure I learn as much as possible during training.
I think a big factor is the examiners, if you get a nice guy who is friendly but not matey and is polite and welcoming then it’s already a better atmosphere. So many stories I’ve heard of people have rude, moody examiners which really put them on edge and made it a lot harder. I know they are not there to be your mate but kind and friendly service is way more relaxing.
Although many of your videos are from a while ago now, I still found them reassuring and useful and along with some excellent training (North West London) I thank you for the contribution you made to me achieving my full Mod 2 pass today. Best wishes

I started to feel anxious as soon as I saw that norwich test centre....then asked myself what am I worried about...I completed mod 1 there and passed with camrider....Great bunch of guys!! Bk up north now and starting mod 2 training. Great video....thank yoh
I actually enjoyed doing the MOD 1 and MOD 2 tests and passed both first time 😊 don't worry about learning the route as did mine in Worcester for MOD 2 and haven't a clue of the area lol but then again I'd be the same anywhere,didn't really feel nervous either but found nerves are good as makes you more focused etc,my tips would be when slowing down make sure you use brakes as on lessons was like 'how did I know you was slowing down as I was using engine braking ? Don't rush when asked to pull over in a safe place thinking pull over straight away just look for a safe place without blocking drives near a junction or bus stop and if you don't think it's safe then don't risk it,don't always need to indicate when moving away but I always did just to make sure and it's best to anyway just make sure you cancel indicators,make sure you always check to make sure you've turned off indicator as don't wanna go down the road leaving it on,take time with hill starts and angled start as be easy to mess them up if you rush,try and look up through the corners trying to spot speed changes,don't switch lanes on roundabouts if you're in the wrong lane just go the wrong way as they can't fail you just as long as it's safe as you'll most likely fail trying to get into the right lane so don't risk it,get to speed nice and early as they like to see confidence and making progress,if you notice left lane going slow on dual carriageway then switch to right and get upto speed then get back into left when it's clear and safe as was one I had faults on during training, They're not looking for perfection and the examiners want you to pass and found them better then car examiners lol I had 4 minors 2 for appropriate speed I think going down country roads as held back at times as roads open and close so was trying to get to speed but also being careful of bends etc,1 for undue hesitation and 1 for steering and control as was on same roundabout near the end as thought I'd forgot to signal then lifesaver so made me go wide abit but other then that was a good ride and knew I'd done enough to pass as felt like I'd done well Good luck and all the best to anyone taking tests and people who've passed 👍

Passed my mod1 today and have the mod2 tomorrow. It's on unfamiliar grounds and we are scheduled for rain but it will just make for a better story when i pass 😀
PLEASE PLEASE DONT Slow down if you see your examiner slow just rely on the road signs lamp post mean 30 ,roads that are 20 will be marked at some point.{I failed because I wasn’t sure and my examiner slow down ,and failed for driving to slow )great video I’ve passed five years ago second time and it feels great so good luck
Failed my MOD 2 on roads I drive daily,I rode the bike like I drive my van, positioning was poor,safety checks were poor,my riding skills are decent it's my awareness of what's going on around me that let me down,not going to get too down about it,learn from my mistakes and I will spend a few hours driving the route again
I brought a blue cb650f in january.. awesome first big bike. Very forgiving. With my new gear indicator and michalin road 6 tires.. i am having a blast.. very good video.. 👍🏽
I'm 24 years old and never ridden a motorbike whatsoever. I'm going to get my provisional license sorted out, get the CBT done and do the theory test and hopefully get onto the Mod 1 and (fingers crossed) mod 2 ASAP. Your videos are extremely helpful especially for someone that has no road experience at all. The mod 1 seems quite daunting but a lot of people said the same that did the test. Hopefully I'll be on the road preferably before this upcoming autumn! Thanks for the video once again. I'll be back watching them before the mods test :)
I passed Mod 1 on Tuesday just gone - I can't stress enough the importance of getting comfortable with slow riding. It's not as sexy as steaming around corners but if there's one thing that helped me immensely (for on-road situations as well) is spending hours getting used to the clutch, throttle and rear brake and being completely in control of your bike. @@BikeMatters passed mod2 today no faults ! Behave as if the examiner is not there would be my tip. Just a voice in your ear. Had a tricky day with a driver trying to cut me up which needed me to slam on the brakes. But the examiner seemed to think that I had done the right thing and stopped in good time.
@Crete2Clayton nope mate covid came and i turned 19 in December last year so couldn’t book theory or my mod 1 im doing theory 25th of august reckon im gonna pass however ive looked to book mod 1 and 2 but theres nothing available apparently im really annoyed i had to buy a aprilia rs125 2 stroke because i was not staying on a slow 125
I am 24 , I’ve had my car licence now for nearly 7 years , passed mod 1 with flying colours no minors , onto mod 2 now. Really unsure why occasionally I’m having issues leaving roundabouts , basic Highway Code , driving over zigzags. Think I’m going to get in the car and drive around for days in the area of the test

