- I'm starting a short series based around the Module 2 test in the UK. We'll talk about what's involved, how to prepare and putting the skills onto practice before test day.
In this first episode I'll give a few small tips for passing Mod 2, what will happen on the day as well as what the examiner will ask you to do during the test. Then at the end we'll go over the show me tell me and pillion passenger questions.

Got my mod 2 on Tuesday, the 22nd of August. Your videos helped me a lot with mod 1 passed with zero minors, and mod 2 videos are very informative . Hopefully, I will get a pass on Tuesday.

The examiner is really a quality sat nav.
i'm currently doing lessons in spain, which makes it interesting because my spanish is so terrible hahah. they let me do the common theory test in english, and the motorbike specific one was in spanish. failed the english one :)
passed them both next time, then did the mod 1, which i fucked up as well by riding through the cones instead of weaving around them, due to nerves, passed it next time no problem
had my first lesson on the road a couple of days ago, and it was terrifying, but now i feel a lot more confident! couple more lessons and i'll feel confident enough to take the test. your video is super helpful! also nice to hear a friendly accent, i'm scottish too :)

Thanks for excellent video.....my take on instructor causing you nevous; my suggestion is to be relax assuming the instructor is your best friend and YOU are the one who is teaching him/her, how to ride a bike. In other-words, showing off your competence and skills to your buddy.

How did you do on your mod 2
Dude, I love the video series full of great stuff. I just wanna mention about the 'pillions must face forwards'. There is an aspect to that relating to the fact that some women (here in SE Asia) like to sit side saddle as they are wearing a skirt. If they do this it is very hard for them to face forwards and I would also guess that in the UK that might be illegal (to sit side saddle). From memory the highway code says you should sit astride the bike, right?
So, that could be part of the reasoning.

That's fantastic, Beverley, congratulations. Should have a few more videos up next week. If you get a chance to go for a test ride on bike first to get a feel for them. I have been on a tracer before and thought it was a great bike, more than enough power for your first bike but definitely manageable.

That's good to hear, Wayne. Once you've sat your mod 1 you'll realise that it was nowhere near as hard or nerve wracking as what you thought it would be. Plus, mod 1 is like 10 minutes long. It honestly felt like 2 minutes when I did mine. All the best for it, I'm sure you'll smash it. 🤜🤛

Honestly seems pretty simple tbh, obviously bike control is a major part of the test but since most riders already have a car license i think the whole being scared of the road rules etc and fear of traffic is out the window because of exp so just the bike control that you need to focus on

Yes as far as I'm aware you must notify your insurance if you plan to ride with a pillion. I know every policy/quote I've had has always asked if I'd be riding with a pillion.
Have you swapped the clip ons for upright bars on your sv650s?
So do you own the bike before getting the license then? Like, bring your own?

Great content - keep it up! I just passed my test last week and own a 2020 CBR5OOR. Feels plenty fast enough until I get some miles and cornering experience under my belt.I'm in Aberdeenshire, so like you, have plenty of interesting roads on the doorstep.
That's fantastic man, congratulations. It feels good to get the test over and done with. It definitely takes a few months to build the confidence in corners. I'm 3 months in and gettting more confident and comfortable every day. Aye yeah, we totally have the best roads 😂

@@Ms_penny_peel I don't have the bike now, but I would say its a great bike to gain some initial experience on. After about 8 months I was looking for something with a bit more power and moved to a Z900RS.
You didn’t explain checking cut off switch. How the hell can I check it without engine running?

Hey, Matthew. My sv is an 03. I think it's a great bike. It's my first big bike so it's definitely got more than enough power. I am planning on upgrading next year though. I did change the handlebars on mine. I wasn't a big fan of the clip ons.
If my passenger is getting on facing the wrong way first thing i am saying is keep an eye out for plod lol
I've been riding a 125 for almost 2 years now I'm looking to get my a2, would you recommend having an instructor?
I'd always recommend getting at least a lesson or 2, mainly to sort out any faults you might have in your riding. 🤜🤛

When engine runs - it’s normal - it will die. But without engine running???

bearing in mind speed limits are a maximum not a target , could you please advise me on minimum speed limits in given areas like 40mph 30 mph , 60 mph as i am about to do my mod 2 and am concerned if i miss a 40mph and am doing 30mph is this a fail ? or would he take into account that i may have missed the speed limit and am just keeping to 30mph to be on the side of caution
Hey, Gatti. Not sure if it would be a fail but you may get minors for it. Enough minors will result in fail. Go over the limit by too much will be fail. As for minimum, they ideally want you to be as close to the speed limit as possible. You are right that it's not a target but the examiners need to see you riding at speed limits. Not only to make sure you're capable of riding the bike at higher speeds e.g national speed limit roads and they want to see you observing all the road sign to adjust your speed up or down as needed. It's not just a case of missing a speed sign, the examiner needs to see you react to the sign i.e checking your mirrors before speeding up or slowing down and applying brakes.
For mod 1 and mod 2, do you have to have an instructor/lessons, or can I just turn up on my own bike, im only doing my A1 test at the minute, so just 125cc nut I rode on it for a year on my cbt, I have a full driving license for 11 years so I feel quite confidnet in taking the test, and can I just bring my automatic 125cc scooter, I only want an auto license anyway?? thanks for any help
For both mod 1 and mod 2 you'll need to be with an instructor. You may not need a lot of lessons but it'll always be best getting a few to make sure.
assuming you're over 24 given driving history; you can do both exams on your own personal bike. Your bike must meet all their power/weight requirements and you must get insurance (it is possible to get temp insurance on personal bike to ride with the examiner on the test - you wont be insured to ride the bike to the test center). I did my mod 1 DAS on my own bike, but mod 2 is so much easier through a school in my opinion

I had about 5 lessons for my mod 2 including a once over everything on test day.

Have I miss heard you saying the minimum tread depth is 1mm? This caused me to drop a mark on my test theory 😂 they want the answer of 1.6mm brilliant video with great descriptions of what’s needed. Thanks