mod 2 coming up friday the 8th, failed my mod 1 3 times finally passed on the 4th attempt. All my instructors keep saying I'm agood road rider and they reckon i'll pass first time hopefully

It definitely has no improved, am license allow you to ride a 50cc that goes 28mph, but allowed to go on dual carriageway that’s dangerous

I enjoyed my MOD 2. Far more relaxed than MOD 1. Like you said, ride for yourself! That's fundamental

I was surprised how fast 650cc actually is. During my training lets just say i tested the throttle 🤯

Was a bust ☹️ At the end of the second day of 5 days training lost my wallet with my licence in so could do my tests 😭

PLEASE PLEASE DONT Slow down if you see your examiner slow just rely on the road signs lamp post mean 30 ,roads that are 20 will be marked at some point.{I failed because I wasn’t sure and my examiner slow down ,and failed for driving to slow )great video I’ve passed five years ago second time and it feels great so good luck
Failed my MOD 2 on roads I drive daily,I rode the bike like I drive my van, positioning was poor,safety checks were poor,my riding skills are decent it's my awareness of what's going on around me that let me down,not going to get too down about it,learn from my mistakes and I will spend a few hours driving the route again

I brought a blue cb650f in january.. awesome first big bike. Very forgiving. With my new gear indicator and michalin road 6 tires.. i am having a blast.. very good video.. 👍🏽

How did you get on mate?
I'm 24 years old and never ridden a motorbike whatsoever. I'm going to get my provisional license sorted out, get the CBT done and do the theory test and hopefully get onto the Mod 1 and (fingers crossed) mod 2 ASAP. Your videos are extremely helpful especially for someone that has no road experience at all. The mod 1 seems quite daunting but a lot of people said the same that did the test. Hopefully I'll be on the road preferably before this upcoming autumn! Thanks for the video once again. I'll be back watching them before the mods test :)
I passed Mod 1 on Tuesday just gone - I can't stress enough the importance of getting comfortable with slow riding. It's not as sexy as steaming around corners but if there's one thing that helped me immensely (for on-road situations as well) is spending hours getting used to the clutch, throttle and rear brake and being completely in control of your bike. Hope your journey goes well!
Focus on theory test to book in as it's just a pure nightmare to get it. Apart of it you will be fine

@@BikeMatters passed mod2 today no faults ! Behave as if the examiner is not there would be my tip. Just a voice in your ear. Had a tricky day with a driver trying to cut me up which needed me to slam on the brakes. But the examiner seemed to think that I had done the right thing and stopped in good time.

I too noticed this. Allowance to break the limit whilst overtaking is a myth, so apologies on behalf of all my generation who perpetuated it 😞

@Crete2Clayton nope mate covid came and i turned 19 in December last year so couldn’t book theory or my mod 1 im doing theory 25th of august reckon im gonna pass however ive looked to book mod 1 and 2 but theres nothing available apparently im really annoyed i had to buy a aprilia rs125 2 stroke because i was not staying on a slow 125

Got my test tomorrow
I am 24 , I’ve had my car licence now for nearly 7 years , passed mod 1 with flying colours no minors , onto mod 2 now. Really unsure why occasionally I’m having issues leaving roundabouts , basic Highway Code , driving over zigzags. Think I’m going to get in the car and drive around for days in the area of the test
Passed the mod 2 also without a single minor chuffed to say the least

mod 2 coming up friday the 8th, failed my mod 1 3 times finally passed on the 4th attempt. All my instructors keep saying I'm agood road rider and they reckon i'll pass first time hopefully
